Impact: Lashley becomes new TNA champion

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young came away with the belt yet again at Slammiversary. Despite all the odds being stacked against him, Young maintains a firm grasp on the hold. Tonight on TNA Impact, with an enraged TNA Director of Wrestling Operations and his stable breathing down his neck, what lies ahead for Young? Plus, TNA President Dixie Carter confronts Tommy Dreamer! All that and more on this week's edition of TNA Impact!

Recap of TNA Slammiversary.

We are LIVE from Bethlehem, Pa. Mike Tenay and Taz have the call for this week.

TNA Director of Wrestling Operations MVP makes his way out with Kenny King and Bobby Lashley. MVP calls TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young's win at Slammiversary a travesty because he received a reprimand from the TNA Board of Directors that forced him to give a fair main event. MVP has decided that Impact tonight will be run his way and invites EY out to the ring.

Eric Young makes his way out to the top of the ramp. Young says the only travesty at Slammiversary was him not getting to punch MVP. EY calls himself someone the people can trust. MVP accuses EY of colluding with Austin Aries to retain the belt. EY says the fans are the ones who call the shots and he is getting a little impatient, so he will come down to the ring and beat MVP if it is okay with the audience. MVP says EY would love to take advantage of his injured knee while he's on crutches. Kenny King takes the microphone and tells EY he will get what he wants as he challenges him for the belt.


EY asks if the crowd wants to see that and invites referee Earl Hebner to come officiate.

Match One for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Eric Young (c) vs. Kenny King (w/MVP & Bobby Lashley)

Kenny King charges Eric Young to start and misses in the corner. EY with punches and corner work before landing a dropkick for a nearfall .EY applies a rear chinlock. King takes the side headlock and gets a shoulder block. Young leapfrogs and ducks into a Thesz Press and lands punches. King cornered and Young charges. King lifts him and crotches him on the top rope. Tornado kick sends Young to the floor.

MVP and Bobby Lashley stand over EY and Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, and TNA Tag Team Champions The Wolves make their way out with chairs to ensure a fair fight. King lands a corkscrew plancha to the outside on EY and brings it back inside for a nearfall. Spinning leg lariat from King gets another nearfall.

Rear chinlock in for King. Young fights out with body shots and avoids an attack from King. Forearms, elbows, and clotheslines landing for EY. EY up top and King runs under the flying attack to land running knees to send Young into the corner. Exploder suplex gets a nearfall and Young put up for the Royal Flush. Small package from Young.

Winner by pinfall and STILL TNA World Heavyweight Champion: Eric Young

We return to see MVP smacking the timekeeper around. MVP asking if the timekeeper was colluding with anyone and demands him to look at him when he speaks. EY, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, and The Wolves come back down to make the save and security is forced to separate the two groups.

MVP in the ring. MVP asks if they think this is all a game to them. MVP runs this company and he is putting his foot down. MVP gives Eric Young a second title defense tonight against Bobby Lashley. MVP then declares that security will escort every roster member out until himself, King, Lashley, and Young are the only people left. MVP then books TNA Tag Team Champions The Wolves against Joe and Aries and one other tag team.

Earl Hebner is invited out. MVP says he wouldn't even slap a senior citizen and everyone would be complaining to the TNA Board of Directors. MVP fires Earl Hebner and Brian Hebner comes out to the defense of his father. MVP tells Brian Hebner to leave unless he wants to join his father. Earl Hebner tells MVP people like him make him hate the wrestling business and he loves the fans. MVP declares that the title will come to them tonight.

TNA President Dixie Carter with Ethan Carter III backstage. Dixie says MVP is backing up everything she told the TNA Board of Directors and she is most excited about EC3's Slammiversary win over Bully Ray. EC3 says he beat Sting, Kurt Angle, and now Bully Ray. EC3 declares himself a "Hardcore American Icon." Dixie is asked about Tommy Dreamer being invited tonight and Dixie plans to confront him over his comments on social media in the ring. EC3 is given the night off and sent to Dixie's office for a massage.

Eric Young asked about having to defend his title again tonight. Young says he'll defend his belt all night if need be and MVP has gone too far by interfering with Earl Hebner and his livelihood. Young gets a call and tells the person on the other end of the line he needs him here tonight. Young runs off and we see that Kurt Angle was the caller.

Match Two for the TNA Tag Team Championships: The Wolves (c) vs. Samoa Joe & Austin Aries vs. Willow & Abyss

Willow starts off with Austin Aries. Aries with the waistlock takedown and a nearfall as he locks in the rear chinlock. Willow with body shots and he gets out to float over in the corner to land a headscissors. Samoa Joe in and striking away on Willow. Willow with a jawbreaker.

