Impact: Team 3D start series with a win

The future of tag team wrestling in TNA lies on the shoulders of the TNA Tag Team Champions The Wolves. However, to prove themselves, they must go through the old guard. Tonight on TNA Impact, the best-of-three series for the tag team titles starts as The Wolves meet Team 3D and The Hardys. Plus, who will be number one contender between Eric Young and Bobby Roode? All that and more on this week's edition of TNA Impact!

Video package previews the best-of-three series for the TNA Tag Team Championships and recaps the controversial ending to last week's main event.

We are on tape from New York City, N.Y. Mike Tenay and Taz have the call for this week.

TNA Executive Director of Wrestling Operations Kurt Angle is in the balcony with the audience. Angle aims to put on the best show possible and doesn't think he disappointed tonight. Ethan Carter III will face Rhino in a grudge match and the main event will be the best-of-three series for the TNA Tag Team Championships between champions The Wolves, The Hardys, and Team 3D. Angle talks about the ending to last week's main event and he plans to talk to Bobby Roode and Eric Young tonight to get a better idea on who is the number one contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Lashley hits the ring with MVP and Kenny King. MVP has the mic and berates Angle for pandering to the New York crowd. MVP asks how the boss job is treating him and lashes out at the fans. MVP plans to worry about King and Lashley while Angle worries about Young and Roode. MVP turns his focus to the New York crowd, calling them out on fake toughness. Lashley is proclaimed as the true King of New York by MVP.

Tommy Dreamer walks to the ring. Dreamer says himself and MVP have been friends for a long time, but he has a problem with his mouth, despite being one of the most underrated talents in wrestling. Dreamer tells MVP he is better than that and tells King that he is a sellout from Queens who claims to be from Las Vegas, telling him he is better than that as well. Dreamer tells Lashley he is the most dominant and hard-working champion the company has ever had and he doesn't need to get cheap heat with the people of NYC. King sucker punches Dreamer and tosses him out of the ring. King swept outside and Dreamer with a kendo stick to chase King. Dreamer in the ring and MVP trying to talk his way out of it. Angle interrupts and tells MVP to shut up, booking Lashley and Dreamer in a New York City street fight tonight.

New York City Street Fight Match One: Lashley (w/MVP & Kenny King) vs. Tommy Dreamer

Lashley drops Tommy Dreamer from behind as MVP distracts him on the microphone. Lashley stomping a dazed Dreamer down in the corner as we hit the break.

We return to Dreamer cracking Lashley with the kendo stick around ringside. Lashley with a belly-to-belly suplex on the ramp. Dreamer has his head bounced off the apron and he is crotched on the barricade. Dreamer dropped with a punch and Lashley slamming the barricade on top of him. Action moves back inside and Lashley landing shoulder rams in the corner before locking in the bearhug. Dreamer bites his way out and gets dropped by a clothesline. Suplex puts Dreamer down and Lashley looking for the Spear.

King on the apron and he holds Dreamer. King speared outside as Dreamer ducks and Dreamer with a trashcan shot to the back of the head. Trashcan propped in between turnbuckles and an STO drops Lashley into the trashcan. DDT connects for a Dreamer nearfall and he moves outside to get a kendo stick. Up top, Dreamer cannot land as he is caught by a Dreamer suplex. Spear connects for Lashley.

Winner by pinfall: Lashley

Madison Rayne asked about her number one contender match with Taryn Terrell tonight. Rayne is prepared, but she thinks the focus has been on Terrell and her comeback too much as of late. Tonight, Rayne plans to show Terrell what she is all about en route to a shot at the TNA Knockouts Championship.

Samuel Shaw and Gunner shown in their hotel room. Shaw thanks Gunner for letting him draw in his room and Gunner talks about preparing his uniform for tonight's Wounded Warrior event. Gunner is going downstairs to get some food and drinks and Shaw walks over to the uniform and lurks.

Knockouts Contender Match Two: Madison Rayne vs. Taryn Terrell

A handshake starts the two off. Rollup off the lockup from Madison Rayne gets a nearfall. Taryn Terrell with a pin of her own and the two exchanging pin positions before they trade side headlocks. Shoulder bump from Terrell sees her land a monkey flip out of the corner. Terrell hooks the ropes as Rayne whips her into them and moves out of the way as Rayne dives. Rayne falls outside and Terrell whiffs on a crossbody from the apron. Rayne with a nearfall inside.

Terrell has her head slammed off the turnbuckle and Rayne with a back elbow in the corner. Dropkick gets Rayne another nearfall. Terrell with a series of clotheslines, only to be dropped with a knee to the midsection by Rayne for a rollup nearfall. The two exchange forearms and Rayne with a Northern Lights Suplex for a nearfall. Suplex blocked by Terrell and she lands one of her own. Elbows landing for Terrell, but Rayne counters with a punt to the head after doubling Terrell over for a nearfall.

