Impact: Roode next challenger for Lashley

Two men with a history will fight for a shot at the biggest prize in TNA. Tonight on TNA Impact, Bobby Roode and Eric Young put aside their history to wrestle for a TNA World Heavyweight Championship match. Who will come out on top in this battle of former partners? Plus, the champion Lashley accepts a challenge from Samoa Joe in the main event! All that and more on this week's edition of TNA Impact!

Video package recaps match one of the TNA World Tag Team Championship series and previews the TNA World Heavyweight Championship number one contender's match.

We are on tape from New York City, N.Y. Mike Tenay and Taz have the call for this week.

Bobby Roode and Eric Young shown entering the building.earlier in the day.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Lashley makes his way out with Kenny King and MVP. MVP with the microphone and he proclaims Lashley as the TNA champion and the soon-to-be Bellator MMA champion. MVP declares Lashley as the toughest man in the state, much less in the planet.

TNA X Division Champion Samoa Joe makes his way to the ring. Joe is impressed MVP can read and his ability as a hype man. Joe gives him credit and declares Lashley a specimen, but he has a problem with him declaring Lashley the toughest man on the planet. Joe says Lashley isn't the toughest man in the planet, the city, or in the ring right now. Joe wants to put the belts aside and fight Lashley tonight. King tells Joe he can't win and pokes his finger at him. A brawl ensues as Joe drops King and gets overwhelmed by the numbers. Lashley says MVP has his fight tonight.

Video promo says Havok has arrived.

Match One for the TNA Knockouts Championship: Gail Kim (c) vs. Taryn Terrell

A lockup starts the two off. Waistlock into a rollup gets Gail Km a nearfall. Drop toehold from Taryn Terrell leads to a monkey flip. Suplex attempt by Terrell turned into a rollup for Gail Kim for a nearfall. Terrell with a jackknife cover for a nearfall. Both women exchanging pin and now forearms. Terrell with clotheslines and a somersault neckbreaker. Up top, a clothesline from Terrell connects for a nearfall.

Terrell again going up top. Gail Kim meets her and lands forearms. Frankensteinrer lands and Gail Kim gets a clothesline. Armbreaker from Gail Kim converts. Running crossbody in the corner misses as Terrell sidesteps, sending Gail Kim out to the floor. Terrell and Gail Kim fighting on the apron. Gail Kim with a neckbreaker on the steel steps. Both make it inside with a second to spare. Gail Kim grabs Eat Defeat, but Terrell kicks out.

Forearms connecting and Gail Kim going for Eat Defeat. Terrell turns out and connects on a cutter, but Gail Kim is able to get the shoulder up. Terrell heading up top and she connects on a crossbody. Gail Kim rolls through on the crossbody and hooks both legs.

Winner by pinfall and still TNA Knockouts Champion: Gail Kim

Post-match, Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell shake hands and embrace. Music interrupts and Havok makes her way to the ring. Havok with a double clothesline. Havok with the Demon Drop on Terrell. Gail Kim landing strikes, only to be chokeslammed and receive the same move.

MVP runs into Eric Young backstage. Young doesn't want anything to do with MVP and MVP knows that, but he wants to remind EY that Roode is always out for himself. MVP reminds Young how Roode used to treat him and Young is skeptical, but MVP says for Young to trust history if he can't trust him.

DJ Z and The BroMans at a rooftop dinner. DJ Z prepares the two for their date and asks for them to reveal which Knockout has gotten the eye of the two. Both refuse to reveal who it is and Jessie Godderz tells Robbie E she will be free to choose whoever she wants. Godderz texts her as Robbie E desperately tries to get signal on his cell phone.

Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud make their way to the ring. EC3 is sick of everyone, including the fans and everyone in the back who has derived pleasure from TNA President Dixie Carter going through a table. EC3 says the Carter's charity ends here and the first target is Rhino. EC3 promises to hand out beatings and the violence will continue until his list of demands are met. EC3 demands for the termination of Bully Ray, the banning of the words "extreme" and "hardcore," and respect. EC3 no longer wants to hear "you can't wrestle" from the crowds. He responds to them by saying he disagrees and he's very good. He tells the crowd they aren't creative and he is the best wrestler in the world. The crowd chants for CM Punk and EC3 says he'd like to beat him as well before saying the world needs the Carters.

Rhino jumps the guardrail and tosses Rockstar Spud aside. Rhino landing on EC3 and both men sent outside. Rhino tells EC3 to get back to the ring so he can beat him up and EC3 promises to give him a fight tonight, declaring his opponent to be Rockstar Spud.

Brittany shown to be watching Samuel Shaw as Gunner comes to talk to him. Shaw apologizes for last week, saying he wanted to feel what it was like to be a hero like Gunner. Gunner accepts the apology and tells Shaw to focus on tonight because he hasn't let him down yet.

