Smackdown!: Orton vows to win the war against Roman Reigns
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

The title picture in WWE wasn't the only thing shaken up by SummerSlam. Now, Smackdown! has a new three man announce team. Tom Phillips, from NXT and Main Event, takes over the play by play, pushing Michael Cole into a color commentary position with JBL. This may only be temporary, though, but the less Cole the better.

Randy Orton kicks of the show from Phoenix, Arizona to address Roman Reigns. He tells Reigns that he may have won the battle, but the war isn't over. Orton says he is focused and when he is focused bad things happens, like an RKO through the announce table. Orton turns his sights on RVD, his opponent tonight that will serve as a warning to the WWE Universe.

While Orton is posing, Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring for his match. Rollins and Orton shake hands on the ramp.

Match #1 - Seth Rollins vs. Jack Swagger

Swagger comes out alone, since Zeb Colter was knocked out by Rusev. Swagger is still selling his injured ribs from SummerSlam, especially after hitting the Swagger bomb. Rollins springboards off the ropes, but Swagger counters into the Patriot Lock. Rollins breaks the hold and sends Swagger into the turnbuckle. Swagger hits the floor and Rollins goes for a baseball slide. Swagger catches him and looks for the Patriot Lock. Rollins fights out and then dodges a clothesline. Swagger runs into the ring post and Rollins then slams him over the security barrier, knocking him into the crowd. Rollins rolls back into the ring. Swagger nearly gets counted out, but as he gets back into the ring, Rollins curb stomps him. Swaggers rolls out of the ring and is out cold. The ref makes the ten count allowing Rollins to pick up the win by count out.

Winner via Count Out: Seth Rollins

Rollins comes to, only to find Bo Dallas giving him some motivation in the ring. Bo says Swagger has gone from American hero to American zero. Dallas says he will pick up the pieces and become America's new sweetheart.

Corporate Kane has summoned The Miz to his office. All Miz wants is a rematch, but Kane isn't pleased with Miz's demands, so he books a rematch with Roman Reigns.

Match #2 - Rusev w/ Lana vs. Sin Cara

If you were thinking squash match, you would be right. Rusev locks in the Accolade and Sin Cara taps.

Winner via submission: Rusev

Lana informs the WWE Universe that this is what happens when you disrespect Russia. Mark Henry issue with that, interrupting Lana's post match speech. Rusev and Lana flee the ring, not quite ready yet for the Hall of Pain.

Renee Young asks RVD how he feels about his match with Randy Orton. RVD says he is great and Orton needs to chill out. Orton knocks him out from behind before he can says R-V-D.

Match #3 - RVD vs. Randy Orton

RVD is ready for a fight after getting jumped back stage. Orton rolls out of the ring. Once the match start, RVD connects with a spinning heel kick and then a thrust kick. Orton his the floor and RVD flies over the top rope to take him out. He drops Orton onto the security barrier, but Orton is able to avoid the kick from the ring apron. Orton drives RVD into the barrier and then slams him off the announce tables. He whips him into the ring steps and then drags him back to the announce tables. The ref calls for the bell and both men are counted out.

Double Count Out

Orton continues the beating, tossing RVD into the crowd and then hitting the elevated DDT off the barrier. RVD is rolled back into the ring and Orton just sits in a chair over top of him, mocking RVD. Orton finishes him off by delivering an RKO onto the steel chair. Orton wants Roman Reigns to know that he will see him later.

Renee Young is back, this time with Roman Reigns, who wishes Orton will come after him. Roman promises revenge on The Authority for what they did to Dean Ambrose.

Match #4 - Natalya vs. Paige

If you missed Raw, Nattie actually scored a win versus Paige thanks to a distraction from AJ. Paige takes a break outside the ring, and then catches Natalya with a kick to the jaw. Nattie beats the count, but gets a head butt for her effort. Paige has Nattie in a leg lock, when AJ skips down the ring. AJ grabs Paige's Diva's Title and the distraction almost allows Natalya to get the pin. Paige kicks Nattie, and gives chase to AJ. Paige gets her title back and beats the count back to the ring. Unfortunately, she runs right into a Sharpshooter. AJ taunts Paige until she taps out.

Winner via submission: Natalya

Match #5 - Stardust and Goldust vs. Luke Harper and Erik Rowan

Stardust saves the match after a sit down power bomb to Goldust. Rowan goes after Stardust, as Goldy rolls up Harper to get the win.

Winner via pinfall: Stardust and Goldust

After the match, Harper and Rowan destroy the Dust Brothers. Star is left in a heap in the time keeper's area, while in the ring Goldust takes a hard clothesline.

On Tuesday, COO Triple H informed the Universe that John Cena is invoking his rematch clause and will take on Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions.

Again, if you missed RAW and didn't read Nick Tylwalk's recap, new WWE Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar debuted a new WWE Heavyweight Title belt. Unfortunately, it still looks like a class ring.

Match #6 Roman Reigns vs. The Miz

This match is just serving as an excuse for Randy Orton to get involved, right? Orton doesn't even wait, walking out right as the bell rings. Miz tries to take advantage, but Reigns catches him. Miz slips out of the corner, but Reigns catches him on the floor with a clothesline. Reigns keeps on eye on the Viper, allowing Miz to attack. Reigns counters with a Samoan drop and then catches Orton trying to slide into the ring. Miz kicks Reign in the back and takes him to the mat. Reigns connects with back elbow, shoots off the ropes and spears Miz. Reigns covers for the win, as Orton looks on.

Winner via pinfall: Roman Reigns

Reigns motions for Orton to get in the ring and the two start trading punches. The fights spills to the floor, allowing Orton to grab a chair. Orton chops Reigns in the gut and then drills him over the back. He rolls Reigns back into the ring and sets up the chair. Reigns fights Orton off and gives a chair shot. Reigns connects on the Superman punch, leaving Orton slithering out of the ring. Reign stands tall in the ring to end the show.