Terrell sat up top and a punch drops Rayne. Clothesline from the top connects and Terrell with a pair of clotheslines. Rayne kicked in the midsection and Terrell with a swinging neckbreaker that nearly wins it. Up top, Terrell converts on the crossbody and Rayne barely gets her shoulder up. Rayne cornered and Terrell runs into the boot. Rayne tries to pin with her feet on the ropes and the referee catches her. Running cutter connects for Terrell.

Winner by pinfall and number one contender for the TNA Knockouts Championship: Taryn Terrell

Bobby Roode shown walking into the office of Kurt Angle. Eric Young is there and Roode asks what he is doing here. Young is interrupted by Angle, who tells the cameraman to cut off the camera to give them privacy.

Samuel Shaw dressed in the uniform as Gunner comes back. Gunner is shocked and tells Shaw to take off the uniform or he will do it for him.

Match Three: DJ Z, Manik, & Homicide vs. Low Ki, Crazzy Steve, & Tigre Uno

Low Ki knocked to the outside immediately by Manik as he poses on the ropes. Inside, Crazzy Steve and Homicide brawling. Back elbow out of the corner by Steve, but Homicide setting Steve up for an electric chair. Steve bites his way out and brings in Tigre Uno. DJ Z in and the two countering until DJ Z gets the arm wrench. Tigre Uno ducks under DJ Z and lands a kick for a nearfall. Mule kick out of the corner lands for DJ Z, but he is taken out by a springboard hurricanrana. Manik charges in and gets racked into a gutbuster by Tigre Uno. DJ z shoves Uno down.

Homicide returns to land a jumping back elbow for a pin attempt. Armbreaker over the shoulder brings DJ Z back in. Double sledge misses and connects on his partner. DJ Z headscissored into the stomach of his partner and Homicide tumbles outside. Manik and Low Ki brought in. Clothesline and strikes out of the corner land. Mule kick in the corner pushes Manik back to the other corner and he looks for the mounted elbows. Manik ducks out to apply the octopus stretch. Low Ki works out and Manik looking for the drop-down gutbuster, but Low Ki comes down on him with a double-foot stomp. Ki Krusher attempt met by a clothesline from Homicide.

Steve and Homicide brawling and Homicide falls outside as Steve sidesteps him. Slingshot crossbody to the outside takes out Homicide. DJ Z taken out to the floor by a Tigre Uno headscissors. Manik sent to the ropes and he hangs in between them as Tigre Uno dives and cannonballs on top of DJ Z outside. Manik charging and Low Ki runs perpendicular to land a springboard kick. Ki Krusher converts.

Winners by pinfall: Low Ki, Crazzy Steve, & Tigre Uno

Bobby Roode and Eric Young shown leaving the office of Kurt Angle. Angle asked if a decision was made and Angle says the three of them came to an agreement that will be publicly announced next.

Rhino backstage and he says money can't buy happiness, but EC3 bought himself a one-way ticket to hell tonight. Rhino can't and won't forget what EC3 did to him last week. Rhino promises to beat EC3 to his last gasp and then Gore him.

Bobby Roode in the ring. Roode recaps the six sides of steel match at Hardcore Justice. Roode just came from the office of Angle and the three agreed to a number one contender's match once again next week between himself and Eric Young.

EY invited out and he makes his way to the ring. Roode says Young is crazy and the two have a lot of history together, whether together or against one another. Last week was one of those battles and the two climbed out of the cage and landed at the exact same time. They have to battle again, but Roode knows they are doing it for the right reason. Roode has to bring his best game next week to earn his shot and Roode says it will be an honor to battle with EY.

EY appreciates the respect and remembers all the doubts of when he was TNA champion. Fate works things out and both men have come to this point because of fate. EY gives interviews all around the world and he is always asked who the best wrestler in the world is. EY will forever answer that with Roode's name, but he is just as good as Roode. EY needs to elevate his game and he plans to be better. Roode says the only thing that's left is them tearing the roof off the place next week.

The BroMans playing around on Tinder as Jeremy Borash approaches. Jessie Godderz and Robbie E are having a competition to see who can get the most matches and they end up in a tie. However, both are matched with TNA Knockouts. The two plan to go on dates with her and Godderz plans to be able to take her home before Robbie E.

Match Four: Ethan Carter III (w/Rockstar Spud) vs. Rhino

Ethan Carter III stomping Rhino as he charges into the ring. Rhino comes back with a shoulder bump and works EC3 in the corner before tossing him outside. EC3 tries to throw Rhino into the barricade, but Rhino reverses and bounces him off a ringside chair. Inside, EC3 whips Rhino into the corner and gets a clothesline nearfall. Rhino put into the corner and EC3 stomping down. EC3 using the rope to choke Rhino and stomping once again. Elbow drop gets EC3 another pin attempt.

The head of Rhino being slammed off the canvas. EC3 applies a rear chinlock and Rhino clubbing the body to break the hold. EC3 clubs the back of Rhino and corners him for a splash for a nearfall. Rear chinlock reapplied by EC3 and Rhino again fights to his feet. Shoulder tackles and back elbow connect for Rhino. EC3 pulled into a Samoan Drop for Rhino. Rhino looking for the Gore and Rockstar Spud holds the leg. The referee is able to settle it as EC3 lands a low blow that nearly steals the win.

