Impact: Young unable to top Lashley in rematch

With a new man in charge, TNA could be headed in a new direction. TNA Executive Director Kurt Angle has big plans for the company without MVP in the position to abuse power. Tonight on TNA Impact, Angle has his first big night in charges and his first order of business is giving Eric Young a rematch with TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley. Plus, the TNA Knockouts Championship and the TNA Tag Team Championships are on the line! All that and more on this week's edition of TNA Impact!

We are on tape from Bethlehem, Penn. Mike Tenay and Taz have the call for this week.

TNA Executive Director Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring. Angle notes American Independence Day being tomorrow and thinks of this as a day to celebrate TNA's new freedom. Angle calls this his "Red, White, and Blue Throwdown." Firstly, Angle calls Earl Hebner down to the ring and reinstates him. Angle then moves on to match announcements for the night. Ethan Carter III will wrestle Bully Ray in a tables match. A triple-threat match for the TNA Tag Team Championships will have The Wolves defending against The BroMans and The Menagerie and the TNA Knockouts Championship will be defended by Angelina Love against Gail Kim. Finally, Eric Young gets his TNA World Heavyweight Championship rematch against Bobby Lashley. Angle tells everyone to enjoy the entertainment on him tonight.

Samoa Joe comes in. Joe tells everyone to celebrate Angle coming to save TNA and then tells Angle he knows it is BS. Joe decries Angle as no different from his predecessors, saying Angle covets the TNA World Heavyweight Championship more than anything and wonders if he will be put himself in a match when his knee heals. Angle says Joe has been dealing with the same thing he has for eight years. Joe says Angle was bought and brought here and they didn't travel the same path. Joe claims to have always fought his way through to make his point.

Angle chides Joe for not taking his opportunities when given to him, claiming Joe didn't always bring his full game. Joe tells Angle to not question his dedication to pro wrestling and talks about his time on the independent scene while Angle was being flown around the country. Angle says this is the Joe he wanted to see and Joe tells Angle to be careful what he wishes for.

MVP on the phone. Bobby Roode walks in and MVP challenges him to a fight. Kenny King spears Roode into a loading dock door and slings him around on stage equipment. MVP chokes Roode with his crutch and tells Roode that he isn't someone to mess with as the two leave Roode laid out.

Angle meets with Roode in the trainer's room. Angle asks what happened and Roode tells Angle he was jumped by King and MVP. The two have history but respect each other and Roode just wants a fight with MVP tonight. Angle and Roode walk off to see what can be done.

Triple Threat Match One for the TNA Tag Team Championships: The Wolves (c) vs. The BroMans vs. The Menagerie

The BroMans send out The Wolves to start. The Menagerie send out Jessie Godderz and hit a double-hip toss on DJ Z that sends him flying into everyone outside. Inside, The Freak holding Eddie Edwards in a delayed vertical suplex. Davey Richards in and kicking the leg, only to get suplexed with his partner by The Freak. Jessie Godderz tags in and stomps down Edwards. DJ Z with some illegal offense from the apron as the referee ties up Godderz. Nearfall for Godderz leads to the top wristlock. Edwards off the ropes and he runs into a knee to the back from DJ Z. Dropkick from Godderz gets a nearfall.

DJ Z brought inside and stomping the head of Edwards. Elbow to the back of the head followed by more strikes and Godderz returns. Spinebuster on the knees of DJ Z puts Edwards down for a cover. The BroMans working the double-team offense. Edwards flips out of a backdrop suplex to hit a hurricanrana on both men. Davey Richards in with clotheslines and kicks for both members of the BroMans. Springboard back kick lands for Richards on Godderz and DJ Z sent out with an exploder suplex. Dropkicks for Knux and The Freak. Richards ducks and The Freak takes Knux outside with a clothesline.

Back inside, Richards runs into a back elbow. Edwards steps back inside and Godderz popped up by Edwards, only to be dropped down into a kick from Richards.

Winners by pinfall and still TNA Tag Team Champions: The Wolves

Kenny King and MVP in the office of Kurt Angle with Bobby Roode. Roode yelling at King and Angle silences the men. Angle says fighting will only be done in the ring and books MVP for a match with Roode. MVP notes he has a torn meniscus and has a doctor note to prove it. King steps up to Roode and tells him they already beat him tonight. Roode wants to fight right now in his street clothes. Angle books King and Roode for a street fight tonight and rushes Roode out as MVP and King snicker to themselves.

Bobby Roode hits the ring. Roode says thanks to Angle, he is back in TNA. Roode isn't wasting time and calls King out here. King asks if this is what Roode really wants. King says they already hurt his shoulder and invites MVP to come down and help him break Roode's neck. Kurt Angle steps out and forces MVP to go backstage to even the odds.

Street Fight Match Two: Bobby Roode vs. Kenny King

Bobby Roode with a clothesline from behind on the ramp. Roode brawling with Kenny King in front of the stage area. Roode with a trashcan across the back of King and slams him into the arena doors. King with a trashcan across the back as well and the two brawling along the technical area and into the crowd. King and Roode exchanging shots.

