NXT: Ascension rises as Kidd abandons Zayn

Tyson Kidd has been climbing the peaks and heading down the valleys since returning to NXT. Having dropped two straight NXT Championship shots, Kidd is a mental crossroads. Tonight on WWE NXT, Kidd teams up with Sami Zayn to challenge the NXT Tag Team Champions, The Ascension, for the belts. Plus, women's action and the debut of The Vaudevillains! All that and more on this week's edition of WWE NXT!

Video from Raw backstage shows Natalya suggesting Tyson Kidd team up with Sami Zayn to NXT Commissioner John "Bradshaw" Layfield.

We are on tape from Orlando, Fla. Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, and William Regal have the call for this week.

Match One: Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks (w/Charlotte & Summer Rae)

Sasha Banks gets in the face of Alexa Bliss to start and gets a side headlock. Banks with a shoulder block and Bliss leapfrogging and ducking into an arm drag. Tilt-a-whirl small package gets Bliss the first nearfall of the contest.

Bliss with a dropkick and a monkey flip out of the corner. Diving for the leg, Bliss caught by Banks. Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker caught by Banks for a nearfall. Surfboard stretch applied by Banks for a nearfall.

Summer Rae and NXT Women's Champion arguing outside. Banks works a camel clutch after checking on her partners. The arguing continues outside and Bliss with a rollup.

Winner by pinfall: Alexa Bliss

Post-match, The Beautiful Fierce Females shove and slap one another before going their separate ways for the night.

Natalya with Tyson Kidd backstage. Kidd blames Natalya for costing him the win last week. Natalya questions whether or not Kidd wanted to win the match that way. Kidd then blasts Natalya for setting up his match for him tonight. Natalya did it as a favor and tells Kidd that it was done out of care as cooler heads prevail for now.

Simon Gotch and Aiden English in a silent film stylized promo. English and Gotch plan to take NXT by storm and they plan to do that by making their debut in tag action tonight.

Match Two: Mojo Rawley vs. Garrett Dylan

Mojo Rawley gets the side headlock takeover. Garrett Dylan with a headscissors and Rawley counters. Splash from Dylan misses in the corner and Rawley with shoulder rams. Rawley again ramming Dylan in the corner. Dylan hits a drop toehold to send Rawley into the second turnbuckle and lands a sidewalk slam for a nearfall.

Corner work landing for Dylan in the form of chops and body shots. Dylan keeping Rawley down with strikes and locks in the abdominal stretch. Rawley slams his way out and works punches. Shoulder tackle lands and corner splashes connect for Rawley. Hip attack leads to Hyper Drive.

Winner by pinfall: Mojo Rawley

Sami Zayn meets up with Tyson Kidd backstage. Zayn asks if Kidd is ready for tonight. Zayn reminds Kidd they are both coming off big losses and declares tonight a restart for the two.

An announcement informs us that Tyler Breeze is in the building.

Aiden English gives the formal introduction for The Vaudevillains.

Match Three: The Vaudevillains vs. Travis Tyler & Angelo Dawkins

Simon Gotch starts with Angelo Dawkins. Dawkins with the waistlock takedown. Gotch spins out into a hammerlock and starts doing one-armed pushups. Travis Tyler brought in and Gotch tags in Aiden English. Swinging neckbreaker from English gets a nearfall.

English with a leg drop before bringing Gotch back in. Snapmare into an armbar and Gotch does Hindu squats while setting up the hold. English back in with body shots and Gotch back in with a punch to the midsection. Rolling senton from Gotch brings English in for a senton from the top.

Winners by pinfall: The Vaudevillains

Colin Cassady with Devin Taylor. Cassady says things are going smoothly for him, but something is missing and it is time to sing a different tune. Cassady sings a few lines from "That's Amore," stopping before singing the title.

Rob Van Dam with Devin Taylor. Taylor asks what brings RVD to NXT. RVD came to see where all of the future talent is coming from and he wants to wrestle NXT Champion Adrian Neville.

Match Four: Tyler Breeze vs. Kalisto

Lockup sees Kalisto muscled into the corner by Tyler Breeze. Reset sees Breeze attempt a whip out of the corner and Kalisto cartwheeling out. Side headlock applied by Breeze and he gets the side headlock takeover. Armbar applied by Breeze in the hold and Breeze with the first nearfall of the contest.

Kalisto unable to get Breeze to break the side headlock. Kalisto turns Breeze over and stacks him for a nearfall. Kalisto tries to send Breeze off the ropes and fails to do so. Kalisto falls back and rolls out to hit a springboard corkscrew crossbody. Kalisto flips into a handstand and lands a headscissors that sends Breeze outside. Kalisto bounces off the ropes on a dive as Breeze moves to avoid the attack as we break.

Jawbreaker lands for Breeze and he works Kalisto in the corner. Nearfall for Breeze turns into a front facelock. Kalisto unable to break the hold and Breeze with a knee to the midsection. Kalisto backflips into a hurricanana and hooks the leg for a nearfall.

Breeze comes back with a forearm and lands punches for a nearfall. Breeze clubs the back and reapplies a front facelock. Kalisto again struggling and Breeze with a corner bulldog. Kalisto moves to the apron and lands an upkick from his back. Springboard crossbody converts for Kalisto. Punches for Kalisto lead to a caught kick that Breeze turns into a rollup. Kalisto rolls through to land a kick and nearly steals the match. Kalisto up top and Breeze moves under the attack. Kalisto ducks the Superkick from Breeze and Kalisto springboards into a Beauty Shot..

Winner by pinfall: Tyler Breeze

Match Five for the NXT Tag Team Championships: The Ascension (c) vs. Tyson Kidd & Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn starts with Viktor. Viktor with the waistlock and clubbing Zayn. Corner work connecting on Zayn. Viktor sending Zayn off the ropes to land shots to the lower back. Zayn springboards into a leapfrog and lands a heel kick on Viktor for the first nearfall of the match,

Zayn looks for a tag and Viktor runs Zayn into the corner to bring in Konnor. Konnor landing strikes and stomps in the corner to earn Viktor a nearfall as he returns. Zayn exchanging forearms before Viktor overwhelms him. Konnor back in with corner work and Viktor preventing the tag as he returns. Zayn reaching and Viktor with a backdrop suplex for a nearfall.

Tyson Kidd drops off the apron as Zayn fights off Viktor with a crossbody out of the corner. Zayn looking for the tag and Kidd stands halfway up the ramp. Konnor in with a corner splash and The Fall of Man converts.

Winners by pinfall and still NXT Tag Team Champions: The Ascension

The show closes with The Ascension lurking over Sami Zayn and Tyson Kidd going behind the curtain.