Back elbow out of the corner by Rhino is followed by a clothesline. Belly-to-belly suplex converts for Rhino and he again sets up for the Gore. Rockstar Spud again hanging on the leg of Rhino and he is picked up and dropped. EC3 with a chair to the midsection and cracking the back.

Winner by disqualification: Rhino

Post-match, EC3 relentlessly beating Rhino across the back with the chair. Rockstar Spud pulls the chair away and gets shoved down. Spud shocked and tells EC3 to calm down, but Carter lands a few more shots before exiting in a trance.

"Cowboy" James Storm makes his way out. Storm introduces himself as a legend and Storm plans to lead many to a rebirth. Storm introduces the first of many in The Great Sanada.

Match Five: The Great Sanada (w/"Cowboy" James Storm) vs. Austin Aries

Lockup sees the two exchange armlocks and wiastlocks. Arm drags from Austin Aries get him out and a pin attempt leads to the Last Chancery being applied before The Great Sanada gets a rope break. Sanada locks eyes with Storm and bows. Sanada charging Aries and clubbing him down. Chops connect in the corner and Aries sent off the ropes into another chop. Sanada using a choke to get a nearfall on Aries.

Backbreakers across the knee landing and Aries slammed to the mat by Sanada for a pair of nearfalls. Rear chinlock applied by Sanada and Aries fighting his way up. Sanada on the apron and Aries pinballs him from turnbuckle to turnbuckle for a count of ten. Sanada sent down and Aries connects on a suicide dive. Back inside, missile dropkick corners Sanada. Boot stops Aries from charging in, but Aries comes back with a discus forearm. Corner dropkick lands and Brainbuster attempt countered by Sanada biting the finger of Aries. Aries flapjacked face-first on the top turnbuckle and sat up top. Sanada meets him, but struck down. Sanada grabs the leg of the referee and Storm shakes the ropes. Green mist to the face of Aries and side kick lays him out.

Winner by pinfall: The Great Sanada

Video package introduces former US Army Sergeant and Wounded Warrior Project representative Chris Melendez.

Kurt Angle introduces Chris Melendez as he stands in the ring with Team 3D and Mr. Anderson. Angle knows about sacrifice, but what he has accomplished pales in comparison to the accomplishments of Melendez. Melendez is an amputee and a survivor, and now a member of TNA. Mr. Anderson, Bully Ray, and Devon all take time to praise Melendez as they raise his hand and celebrate.

TNA Tag Team Championships Best-of-Three Series Match Six: The Wolves (c) vs. Team 3D vs. The Hardys

Bully Ray starts with Davey Richards. Arm wrench from Richards brings on a tag to Eddie Edwards. The Wolves exchanging tags and axhandle smashes to the arm of Bully Ray. Richards slammed by Bully and chopped. Richards comes back with roundhouses after a series of chops, but he gets dropped. Whassup? attempt blocked as Edwards lands a kick on Devon that drops him off the top. Richards with an enzuigiri on Bully that sends him out.

Matt Hardy steps in and landing shots on Richards. Jeff Hardy steps in and the double-team commences. Matt used as a launching pad for Jeff on Edwards, but Richards connects with a clothesline as Jeff comes in on him. Bully steps in with a clothesline on Matt. Richards attempts a springboard back elbow, only to be caught by a double-team neckbreaker from Team 3D. Devpn gets a nearfall and begins to work Richards in the corner. Matt brought back in and landing some shots before Jeff brought in. Double-team offense gets The Hardys a nearfall.

Dropkick to the back of the head for Jeff connects and earns a nearfall. Matt in with an elbow to the left arm of Richards. Arm wrenches and a kick to the arm from Matt met by a rollup from Richards that almost steals the win. Side Effect from Matt gets a pin that is broken by Devon. High-low double-team attempt is thwarted as Richards steps away and Devon and Matt collide. Edwards in and connecting with strikes on everyone. Devon sent out and Richards runs into a back elbow from Matt in the corner.

The Wolves and The Hardys left in the ring. The Wolves duck Hardy clotheslines to land suicide dives on Team 3D. Matt drops to all fours and Jeff flies outside to take out The Wolves. Matt up top and lands a moonsault that takes out everyone. Matt with a pin on Edwards that almost takes it. Twist of Fate countered by Edwards and The Wolves with a kick, German suplex, and jackknife cover combo that is broken by Jeff.

Devon tags in as Edwards counters a Twist of Fate. Devon walks into a pop-up and roundhouse kick combo. Double-foot stomps from the top connect for both Wolves and Bully breaks the pin. Bully turns into a clothesline from Jeff and a baseball slide sends Bully up the ramp. Matt with a Twist of Fate inside on Richards and Jeff with a Swanton. Jeff steps up into a superkick from Edwards and a rollup on Devon nearly steals it. Bully sneaks in and a 3D connects on Edwards.

Winners by pinfall: Team 3D

Team 3D leads 1-0 in the series and have control of the next match.

The show closes with a preview of next week's episode.