King sent down from the elevated level by Roode and Roode jumps down. Both men brawling and Roode sent into the guardrail. King charges and gets backdropped to the ringside floor. Roode with a chair and he turns into a spinning heel kick from King that sends the chair into his face.

Bell rings inside and King gets a nearfall before landing punches on Roode for another cover. Snap suplex into mounted punches from King earns another pin attempt. King moves out to get a chair and crossfaces Roode with shots while choking him on the second rope. King looking for the Royal Flush, but Roode lands on his feet and hits the Roode Bomb on the chaur.

Winner by pinfall: Bobby Roode

Ethan Carter III backstage and he says he doesn't know how long it will take for Bully Ray to know that he will never put him or TNA President Dixie Carter through a table because he is the "Hardcore American Icon."

Bobby Roode backstage. Roode says tonight is his first night back on the job, and despite an injured shoulder, Angle gave him what he needed by giving him a street fight tonight. Roode aiming for MVP and TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley after because he was destined to be a champion.

Austin Aries sitting with Kurt Angle. Aries calls himself "the greatest common denominator of greatness" because he brings out greatness no matter who he faces. Aries wants Angle's help in getting a shot at the TNA X Division Championship again. Angle knows Aries created "Option C" and gives him a shot at Sanada next week for the belt for a chance to run the table for a TNA World Heavyweight Championship shot again. Angle says he wants to have a match with Aries one day to prove who is truly the greatest and Aries says he would like that someday.

Brittany in the ring. Brittany wants to get something off her chest and invites Madison Rayne out. Rayne makes it to the ring and immediately tells Brittany that she is willing to fight her to get it through to her that it has gone too far. Brittany stops her and tells her that she was right. Brittany was naive and new to the company and Rayne was just trying to warn her. Brittany apologizes and says she looks up to Rayne. Brittany learned a very important lesson from all of this. Rayne understands and promises to be there for Brittany if she truly meant the apology. The two hug it out and Rayne raises the hand of Brittany.

Brittany refuses to let go and tells Rayne she learned another lesson and that was to never meet your heroes. Brittany with a clothesline and she tells Rayne because they always disappoint. Brittany sends Rayne into the ring post on her shoulder and hits a reverse DDT on the ringside floor.

Bully Ray making his way around backstage. Bully Ray says EC3 proved his toughness to him at Slammiversary, but he also proved that he needed luck on his side. Without Dixie Carter and Rockstar Spud, EC3 wouldn't have gotten out of that match. Bully Ray promises to make good on his promise to put his aunt through a table, but only after he completes the promise he made to EC3 first next.

MVP with TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley. MVP predicts that Lashley will be the longest reigning titleholder in history. MVP doesn't understand why Angle is throwing a gazelle to the lion tonight and tells Angle that he doesn't want to be held responsible for what he and Lashley do to Eric Young tonight.

Tables Match Three: Ethan Carter III vs. Bully Ray

Bully Ray immediately clubbing the back of Ethan Carter III and landing chops. Bully whipping EC3 from corner to corner and landing a clothesline. EC3 now having his head bounced in each corner. EC3 sent over the top and Bully follows him to bounce his head off the steel steps. Sledgehammer smash to the back of EC3 from the top of the steps from Bully.

Back inside, Bully misses a splash in the corner and EC3 with a knockdown. Back bodydrop attempt from EC3 countered by a boot from Bully and a combination of punches leads to a bionic elbow.

Bully calls for it and gets the table out. Table catty-cornered and EC3 comes back with a clothesline. EC3 bouncing the head of Bully off the canvas and he grabs the chain of Bully Ray. EC3 looking for a punch and Bully with chops to the chest. Clothesline from EC3 lands and Bully cornered. Mounted strikes in the corner landing for EC3. Bully lifts him and getting the powerbomb set up.

Rockstar Spud comes out and hits Bully with a low-blow from behind. Spud and EC3 on the attack. Rhino makes a surprise return and chases EC3 out of the ring. Spud almost hit with a Gore in the corner, but Rhino stops himself short. Bully up to his feet and Rhino turns and Gores Bully Ray. EC3 steps inside as the crowd is in shock and pops Bully up in the air and through the table.

Winner: Ethan Carter III

Bobby Roode offering Eric Young some encouragement prior to his main event match. Young says all the facts are against him, as he has lost three out of three against Lashley. Roode wants to know the facts about Young and Young says no one believed he could be champion and he did it. Young ready to go and Roode tells Young he will make sure MVP and Kenny King stay out of the match later tonight.

Rhino say he doesn't owe anyone anything and Bully Ray knows that better than anyone. Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud say the interview is over.

Video package promotes Bound for Glory in Japan.

Video package shows the recovery of Samuel Shaw with the help of Gunner.