Abyss in with a splash in the corner. Abyss on all fours and Willow with a splash off his partner. Joe ducks an attack from Abyss and locks in the Coquina Clutch. Willow in to break it and he gets caught in the Last Chancery from Aries. The Wolves step in to break the submissions. Aries and Joe sent outside and The Wolves abort on a suicide dive. Aries and Joe quickly back inside to land a tandem suicide dive.

We return with Abyss dropping Davey Richards. Abyss working Richards in the corner. Richards ducks an attack from Abyss and gets caught in a Chokeslam. Eddie Edwards comes off the top rope and gets caught in the same. The Wolves flip out and duck a clothesline to connect on dropkicks in stereo.

Aries tags back in and sends The Wolves into each other. The Wolves sandwiched in the corner and Aries with a running dropkick. Richards up for the Brainbuster, but he catapults Aries into the ropes and across his knees. Edwards with a knee drop from the top and Richards earns a nearfall.

Edwards and Richards with quick tags and strikes on Aries. Aries fighting back with forearms. Double-team attack from The Wolves sees Willow break the nearfall. Richards and Aries exchanging shots. Richards with a springboard back kick. Abyss inside and going for a Chokeslam. Aries stomps the foot and lands a discus forearm.

Samoa Joe in with an atomic drop, boot, and back splash. Abyss clubs back but gets powerslammed for a nearfall. Abyss gets missile dropkicked and Willow brought in. Aries steps in and sent out on top of The Wolves. Willow takes out Aries, Joe, and The Wolves outside. Back inside, Willow with a Swanton onto the knees of Richards. Edwards pops Willow up and Richards with a backstabber.

Winners by pinfall and STILL TNA Tag Team Champions: The Wolves

MVP, Kenny King, and Bobby Lashley planning on how to handle Kurt Angle tonight to complete their plan.

Mike Tenay and Taz recap the social media feud between TNA President Dixie Carter and Tommy Dreamer over Carter pulling TNA talent from Dreamer's House of Hardcore promotion.

The Wolves run into MVP backstage. MVP tells The Wolves that he forgot to include a team in their match earlier so they get to defend their titles a second time tonight. The Wolves tell MVP to be careful what he wishes for and MVP tells security to throw them out after their match.

Dixie Carter and Rockstar Spud make their way to the ring. Carter thanks the crowd and wants to celebrate Slammiversary and EC3's win over Bully Ray. Carter says Bully couldn't be here tonight and she tells Bully, who is watching at home, that she will never go through a table. Carter reiterates she runs TNA and takes shots at MVP.

Carter gets down to the business at hand. Carter says one person is also digging their own grave and trying to make money off her name. Carter asks Rockstar Spud for his name and Spud tells her that Tommy Dreamer is his name. Carter asks for Tommy Dreamer.

Tommy Dreamer makes his way to the ring. Carter tells Dreamer that this is better to be face-to-face than behind a keyboard. Carter knows what Dreamer said about her and is prepared for an apology.

Dreamer thanks Carter for having him and this is strictly a business discussion. Dreamer recalls the history between himself and Carter on social media, planning Hardcore Justice and him joining TNA. Dreamer says Carter is no longer the same woman. Dreamer is ashamed to be a pro wrestler because of what he sees on TV. Dreamer tells Carter that this is about the people backstage that would die for her and her making the show about herself. Dreamer runs a small promotion and he knows how it can affect people. Dreamer saw that at Slammiversary when she exploded in joy with her family after seeing Kevin Von Erich apply The Claw. Dreamer calls for Carter to do the right thing for wrestling.

Carter and Dreamer embrace and Carter knees Dreamer in the groin. Ethan Carter III comes out and attacks Dreamer as Carter tells Dreamer to stop trying to get publicity off her name and they toss him out of the ring.

Kurt Angle arrives backstage. King and Lashley meet him with bats and tell him to leave. Angle only wants to talk to MVP and King goes to get him as Lashley keeps an eye on him.

MVP meets with Angle. MVP tells Angle to wait on him while he takes care of some business and Lashley and King will keep an eye on him until then.

Match Three for the TNA Tag Team Championships: The Wolves (c) vs. Magnus & Bram

Magnus and Bram assault The Wolves to start and go to work on Eddie Edwards in their corner. Edwards sent into the corner and he floats over to land a hurricanrana on Magnus. Davey Richards in with a sledge to the arm of Magnus. The Wolves now working the double-team attack on Magnus.

