WWE cancels Canadian dates
By JASON CLEVETT - SLAM! Wrestling
In the wake of the Chris Benoit tragedy, WWE has cancelled all Canadian events scheduled for the next month, including two TV tapings. The Smackdown/ ECW shows in Saskatoon on July 14th and Regina on July 15th, according to the Saskatoon Credit Union centre website. Terry Massey, Event and Operations Manager of the Credit Union Centre told SLAM! Wrestling that WWE directly relate the postponement to the passing of Chris Benoit and his family. Sean Kelso of the Pengrowth Saddledome confirmed to SLAM! Wrestling that the WWE Raw taping scheduled for July 16th has been cancelled and that WWE will be sending a press release shortly regarding the cancellation of the events. Smackdown was scheduled to be taped in Benoit’s hometown of Edmonton on July 17th and will also be cancelled.
WWE is rescheduling the Corpus Christi, Texas show, originally scheduled for last night, for July 16th. |