Gunner with Samuel Shaw. Gunner asks how it feels for Shaw to be back and Shaw says it is a little weird. Gunner says they need to start with apologies and he needs to start with "you know who." Mr. Anderson steps down the hallway and is in disbelief. Gunner asks him to give him a second chance and Mr. Anderson asks why he should do that. Gunner reminds Anderson of his troubles with PTSD and that no one should ever be left behind. Anderson says for Shaw and Gunner to come with him.

The three enter a room to meet Christy Hemme. Hemme is scared at first but Gunner and Anderson calm her down and ask her to trust them. Anderson reintroduces the two and asks if Shaw has anything to say. Shaw says he has been in an institution and working on problems that stem from his childhood and apologizes for everything before walking out. Gunner upset with Hemme for not saying anything and Anderson and Hemme are confused on what to do.

Referee Brian Stiffler in the locker room of The Beautiful People. Stiffler saying many said he went too far last week. The Beautiful People tell him that Earl Hebner was wrong for treating him like a rookie and that he deserves to be head referee. Stiffler demanded to have this match tonight and The Beautiful People continue to be seductive, thinking they have tonight's match in the bag.

Kurt Angle meets with Brian Stiffler backstage. Angle tells Stiffler that his refereeing in matches involving The Beautiful People has made the company look foolish and sends Brian Hebner out to referee the match.

The Menagerie backstage. Knux giving the team a speech that they need to win to make money and keep their carnival business afloat. Crazzy Steve and The Freak blow their horn and flex respectively. Knux and Rebel walk off and remark on the work they need to do.

Match Four for the TNA Knockouts Championship: Angelina Love (c) (w/Velvet Sky) vs. Gail Kim

Angelina Love trying to butter up Brian Hebner and he has none of it. Gail Kim tries to land a strike and Love moves outside to consult with Velvet Sky. Gail Kim lands a slide kick on Love and moves outside. Hebner talking to both women to get them inside and Sky shoves Gail Kim into the ring post as Hebner talks to Love. Nearfall for Love inside.

Surfboard stretch in between the ropes from Love. Gail Kim sent outside and Love again laying moves on Hebner to let Sky land a clothesline. Love with another nearfall inside and landing strikes. Gail Kim hung in the tree of woe and Love stomping Gail Kim. Running dropkick lands for Love after Gail has her head bounced off the bottom turnbuckle. Love with another nearfall.

Back elbow out of the corner lands for Gail Kim. Forearms connecting and Love gets between the ropes. Sky on the apron and Gail Kim getting the better of her. Sky with a stunner on the top rope and Hebner ejects Sky. Small package from Gail Kim gets a close nearfall.

Bodydrop attempt from Love countered by clotheslines and elbows. Gail Kim up top and a missile dropkick lands that nearly wins the belt. Jawbreaker lands for Love, but Gail Kim with a trip. Gail Kim again going up top and she gets hit with a Botox Injection. The referee making the count and Love tells him to stop because she wants the pin. Love brings Gail Kim in and gets a nearfall.

Botox Injection attempt caught by Gail Kim. Love comes back with a forearm and grabs the arm of Gail Kim. Gail Kim breaks it and catches Love with Eat Defeat that lays Love out.

Kurt Angle talking about his first few weeks on the job. Angle says all titles are up for grabs next week, except the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. There will be a battle royal to determine the next contender for the belt next week.

Match Five for the TNA World Heavyweight Champion: Bobby Lashley (w/MVP) (c) vs. Eric Young (w/Bobby Roode)

Bobby Lashley with the immediate go-behind takedown. Elbow drop on Young misses and Young off the ropes, where he has his foot swept by MVP. Lashley off the ropes and Roode sweeps his foot in return. MVP and Roode are both ejected by referee Earl Hebner.

Back inside, Young landing rights. Lashley eats a back elbow in the corner and Young moves outside to celebrate with the fans. Young forces Lashley to chase and hits an elbow drop as Lashley gets into the ring. Lashley with shoulder bumps in the corner and Young coming back with strikes. Young up top and Lashley with a clothesline that sends Young to the floor. Young injured his ankle on the fall and Lashley moves outside and smashes the leg of Young across the apron and around the ring post.

Back inside, Young fighting back with punches, but he can't move and gets caught by a side kick to the stomach. Leg of Young swept and Lashley locks in a single-leg Boston Crab. DDT on the leg from Lashley gets a nearfall. Young cornered and he gets the boot up to send Lashley away. Missile dropkick from the top by Young lands. Young going up top for the elbow drop and he gets met by Lashley. Young with body shots and they exchange up top. Young gets Lashley down and lands the elbow drop from the top for a nearfall.

Piledriver called for by Young. Young unable to power Lashley up and Lashley hits on the Dominator. Spear lands for Lashley.

Winner by pinfall and still TNA World Heavyweight Champion: Bobby Lashley

The show closes with TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley celebrating his victory in the corner.