Match Two: Samuel Shaw & Gunner vs. Magnus & Bram

Samuel Shaw starts out with Magnus. Magnus with an arm wrench and Shaw gets one of his own. Magnus with the side headlock takeover and Shaw gets out with legscissors. Side headlock in for Magnus as they stand and he gets a shoulder bump. Dropkick counter from Shaw leads to arm drags and an armbar. Gunner inside and the double-team back elbow lands. Leg drop from Shaw gets Gunner a nearfall.

Bram inside and he gets dropped by a high knee from Gunner. Bram taking Gunner from corner to corner and bouncing his head off the turnbuckles. Gunner slamming his own head down and comes back to slam the head of Bram off the turnbuckles. Bram with a rake of the eye. Shaw tags himself in and Gunner protests. Bram with a back elbow and a nearfall before bringing in Magnus. Suplex from Magnus gets a pin attempt. Shaw lifted up and he wiggles free. Rollup stopped by the ropes by Magnus and clotheslines knock both down.

Tags made and Gunner with clothesline and a back elbow on Bram. Headbutt and a knee in the corner leads to a slingshot suplex. Magnus punched off the apron and Gunner with a back elbow. Up top, Gunner jumps down and buckles his knee. Bram with a chop block and a pin.

Winners by pinfall: Samuel Shaw & Gunner

Post-match, Samuel Shaw checking on Gunner and enraged at the injury. Shaw pulls the referee into the ring and Gunner forced to corner him and calm him down.

MVP meets Bobby Roode backstage. Roode tells MVP that he picked a weird time to fight and MVP just wants to ask Roode if he thinks Eric Young will give him a fair fight tonight. Roode says the two have history and respect for one another. MVP notes how Roode used to make EY carry his bags and tells Roode that he talked to EY and he hasn't forgotten.

The BroMans are still arguing over who will get the first shot at the girl. The two argue about wearing the same shirt. The Beautiful People meet The BroMans and tell them that as long as they keep them happy, they will keep The BroMans happy. DJ Z talks about love in the air and tells the cameraman to give the lovebirds privacy.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship Contender Match Three: Eric Young vs. Bobby Roode

Lockup sees Bobby Roode get the side headlock and hammerlock. Eric Young with a fireman's carry out. Lockup sees EY get the side headlock and the shoulder bump. Roode leapfrogging and ducking to get a hip toss. Shoulder bump from Roode sees EY leapfrog and duck for an arm drag. Legscissors choke from Roode countered into a side headlock from EY. Young floats out of the corner and misses a dropkick. Elbow drop from Roode misses. Both men countering and Young on the apron. Kick from Roode lands and brings EY inside.

Arm wrench puts Young on the mat for an armbar submission. Young fighting up and landing a forearm. Clothesline connects and EY on the apron strutting. Backbreaker across the ropes and Young pulls on the neck and goes up top. Missile dropkick connects for a pin attempt. Roode on the apron and an armbreaker across the top rope. Inverted atomic drop and a high knee lift are compounded by a Roode clothesline. Somersault neckbreaker from the top gets Roode a nearfall.

Fisherman's Suplex countered by Young, but he runs into a spinebuster from Roode for a cover. Roode looking for the Roode Bomb, but Young with a wheelbarrow back suplex for a nearfall. Moonsault from the top connects for EY and still can't put Roode away. Young looking to get Roode up and a Crossface applied by Roode. Young turns him over for a pin and Roode with a crucifix for one of his own. Backslide attempt turned around by EY for a DDT that nearly gives him the victory. Young up top and met by Roode, only to be shoved down. Elbow drop connects and Roode is able to kick out.

Young calling for a Piledriver finish. Roode back bodydrops out and EY with a sunset flip for a nearfall. Both men rolling and flipping for nearfalls. Roode laying on top of Yooung and Young bridges out. Piledriver turned around and Young picked up and dropped by the Roode Bomb.

Winner by pinfall and number one contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Bobby Roode

Post-match, Bobby Roode offers up a handshake. Eric Young accepts and the two hug in the middle of the ring.

Bobby Roode asked how he feels after being named number one contender. Roode is exhausted, but excited. After waiting for seven weeks, he is ready to get back what was once his. Lashley steps up to him and stares him down.

Jeremy Borash with Team 3D. They have control in the TNA Tag Team Championships series and they call for the tables match. Bully Ray asks if anyone thought Team 3D would choose anything different, as himself and his brothers are the masters of it. Bully declares TNA to be the place where tag team wrestling is getting a rebirth. Bully Ray loses count of the titles they have won, but they plan to go into the TNA Hall of Fame as tag team champions. Devon says the team will go down as the greatest and tonight will prove that.

