Main Event: Bad News for RVD in IC title rematch

Rob Van Dam fell short at Payback, as the bad news was that he couldn't capture the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Bad News Barrett. Tonight on WWE Main Event, RVD earns himself another shot at Barrett. Will Barrett deliver some bad news via Bull Hammer? Plus, Goldust continues the search for a tag team partner. All that and more on this week's edition of WWE Main Event!

We are LIVE from Cincinnati, Ohio. Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton have the call for this week.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett makes his way to the ring. Barrett successfully defended his belt against Rob Van Dam at Payback. Barrett recalls that night and Raw last night, where he claims Cesaro abandoned him and RVD cheaply earned a rematch. Barrett takes shots at RVD and his age, claiming he repeats his initials just to remind himself of who he is. Barrett calls RVD a zombie and tells him that he has got some bad news. Barrett plans to connect on one more Bull Hammer and puts RVD on the cast of The Walking Dead.

RVD gets into the ring and lands a few kicks that send Barrett to the outside. Barrett leaves with his belt in his hand as RVD takes a stand in the ring.

Recap of WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan refusing to relinquish his title to WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella quitting at Payback.

Raw Rebound shows Stephanie McMahon laying out the future of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank if Bryan can or cannot compete.

Match One: Goldust & Kofi Kingston vs. The Wyatt Family

Erick Rowan starts off with Goldust. Goldust does his signature taunt and Rowan remains unfazed. Rowan muscles Goldust into the corner and Goldust ducks out to land an uppercut. Rowan out of the corner and clubbing Goldust down. Scoop slam attempt countered by a Goldust dropkick. Kofi Kingston in and a double team dropkick gets the first nearfall of the contest.

Hammerlock applied by Kingston and Rowan elbows out. Kingston off the ropes and counters out of a Rowan attack to land a dropkick. Mounted punches in the corner get Kingston an uppercut and Goldust brought back in. Rake of the back leads to a side headlock for Goldust.

Luke Harper in as Rowan moves to the corner. Harper with a brief spurt of offense before being hit with a bulldog from Goldust that gets a quick nearfall. Kingston brought back with a double-foot stomp to the arm of Harper. Kingston landing kicks that drop Harper for a nearfall. Kingston with a kick to the arm and he heads off the ropes, running into a Harper dropkick for a nearfall.

Rowan in and clubbing Kingston down. Scoop slam from Rowan lands. Kingston fighting to his feet and a tries a sunset flip. Rowan picks him up in a choke and sends him into the corner. Kingston with a pendulum kick and looking to tag. Harper charges to save the tag and gets the rope pulled down on him.

Hot tag made to Goldust and he connects with a clothesline and an uppercut. Inverted atomic drop leads to a flurry of strikes from Goldust. Hurricanrana out of the corner lands for Goldust and a powerslam gets a nearfall. Harper on the apron and Goldust distracted. Spinning heel kick from Rowan puts Goldust down as we break.

Harper landing uppercuts and elbow drops as we return. Rowan brought in and a leg drop gets a close nearfall. Goldust kicking Rowan away before being droped with a clothesline to the back of the head. Sleeper into a head clamp applied by Rowan. Goldust into the corner and he catches himself to land a back elbow. Harper in to prevent the tag and Goldust sent to the corner. Sunset flip bomb out of the corner lands and Goldust searching for the tag.

Kingston in with a springboard forearm. Kingston knocks Rowan off the apron and gets the Boom Drop on Harper. Rowan distracts Kingston before Trouble in Paradise and Harper looks to capitalize. Kingston springboards into a crossbody attempt, only to be kicked in the chest by the boot of Harper. Nearfall broken by Goldust, who gets sent outside. Kingston fights back and Harper sent outside by a hurricanrana.

Flip dive to the outside connects for Kingston and nearfall inside broken by Rowan. Goldust takes Rowan outside and gets knocked off the apron by Harper. Kingston rolls up Harper and looks for Trouble in Paradise, only to be taken out by the discus clothesline.

Winners by pinfall: The Wyatt Family

Raw Rebound shows Sheamus and Rob Van Dam defeating Cesaro and Bad News Barrett.

Rob Van Dam joins Renee Young backstage. Young asks if RVD has anything to say prior to the match. RVD says Barrett is mistaking his coolness for weakness. RVD plans to demonstrate that Barrett shouldn't count losses one at a time and that the WWE Intercontinental Championship will go home with RVD tonight.

Match Two for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Bad News Barrett (c) vs. Rob Van Dam

Lockup stars us off and Rob Van Dam gets the side headlock. Bad News Barrett sends RVD off the ropes to break the hold. Reset sees Barrett with a kick to the midsection to get the side headlock. RVD reverses into one of his own and a stalemate shoulder bump between the two as RVD comes off the ropes. Jumping spin kick from RVD lands for the first nearfall of the contest.

Running dropkick in the corner lands for RVD and he goes to work with the shoulder ram to the midsection. Kicks connecting and a spinning heel kick lands for another RVD nearfall. Barrett moves outside to regroup. RVD with a dropkick to keep Barrett off the apron. RVD moves to the apron and gets a flip dive that puts Barrett on the floor. RVD stomping Barrett down and sends him inside for another nearfall.

Corner work landing for RVD and shoulder rams follow before RVD uses the boot to choke Barrett. Kick lands and RVD sent into the corner. Back elbow sends Barrett away and RVD leaps to the top rope, only to be shoved down and land on the barricade as we break.

We return with Barrett working a rear chinlock on RVD. Elbows get RVD outt and he is sent to the corner .Float over attempt is caught by Barrett and he lands a punt to the midsection that gets a nearfall. Barrett choking RVD and landing knees in the clinch before a boot sends RVD out to the floor. RVD has his head bounced off the ring steps outside before Barrett brings it back in for a pin attempt.

Clubbing punches keeping RVD down. Barrett up top and lands an elbow drop that nearly retains the belt. RVD ran into the corner on the apron and clubbed as he lays across the top rope. Running knee lift to the abdomen gets Barrett another nearfall.

Barrett working in the corner. RVD sent off into the corner and he lands a back elbow. Springboard right into a Barrett clothesline from RVD and Barrett gets a pin attempt before applying a rear chinlock. Body shots getting the hold broken for RVD. RVD again cornered and Barrett tries for a kick, only for RVD to duck away and crotch Barrett on the top as both men are down for the count of the referee. RVD up with clotheslines and a side kick that lead to a Rolling Thunder nearfall.

RVD landing strikes and flips out of a backdrop. Barrett counters with Winds of Change and nearly takes the match. Barrett landing shots and RVD trading with him. Splash in the corner misses for Barrett and RVD with a kick. RVD up top and he gets crotched. Bad News Bull Hammer all set up. Cesaro runs in and hits a Neutralizer on Barrett.

Winner by disqualification and still WWE Intercontinental Champion: Bad News Barrett

Post-match, Cesaro connects on a Neutralizer on Rob Van Dam. Cesaro moves to the top of the ramp to shake hands and be congratulated by Paul Heyman.The show closes with Cesaro and Paul Heyman looking to the ring from the top of the ramp.
