Smackdown!: Cena accepts Bray's challenge; issues his own
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

In can you missed it on Monday, WWE World Heavyweight Champ, Daniel Bryan announced that he will be taking some time off to deal with a neck injury. Word is right now, that he may be out until SummerSlam. What does this mean for tonight's Smackdown! from Greensboro, North Carolina? Probably not much, but we shall see.

Snarky fans across the WWE Universe just died a little inside as John Cena kicks off the show. Cena wishes Daniel Bryan the best to start, before getting down to business with Bray Wyatt. Cena doesn't know what exactly Wyatt is challenging him to, but he surely can't be challenging him to a Last Man Standing Match. Cena is a veteran of these type of matches, and he doesn't think Wyatt has the, as Vince McMahon would say, grapefruits to go through with it. Cena first mocks Bray, but then accepts the challenge. HE then issues an open challenge to the Wyatt Family. Cena wants Bray to pick his opponent, tonight, and prove that Bray doesn't have the courage to face him.

Bray and clan pop up on the Titantron to answer the challenge. He calls Cena out for making jokes, but then thanks him for bringing out something in him that wasn't there.

Match #1 - The Usos vs. Cody Rhodes and Goldust

Cody and Goldust have had their troubles, lately, possibly teasing a break up and a feud. Goldust sends Jey into the ring post and drop to the floor to deliver a punch to the throat. Jey sends Goldust to the floor with a low bridge, but Cody is able to roll his brother back in the ring and get the tag. Jimmy also get a tag, and is able to splash Cody in the corner. Jimmy counters Cross Rhodes and hits a moonsault. Goldust gets kicked off the apron, but Jimmy doesn't see the Disaster kick from Cody. Jey breaks the pin and allows his brother to connect with a superkick. Jimmy connects with a splash from the top and covers to get the win.

Winners via pinfall: The Usos

After the match, Cody is visibly upset, ignoring his brother on the way back up the ramp.

Winners via pinfall: Cesaro and Bad News Barrett

Match #2 - El Torito w/ Los Matadors vs. Heath Slater w/ 3MB

Hasn't this feud about run its course? Slater mistakenly takes a cape, and starts to "Ole!" with Torito. Hornswoggle tries to interfere, but head butts Slater down south. Torito rolls Slater up to get the win.

Winner via submission: El Torito

Bray Wyatt cuts another promo on John Cena; questioning Cena's judgment.

Match #3 - Natalya vs. Nikki Bella - Eva Maria Special Referee

So this feud started when Nikki told Nattie that she didn't like the painting Nattie made for her. But since that aired on Total Divas, it means this match has been brewing for at least three months. Nikki gets the win after countering a surfboard into a pin. Nattie isn't not happy with Eva over the call.

Winners via pinfall: Nikki Bella

Renee Young asks Dolph Ziggler why he interjected himself in the Evolution/Shield dispute. Ziggler says Batista didn't really evolve and is the weak link in Evolution.

Match #4 Dolph Ziggler vs. Batista

You mad, bro? Yes, Batista is indeed mad. The Animal pulls Ziggler from the ring and slams him into the security barrier. He then whips Ziggler into the ring steps, before rolling him back into the ring. Batista tosses Ziggler across the ring by his hair. The Animal follows with a suplex, but Dolph gets a shoulder up at two. Ziggler fights out of a Batista Bomb and plants him with a DDT. Dolph jumps Batista in the corner, who answers with a blatant low blow. The ref calls for the bell, but it doesn't stop The Animal from delivering a Batista Bomb.

Winner via disqualification: Dolph Ziggler

Batista leaves the ring, but then decides to get him some more. He tosses Ziggler to the floor and then slams him into the security barrier. He follows with another Batista Bomb to the floor before officials can restore order.

Remember, always Bo-lieve in yourself.

Match #5 Sheamus vs. Titus O'Neil

Titus wants to know how Sheamus can be the United States Champion if he isn't from the US. He then gives Sheamus a chance to get out of the ring. The bell rings and O'Neil walks right into a Brogue Kick. Sheamus covers and gets the win.

Winner via pinfall: Sheamus

Byron Saxton tracks down Adam Rose on the Exotic Express and wants to know why he has a problem with Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger. Rose says he just wants them to lighten up and have some fun. Saxton gets a rainbow wig and joins the party.

Match #6 Damien Sandow vs. Santino w/ Emma

Sandow doesn't screw around, pummeling Santino to start the match. Santino drives Sandow into the ring post and pulls out the cobra. The cobra strikes and Santino gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Santino

After the bell, Sandow grabs the mic to rant about being a good soldier.

Match #7 R-Truth vs. Cesaro w/ Paul Heyman

R-Truth nearly steals a win with a roll up, but Cesaro kicks out. Truth keeps the pressure on with a spinning heel kick, but runs into the uppercut. Cesaro hits a stunned Truth with the Nuetralizer and gets the win.

Winners via pinfall: Cesaro

Cole tells us that Bryan's surgery was a success and we hope to hear from him on Monday.

Match #8 John Cena vs. Erik Rowan w/ Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper

The Wyatt Family surrounds the ring, stalking Cena, but The Usos run down to offer some back up. Bray still hasn't picked who will face Cena. He whisper something to Rowan, who takes his mask off and heads to the ring. Rowan beats on Cena in the corner and the drives him into the turnbuckle. Cena is shot off the ropes into an uppercut and slammed to the mat. Cena is tossed to the floor. Rowan whips him into the ring steps. Back in the ring, Cena powers out of head vice. Cena connects with a standing drop kick, but then runs into a boot from Rowan. A head butt staggers Cena and a shoulder block sends him to the mat. Cena rolls away from a splash, but then leaps into a bear hug. Rowan hits a side slam, but can't get the pin. Cena answers with a side walk slam, and follows with the five knuckle shuffle. Rowan counters the AA and hits a fall away slam. Rowan runs into Cena and then kicks him in the rips. Cena catches Rowan by the leg and is able to lock in the STF. Harper hits the ring, but is taken out by The Usos. Cena walks into the claw and is slammed into the mat. Cena kicks out at two and then counters the pump handled slam into an AA. The Usos keep Bray from running in and Cena is able to cover for the win.

Winners via pinfall: Cesaro
