Impact: MVP targets Young for Slammiversary

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young is different, to say the least. One major difference is that Young promised TNA fans to be a fighting champion and defend his belt each week. Tonight on TNA Impact, Young plans to live up to his word. However, MVP has an opponent planned for him a Slammiversary. Who will be the number one contender? Plus, a ladder match with the TNA Tag Team Championships up for grabs! All that and more on this week's edition of TNA Impact!

Bully Ray shown driving into Nashville, Tenn. to TNA offices earlier today. Bully is on the hunt for TNA President Dixie Carter. Bully guarantees to put Carter throw a table if he sees her today.

We are on tape from Orlando, Fla. Mike Tenay and Taz have the call for this week.

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young makes his way out. Young has called it an amazing ride, but he has his first hiccup in his title reign. Young promised the fans to defend the belt each week, but TNA Director of Wrestling Operations MVP doesn't have him booked for tonight. Young issues an open challenge for tonight and invites out any challenger.

Bobby Roode heads to the ring. Roode tells Young that he has every right to choose the type of champion he wants to be and remarks that Young has chosen to be a fighting champion. Roode tells Young not to look any further because he will take him on tonight. Roode has taken on all challenges TNA has had to offer and calls for the match tonight.

Young says that he isn't the smartest, but remembers that Roode was the number one contender last week and his shoulders were pinned to the mat last week. Roode tells Young that he came close and had a match earlier in the night. Roode tells Young to be a fighting champion and recalls the history between the two. Roode tells how himself and Young broken into wrestling together and signed into TNA together as Team Canada. Roode declares that they are better enemies than friends and they do battle one more time tonight for the belt. Roode will never ask for another shot if Young beats him tonight.

Young agrees that Roode and himself have history and praises Roode as being one of the best in the world. Young agrees to give Roode one last shot at the belt tonight.

Recap of the feud between The Beautiful People and the Knockouts division that will lead to tonight's evening gown match.

Eric Young meets with MVP in his office. Young asks if there is a problem. MVP tells him there is not and that he is impressed with Young's fighting spirit. However, MVP had something special planned for Young tonight and he calls off the match with Roode tonight. Young wants to be a fighting champion and thinks he is the exception. MVP tells Young that he needs to lead by example and tells him to take some time off. MVP offers to make sure Young has an opponent at Slammiversary that he has never faced before. Young begrudgingly agrees as MVP promises to have something for him later.

Evening Gown Match One: The Beautiful People vs. Madison Rayne & Brittany

Madison Rayne starts with Velvet Sky. Sky yanks Rayne to the mat by her hair and lands some strikes. Rayne comes back with clotheslines and a drop toehold on Angelina Love as she tries to sneak attack. Brittany and Rayne attempt to get the evening gowns off as The Beautiful People escape outside.

Love and Brittany now in. Lockup and Love with a handful of hair. Brittany worked into the corner and Sky and Love work the double team. Sky in with shoulder rams in the corner. Sky with a snapmare and running dropkick. Brittany with a back elbow and kick out of the corner. Forearms dropping Sky and a Russian leg sweep connects. Brittany attempts to undress Sky, but Love in and Rayne meets her. The referee ties up Rayne and Love sweeps the leg of Brittany from the outside. Brittany held down and undress. Brittany has been eliminated from the match as we break.

We return with Rayne knocking down both Love and Sky. Love sent out and Rayne with forearms on Sky. Rayne off the ropes and she is swept to the mat by Love. Sky stomping Rayne down and working her in the Beautiful People corner. Love inside with corner work of her own.

Sky returns off a Love back elbow and stomps Rayne. Choke on the second rope from Sky. Rayne fighting back and Love sent out as she has the second rope pulled down on her. Sky runs right into a Spear from Rayne. Rayne undressing Sky and the evening gown comes off. Velvet Sky has been eliminated from the match.

Love drops Rayne from behind. Love stomping Rayne down and punching. The evening gown of Sky being used to choke Rayne. Love goes after the skirt of Rayne, but Rayne fighting back with body shots. Rayne Drop connects and Rayne uses the gown to snapmare Love across the ring. Spear is countered by a kick to the midsection. Rayne elbows out of the tie from Love and lands a Spear.

Velvet Sky returns with a towel on after Love is dropped by a Spear. Sky flashes the referee and Love from behind with hairspray. Love stripes Rayne down and the evening gown is off.

Winners: The Beautiful People

TNA President Dixie Carter shown leaving her office earlier today for a meeting. Rockstar Spud tries to prevent Carter from leaving. Spud is told not to allow Bully in the building as Carter sneaks out.

Magnus and Bram meet in the locker room. Bram informs Magnus that he is now part of TNA and that he booked Magnus against Willow tonight. Bram wants Magnus to return to old form and he promises to be out there for him tonight.

Match Two: Ethan Carter III vs. Kurt Angle

Lockup sees Kurt Angle get the waistlock takedown. Front facelock broken by a rope escape from Ethan Carter III.. Lockup again sees Angle get the arm wrench. EC3 with one of his own and Angle again regains the hold, forcing EC3 to get another rope break. EC3 with a kick to the midsection and he works Angle to the corner. EC3 charges into a boot from Angle and Angle with corner work of his own. Snap suplex gets Angle the first nearfall of the bout.

