NXT: Former BFF’s face off as Charlotte defends title against Summer Rae
By MATTHEW ASHER - SLAM! Wrestling

Jerry Lawler often says that all women secretly hate each other. With the recent events of Summer Rae and her BFF “friend” Charlotte meeting for the NXT women’s title tonight, I think it’s safe to say the hatred between these women will be overtly obvious. Per usual, NXT comes to us from Full Sail University.

Match 1- Tag: The Ascension vs. Local Competition

Before the match starts, the announce team wonders if this will simply be lambs being led to slaughter. When their opposition doesn’t even have names, I think we all know how this will end up. Local guy #2 (seriously, they never gave us either of their names) gets stuck between both members of the champs and it’s really just a matter of time before the Fall of Man is connected to give the champs another win.

Winner by pinfall...The Ascension

Match 2- Singles: Tyler Breeze vs. Mojo Rawley

Apparently Tyler injured his left hand since the last time I’ve seen NXT. It’s in a cast and we’re told the injury may have something to do with hand lotion he was using as a hand model. Somehow I doubt that’s what happened, but whatever. If that’s the best excuse a grown man has for injuring himself with lotion, I’m not asking further questions.

Mojo may come into the match hyped up as all can be, but it takes Breeze a handful of seconds and just one offensive move, the Beauty Shot, to come away with the win. Just picture an early Mike Tyson boxing match and you’ll have an idea of how quick this match ended. So a quick night for the Number One Contender for the NXT title.

While I’m never a fan of pimping a product, I would just like to say to all the readers, please buy the WWE Network. They’re now adding the 1980’s Saturday Night Main Event shows. I like only paying $10 a month to see the WWE PPV’s and don’t want it to stop on account of not enough business. So please, if you have the ability to order WWE Network, just do it.

Match 3- Women’s NXT Championship: Summer Rae vs. Charlotte (c)

Charlotte decides to mock Summer Rae’s dancing right after slapping the taste out of Summer’s mouth which quickly turns into a catfight. Charlotte continues to stay in control as she uses a variety of mat holds to wear down Summer.

Summer tosses Charlotte out of the ring and Summer finally is in control. As she applies various corner attacks, she continues to verbally berate Charlotte saying such gems as “I made you Charlotte!”. Summer gets Charlotte in a half Boston Crab and ‘Naitch’s daughter is forced to get dirty including biting Summer’s fingers when Summer tries to fish hook Charlotte.

Winner by pinfall and STILL NXT Women’s Champion...Charlotte.

Match 4- Tag: The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch) vs. Kalisto and Sin Cara

So we have two luchadors against some literal “old-school” wrestlers. According to the announcers, the two luchadors have never teamed up, I’ll just have to take their word on that. If that’s true, both luchadors starts off the match on the same page. Hopefully these two will stay together as partners because I can see a good team in them.

Simon Gotch finally gets tagged in and both he and Aiden English get an extended beat down on Sin Cara. However, Cara refuses to go down and hits English with an impressive modified powerbomb out of nowhere but can’t get the pinfall. Kalisto gets the hot tag and nails Gotch, allowing the luchadors to pick up the victory.

Winners by pinfall...Kalisto and Sin Cara

Main Event- Non-Title Singles: NXT Champion Adrian Neville vs. Мирослав Барняшев (Alexander Rusev) w/ Lana

Unfortunately Jack Swagger and Zeb Coulter are not on hand as Neville’s backup. Such a shame given the current rivalry. Lana comes out and does her typical “Rah! Rah! USSR”. I would like to point out to Lana that Adrian is not American, he’s British, so I don’t get her bashing the USA before this match.

Rusev no longer seems to be suffering from the ankle injury suffered at Battleground. Because of that Neville makes a serious miscalculation at first, trying to lock up with the Bulgarian Brute as Rusev easily overpowers the NXT champ.

Alex stays in control for the majority of the match but Neville finally musters some offense. Neville finally gets to use his speed, nailing Rusev with a missile dropkick. However, Tyler Breeze decides to show up and distract Neville, giving Rusev some time to recoup. However, the ref catches Tyler the second time he distracts Neville, calling for the bell.

Winner by disqualification...Adrian Neville

Just like at Main Event, Rusev can’t pick up a victory, however, he remains undefeated (no pinfall or submission losses) and slaps on the Accolade just to remind everyone who’s boss. We end the show with Rusev standing triumphantly over Neville.