Magnus moves outside. Bram sneaks up and attacks Edwards with a clothesline and sends him into the ring post. Bram legal now and striking Edwards inside. Edwads striking back and Bram goes for a backdrop suplex. Edwards flips out and kicks Bram away. Magnus tags and again prevents the hot tag to Ruchards. Edwards with an enzuigiri.

Richards back in and a kick lands on Bram on the apron. Clothesline and back elbows from Richards. Enzuigiri drops Magnus and Richards with a running kick in the corner. Roundhouse kicks to the chest connecting. Bram runs in and Richards sends him into Magnus. Dropkick on Magnus forces an accidental DDT of Bram. Missile dropkick gets a nearfall on Magnus.

Richards up top once again and he misses on a flying foot stomp. Magnus with a chair and he tosses it in the face of Richards as he charges in.

Winners by disqualification and STILL TNA Tag Team Champions: The Wolves

Post-match, Eddie Edwards drilled with the chair as well. Edwards has the chair placed around his neck and Magnus up top. Willow and Abyss come out to make the save.

MVP with Brian Hebner backstage. MVP asks Hebner if he was crying and tells Hebner there is no crying in pro wrestling. MVP consoles Hebner with tongue in cheek and declares Hebner the referee for tonight's main event. Hebner confounded and MVP tells Hebner that he can keep providing for his family if he counts to three tonight on EY.

Willow and Abyss shown brawling with Bram and Magnus backstage.

Gail Kim in the ring and she introduces Taryn Terrell back. Gail Kim says herself and Terrell didn't get along to begin with but she proved herself to Gail at last year's Slammiversary. Gail Kim says Terrell earned her respect and that's why she wanted to welcome her back. Terrell thanks Gail Kim and talks about their series being tied one to one. Terrell believes the fans want to see a tiebreaker.

The Beautiful People make their way out. TNA Knockouts Champion Angelina Love taunts the two, asking Gail Kim if she kicked her in the head too hard. Velvet Sky chimes in and Love says she doesn't believe that she has introduced herself to Terrell. The Beautiful People attack and Terrell comes back to save Gail Kim. The Beautiful People sent outside as Gail Kim and Terrell stand tall in the ring.

MVP meets Kurt Angle. Angle asks if MVP thinks he is doing the right thing. MVP asks Angle what he thinks he is doing. Mind games won't stop MVP and he tells Angle to drop it and celebrate with them or continue to pick a fight he can't win. King steps to Angle and tells him to leave. Angle tells King to get out of his face and drops him. Angle challenges Lashley and MVP to do something as he steps away.

Security shown sending Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell out. Jeremy Borash interviews MVP and MVP asks if everyone is gone. Borash says the area is clear and MVP says it isn't because Borash is still here. Borash sent out by security and MVP tells the cameraman to drop the camera and leave as well.

Match Four for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Eric Young (c) vs. Bobby Lashley (w/MVP & Kenny King)

Bobby Lashley opening up with an arm wrench. Eric Young leapfrogs and ducks to get a clothesline and another sends Lashley outside. Young up top and he connects on a crossbody to the floor. Back inside, Lashley catches the crossbody. Young wiggles out and hits a rollup for a nearfall.

Back bodydrop sends Young crashing to the mat and Lashley sends Young outside as we break.

Lashley getting a nearfall as we return. Delayed vertical suplex puts Young down and Lashley gets another nearfall as Lashley focuses the offense on the back of Young. EY cornered and he gets the elbow up and a boot in another corner. Right hands from EY landing and a flying forearm connects. Dropkick follows and EY going up top. Crossbody connects for an EY nearfall.

Lashley with a right hand and he misses a splash in the corner. Side kick from Lashley connects. Young sent off into the corner and he floats over, only to be caught by Lashley. Young wiggles out and Lashley catches him again for a backdrop suplex. Young flips out and kicks the midsection. Piledriver converts for Young.

Referee Brian Hebner pulled out of the ring by Kenny King. King latches onto Young and tries to get Lashley a cheap shot. Young ducks away and Lashley knocks out his partner. EY with a DDT inside and Brian Hebner reenters the ring. Young up top and going for the elbow drop. EY misses and Lashley stalking. Spear connects.

Winner by pinfall and NEW TNA World Heavyweight Champion: Bobby Lashley

Post-match, MVP and Kenny King celebrate with the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion. MVP stalking EY now and Young has his arm placed between a chair. King and MVP stepping down on it as Young crawls away.

Bobby Roode comes in from the crowd and sends King out. King tries to sneak attack as Roode taunts Lashley and MVP at ringside, only to get dropped and sent out again. The show closes with Roode and Young standing in the ring as MVP, King, and Lashley move away.
