Smackdown!: Rusev and Reigns face off in Ottawa
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Roman Reigns lays into Rusev in the main event of Smackdown from Ottawa. Photos by Minas Panagiotakis, www.photography514.com.

Has a faction ever split up and all members get a push? Roman Reigns is in the Battleground Main Event, Seth Rollins is Mr. Money in the Bank, while his former partner Dean Ambrose feuds with him. What do we call it though? Summer of Shield won't work, since well, The Shield doesn't exist anymore. Well, I'm sure someone will come up with something as Smackdown! comes to us from Ottawa.

Rusev and Lana have no trouble lording their superiority over the Canadian crowd. Reigns comes down to the ring and wants Rusev in a match. Reigns asks for a referee, but Lana doesn't want her man facing Reigns, unless it is on her terms. And her terms mean later tonight in the Main Event.

Normally I'd rip Cole for shilling, but if you are reading this, WHY AREN'T YOU ORDERING THE WWE NETWORK? (I know Canadians can't get it yet, but when you can, DO IT!)

Match #1 - Cameron vs. AJ Lee

Not that we needed another reason to hate Total Divas, but that show is the reason Cameron wasn't given her walking papers. Cameron tries to walk out on the match, when her former tag team partner, Naomi catches her. Cameron is tossed back into the ring and AJ catches her with a Shining Wizard and covers for the pin.

Winner via pinfall: AJ Lee

Renee Young wants Randy Orton thoughts on Kane starting to hate him. It doesn't really bother him, since he has his Battleground match on his mind. Then, tonight he is going to introduce Chris Jericho to the legend killer.

Match #2 - Fandango w/ Layla vs. Adam Rose w/ Summer Rae

That Summer Rae really gets around, huh? First she's with Ziggler and now Adam Rose. It doesn't take long for Summer and Layla to start fighting. Fandango tries to break it up, gets hit in the face and gets counted out.

Winners via Count Out: Adam Rose

Fandango isn't happy and tries to cheap shot Rose, who ducks and drops Fandango with an inverted DDT.

Backstage, Chris Jericho tells Renee Young his match with Bray Wyatt at Battleground has a chance to be a classic.

Match #3 - The Usos vs. Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil

Slater leaps off the top turnbuckle into a kick and the Jimmy finishes him off with a big splash to get the pin.

Winners via pinfall: The Usos

After the match, The Usos tell Byron Saxton they are excited for their 2 out 3 falls match against The Wyatts. Jimmy also provides some play by play on what will go down next Sunday.

Chris Jericho leaps at Randy Orton

Match #4 - Chris Jericho vs. Randy Orton

After Jericho enter, Bray Wyatt pops up on the Titantron telling Chris to save himself. Jericho builds momentum toward a win after hitting a Lionsault, but the Wyatt intro starts and Jericho freezes. Orton takes advantage hitting the RKO and covering for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Randy Orton

Layla and Summer Rae dance, having disposed of Fandango.

Match #5 - Layla vs. Summer Rae - Fandango Special Guest Referee

I can't shake the feeling that we have seen this before. Layla kisses Fandango at the start of the match. Not to be outdone, Summer plants one on him too. The bell rings, but Fandango keeps the two Divas apart. Fandango puts on a little dance show of his own, and the girls aren't pleased. They attack Fandango. He leaves the ring and heads to the back as Layla and Summer look on.

No Contest

After the bell, Layla and Summer share a dance together.

Match #6 Curtis Axel w/ Ryback vs. Goldust w/ Stardust

Stardust rallies the crowd from atop the security barrier as his brother takes on Axel. Stardust then provides a distraction on the outside, allowing Goldy to hit Axel in the face. Goldust hits a power slam and then finishes Axel off with the Curtain Call.

Winner via pinfall: Goldust

Ryback hits the ring after bell, and picks Goldust up for the Shell Shock. Star hits the ring and blows gold flakes into Ryback's face to save his brother.

Match #7 Bo Dallas vs. EL Matadore and El Torito - 2 on 1 Handicap Match

Bo says he will be handi-capable in this match because all of his Bo-lievers are his parnter, tonight. El Torito never gets in the match, as Bo pins El Matadore with the running Bodog.

Winner via pinfall: Bo Dallas

After the match, Bo brings El Torito into the ring the hard way and hits him with the Bodog. Dallas celebrates his win with a victory lap.

Match #8 Rusev w/ Lana vs. Roman Reigns

Rusev comes out with kicks to legs of Reigns. Roman punches his way out of the corner and sends Rusev out of the ring. Back in the ring, a spinning heel kick catches Reigns on the jaw. Rusev follows with a head butt on the mat. Reigns gets back to his feet only to be cut down with a knee to the gut. After whipping Reigns into the corner, Rusev kicks him in the ribs, repeatedly. Reigns explodes out of the corner with a clothesline and follows with a Samoan Drop. Reigns then catches him with the running kick from the floor. Rusev walks into a Superman punch, but Randy Orton interferes before Reigns can finish him off. The ref calls for the bell.

Winner via DQ: Roman Reigns

Reigns takes out Orton with a Superman Punch, but then turns into a thrust kick from Rusev. Lana order Rusev from the ring, not allowing him to lock in the Accolade. Orton takes advantage and drops Reigns with an RKO to end the show.