Six-Man TNA X Division Championship Contender Match Four: Low Ki vs. Homicide vs. Tigre Uno vs. Manik vs. DJ Z vs. Crazzy Steve

Low Ki starts out with Tigre Uno. Low Ki opening up with chops and an uppercut. Splash in the corner misses and Tigre Uno with an enzuigiri. Springboard arm drag attempt countered by Low Ki with a spinebuster. Bridging fisherman's suplex lands and the other four competitors break the pin. Manik tags in and DJ Z swings a Low Ki. Low Ki with a chop that gets called a tag. Manik slingshots DJ Z in and hits a springboard crossbody for a nearfall.

Uppercut from Manik connects. Manik sent into the ropes and he catches himself, allowing Homicide to tag in. Belly-to-belly suplex connects and a snapmare pin attempt is met by a Crazzy Steve tag. Steve leaps up and is caught, biting the head of DJ Z to get a sunset flip nearfall. DJ Z comes back with a knee lift and an elbow to the back of the head. Both men countering and connecting on each other with a crossbody. Both men down and rolling to the ropes.

Low Ki and Manik in. Boot and a chop from Low Ki connect. Mule kick out of the corner off the float over connects, but Homicide makes the tag. Uppercut drops Manik and Tigre Uno connects on a missile dropkick to Homicide. Gory bomb lands for DJ Z and Crazzy Steve and DJ Z sent out. Low Ki and Tigre Uno sent out by Manik and Homicide on top of DJ Z and Steve. Homicide and Manik exchanging counters. Cutter from Homicide lands and the Gringo Killer lands.

Winner by pinfall and number one contender for the TNA X Division Championship: Homicide

"Cowboy" James Storm and The Great Sanada make their way out after the match. Savate kick from The Great Sanada lays out Manik and the two drag him out.

Austin Aries makes his way to the ring. Aries apologizes for any green tint he has because of The Great Sanada spitting mist on him. Aries says this wouldn't have happened if "Cowboy" James Storm hadn't gotten involved. Aries isn't afraid to fight two on one and he challenges them to that game tonight.

The Great Sanada and Storm make their way out. Storm says Sanada has experienced a rebirth after he walked towards the light and Storm welcomed him. Storm plans to do the same thing with Manik and instill a vision of winning and championships into both men. Storm says Sanada will be the greatest wrestler to ever come out of Japan. Aries interrupts and says Storm is liberal in the use of the word "great." When the fans think of greatness, they think Aries. Aries calls Storm a legendary a-hole and he's been infuriating people within TNA since day one. Aries says Sanada is a marked man now by his country and he has someone that has a target on his back with him tonight.

Tajiri makes his way out and goes after The Great Sanada as Storm and Aries brawl. Storm and Sanada sent outside and Storm slapping Sanada as he bows.

Rockstar Spud asks why Ethan Carter III has put him in this match with Rhino. EC3 says he's the only person who has done anything to try and avenge Dixie Carter and asks Spud what he has done. EC3 says the door is right there, but if he wants his job, he will walk to the ring.

Match Five: Rockstar Spud (w/Ethan Carter III) vs. Rhino

Rockstar Spud slammed into the corner. Punch blocked and Spud choked and thrown into the corner. Shoulder ram lands and Spud press slammed up and down. Spud attacking from behind as Rhino stares down EC3. Spud with clubbing blows and chops that do nothing as Rhino chops back. Throw from Rhino leads to a Gore attempt. Spud moves and Rhino runs into the turnbuckle. Spud moves outside and brings a trashcan in. The crowd chants for ECW and Spud tries to turn the chant into one for EC3. Spud turns right around into a Gore from Rhino.

Winner by pinfall: Rhino

Post-match, EC3 turns his back on Rockstar Spud and walks up the ramp with no remorse.

Match Six: Lashley vs. Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe meets him at the edge of the ramp and the two brawl around ringside. Samoa Joe sent into the steel steps after winning the striking battle. Lashley landing strikes up against the apron and charges into an STJoe. Inside, Joe with a back splash into a corner enzuigiri. Facewash with the boots followed by a running corner kick. Joe landing jabs, but sent into the corner. Shoulder rams from Lashley. Joe catches him in a guillotine choke and Lashley fading. Joe ran into the corner and a neckbreaker gives Lashley a nearfall.

Arm lock applied by Lashley and turned into a side headlock. Joe elbowing out and Lashley leapfrogs to land a clothesline. Elbow drop for Lashley gets a nearfall and a nervehold applied to the clavicle of Joe. Joe elbowing out and the two exchanging strikes. Lashley tries to leapfrog Joe charging, but gets an inverted atomic drop. Big boot and back splash are followed by a powerslam that nearly win Joe the match.

Sat up top, Joe struck with right hands from Lashley. Joe taken off the top and Lashley with the running powerslam. Spear attempt from Lashley countered by a roundhouse kick to the midsection. Joe applies the Coquina Clutch and Kenny King hits the ring. Joe unlocks the hold and chops King, sending him tumbling to the floor from the top. Full-nelson bomb from Lashley almost steals the win. Spear connects.

Winner by pinfall: Bobby Lashley
