Main Event: Team Ziggler vs. Team Cesaro

After a ruthless attack on Kofi Kingston on Raw, Paul Heyman client Cesaro aims to put his name in the list of favorites at Battleground in the battle royal for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Tonight on WWE Main Event, Cesaro takes on a fellow competitor in the battle royal in Dolph Ziggler. Plus, The Wyatt Family in tag action! All that and more on this week's edition of WWE Main Event!

We are LIVE from Newark, N.J. Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton have the call for this week.

Cesaro and Paul Heyman kick us off. Cesaro is sporting an eyepatch. Heyman said he delivered on a promise when he said his client was a conquerer and his client Brock Lesnar conquered "The Streak." Heyman knows there was a promised match tonight between "perennial runner-up" Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro, but it won't happen and the fans have Kofi Kingston to blame. Kingston shown raking the eye of Cesaro in their match on Raw and Heyman says there is an equal reaction to every action. Cesaro's post-match beating of Kingston on Raw shown. Cesaro will not compete tonight, but he promises to compete at the WWE Intercontinental Championship battle royal at Battleground.

Dolph Ziggler interrupts. Ziggler knows some people remember when he won the Money in the Bank match and cashed in successfully and held the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Ziggler asks when Cesaro achieved those goals. Ziggler tells Heyman to make Cesaro man up and face him tonight.

Big E steps out. Big E wants to remind everyone that he is also a former WWE Intercontinental Champion. Big E may have strayed from that path, but he plans on taking on every match and every obstacle in order to regain that title.


RybAxel make their way out. The team says they will not be stopped when they enter into the battle royal at Battleground. Rob Van Dam soon follows. RVD says everyone has their accomplishments and everyone in the ring is good, but not many are good enough to be RVD.

A brawl ensues and RVD, Big E, and Dolph Ziggler send out RybAxel as Cesaro and Paul Heyman stand atop the ramp.

The Wyatt Family interrupts the feed to inform New Jersey that they are coming and Erick Rowan gives warning to run.

The announce team are informed that Big E, Dolph Ziggler, and Rob Van Dam will team up against Cesaro and RybAxel later tonight.

Raw Rebound shows the returns of The Miz, Chris Jericho, and The Wyatt Family attacking Jericho.

Match One: R-Truth & Xavier Woods vs. The Wyatt Family

Luke Harper starting off with Xavier Woods. Woods with a dropkick and sneak tag from R-Truth allows Truth to land a heel kick. Back elbow from Truth soon countered by a big boot from Harper. Uppercut drops Truth and brings in Rowan. Rowan with a scoop slam and working the neck crank. Truth coming back with strikes and a kick out of the corner.

Woods in with a shoulder ram to the midsection. Sunset flip into a pair of forearms from Woods. Woods striking at will and a bodydrop puts him on the apron. Hangman's neckbreaker connects for Woods and a tornado DDT lands for a nearfall on Rowan. Forearms from Rowan and a spinning wheel kick gets Rowan a nearfall that is broken up by Truth.

Harper with a superkick on Truth. Truth dragged to the outside by Harper and Woods eats a side slam from Rowan.

Winners by pinfall: The Wyatt Family

Raw Rebound shows AJ Lee recapturing the WWE Divas Championship from Paige.

WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon on the screen. McMahon promises Nikki Bella that she wouldn't let the same thing happen to her tonight that happened last night and assigned her a new tag team partner.

Match Two: The Funkadactyls vs. Nikki Bella & Alicia Fox

Naomi starts with Nikki Bella. Bella with a dropkick to sends Naomi outside. Cameron pulls Bella's hair as she gets back inside and tags in. Cameron stomping Bella down and choking her before applying a surfboard stretch. Bella arm drags out and looks for the tag. Bella dives and Fox pulls her hand away. Fox with a push kick to the head and Cameron goes for the cover.

Winners by pinfall: The Funkadactyls

Renee Young with WWE United States Champion Sheamus. Young asks about the challenge Sheamus proposed for the WWE United States Championship on SmackDown on July 4th. Sheamus says this is America and he has become the hardest working man to hold the belt. Sheamus did it for the country he has come to love and the challenge is open to anyone.

Alberto Del Rio steps in. Del Rio says one title won't be enough for him once he wins the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Battleground so he'll take on Sheamus at SmackDown to give America something to celebrate.

Raw Rebound shows the new saga between WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena and The Authority.

Renee Young with Paul Heyman and Cesaro. Young asks why Heyman is trying to keep Cesaro out of competing tonight. Heyman asks if the peroxide finally went to Young's brain. Heyman says people in the WWE would rather forfeit than fight, calling out Bad News Barrett and Daniel Bryan in particular. Cesaro doesn't do that and plans to gives his victory speech at Battleground in five different languages.


Rob Van Dam makes a point to Big E, Dolph Ziggler, Curtis Axel and Ryback.

Match Three: Dolph Ziggler, Big E, & Rob Van Dam vs. Cesao (w/Paul Heyman) & RybAxel

Big E and Ryback start off. Ryback striking Big E into the corner and stomping him down. Big E comes back with clotheslines and a strikes of his own. Shoulder bump connects and Ryback sent flying on a belly-to-belly suplex. Curtis Axel in and hip tossed intside by Big E. Wristlock applied and Axel trying to tag out to Cesaro. Cesaro turning his head and talking to Paul Heyman.

Axel finally breaks free and tags in Cesaro. Cesaro brought inside by Big E and tag made to Dolph Ziggler. Cesaro works Ziggler into the corner. Ziggler rips the eyepatch off and Cesaro dives for a tag to Axel. Rob Van Damn brought in and landing on Axel. Splash in the corrner misses for Axel and RVD with a kick. Rolling Thunder lands and Ryback and Cesaro sent outside as we break.

Rob Van Dam landing kicks n Curtis Axel as we return. Jackknife cover gets RVD a nearfall. Axel works RVD into his corner to tag in Ryback. Ryback clubbing RVD down, only to run into a dropkick. RVD with mounted punches in the corner and a spinning wheel kick. Axel knocked off the apron and Ryback counters with a flapjack into the top turnbuckle.

Cesaro in and stomping RVD down. Scoop slam lands for a nearfall and rear chinlock applied by Cesaro. RVD fights out, only to be caught in a sleeper. Elbows and punches to the body land for RVD. Tag attempt stopped by Cesaro and RybAxel isolating RVD in their corner. Suplex from Ryback gets a nearfall on RVD.

Double-team offense from RybAxel and Cesaro returns. RVD sent into the corner and Cesaro with a boot to Ziggler on the apron. Springboard thrust kick off a back elbow from RVD. RVD dragged back to the opposing corner and Axel in with an elbow drop and a dropkick. Ryback inside and working RVD down with a front facelock and a scoop slam. Up top, Ryback misses on a splash from the top.

Ziggler in with Cesaro. Crossbody and mounted punches in the corner from Ziggler. Neckbreaker and Ziggler knocks Axel off the apron. Famouser attempt is turned into a powerbomb attempt by Cesaro. Ziggler rolls through and Cesaro rolls out of the sunset flip. Famouser connects and nearly puts Cesaro away. Zig Zag attempt shaken off by Cesaro and Ziggler with a jumping DDT. RVD and Big E put away RybAxel. Cesaro shoves RVD off the top into the pile below and Ziggler from behind with a Zig Zag.

Winners by pinfall: Dolph Ziggler, Big E, & Rob Van Dam

The show closes with the victors celebrating the win.