EC3 tries a clothesline, but Angle ducks under for a trio of German Suplexes. Angle goes down after his left knee buckles. EC3 takes Angle down and drops elbows into the knee. DDT on the leg and EC3 looks for a spinning toehold. Angle kicks him into the corner and comes back with clotheslines. Angle Slam connects.

Action again broken as Angle's knee buckles. The referee checks on Angle to make sure if he is fit to continue. EC3 with a chop block to the leg and he hooks the injured left leg.

Winner by pinfall: Ethan Carter III

Post-match, referees checking on Kurt Angle as we break.

Footage during the break shows Kurt Angle being helped to the back by referees. Angle taken to the trainer's room as he knows that he blew out his knee.

TNA Director of Wrestling Operations MVP makes his way out. MVP thought he knew what he was in for when he took his position in TNA, but it has been more stressful than he imagined. MVP works with passionate fans and passionate wrestlers and tensions run high. MVP had to take the reigns and cancel the match between Eric Young and Bobby Roode tonight, but he has a blockbuster announcement regarding Young's opponent at Slammiversary.

Bobby Roode interrupts and asks if this is a joke. Roode reiterates that he is the number one contender and has a match for the belt with Young tonight. MVP tells Roode that he lost last week and he needs to earn his shot, as there will be no handouts. Roode asks MVP where he was when he became a tag champion and the longest-reigning TNA World Heavyweight Champion in the company. Roode doesn't want to hear about handouts and has some choice names for MVP. MVP calls the conversation over, but Roode yanks him back. Roode says he will say when it's over and MVP warns him to not lay his hands on him again.

Roode backs away and shoves MVP. MVP takes Roode down and the two brawl on the mat as referees and backstage officials have to separate the two.

Bully Ray shown sneaking into TNA offices. Bully talks with the stunned secretary, who offers to leave a message from Bully to Dixie Carter. Bully goes looking for her himself and runs into Rockstar Spud. Spud tells Bully he isn't welcome and he won't allow him in. Bully gives him until three and picks him up across his shoulder before stepping into Carter's office. Spud arguing with Bully the whole way and Bully sends him off to make him some tea. Bully calls a meeting as he takes his place at Carter's desk.

Knux and Rebel shown receiving a crate in the loading area. Rebel asks Knux what it is and Knux replies that it is "their home."

Ladder Match Three for the TNA Tag Team Championships: The Wolves (c) vs. The BroMans (w/DJ Z)

The Wolves chase DJ Z to the back to start, allowing The BroMans to attack from behind at the top of the ramp. The BroMans look to get the ladder and they use it as a battering ram to the midsections of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. Ladder is then dropped on The Wolves.

Match is made official as The BroMans enter the ring and climb the ladder. The Wolves yank the two down, but eat knees to the midsection. Robbie E and Jessie Godderz sent outside. Hangman's neckbreakers connect for The BroMans and they get a ladder. Slide kicks from The Wolves miss as the ladder is raised and they duck a BroMans clothesline with the ladder. Suicide dives are stopped as The BroMans toss the ladder onto the heads of The Wolves.

Back inside, Davey Richards sent out and press slammed on the barricade by Godderz. Edwards laid across the hinge of the ladder and The BroMans sandwich the ladder together with the head of Edwards inside. The BroMans continue to attack outside and set up a ladder on the apron and the steel steps. Suplex attempt is caught by Edwards, who pulls his partner to the other side of the ladder. Ladder kicked into the chests of The BroMans.

The Wolves inside and they set the ladder up in the middle. The BroMans soon join them with a ladder right next to them. Edwards chops Robbie E down and falls with him. Richards headbutting Godderz down and both fall as well. Edwards up the ladder, but Godderz dropkicks him off. Press slam attempt from Godderz is countered and Edwards with a suplex that sends both of them down to the floor.

Robbie E laid across the ladder on the outside by Richards. Richards up top and he connects on the double foot stomp on the ladder. The Wolves make their way back inside and climb up one side. DJ Z returns and climbs the other side. DJ Z suplexed from the top of the ladders to the floor on top of his partners as The Wolves reach the belts.

Knux and Rebel are shown in the loading area. Knux allows Crazzy Steve and The Freak to break out of their crate as they plan to debut after the break.

Rockstar Spud seen delivering tea to Bully Ray in Dixie Carter's office. Bully is nowhere to be found and Spud calls the secretary to find out that everyone is in a meeting.

Match Four: Kazarian vs. Knux (w/The Menagerie)

Knux instructing Crazzy Steve out and Kazarian attacks from behind. Corner work from Kaz. Knux sends Kaz into the corner with velocity and Kaz tumbles out. Hangman's neckbreaker connects for Kaz as Knux attempts to bring him back in. Missile dropkick lands from the top and Kaz with froearms in the corner. Knux being choked on the second rope.

Kaz jumps outside to land a kick. Crazzy Steve gets in the face of Kaz and The Freak soon walks Kaz down. Hip toss back inside by Knux. Clothesline and a big boot land and are followed by a backdrop by Knux. Kaz fights back, only to be taken out by a crossbody from Knux. Backdrop suplex is flipped out of by Kaz. Kaz runs right into a sitout spinebuster.

Winner by pinfall: Knux

Rockstar Spud walks in on the staff sitting at a table, all adorned in "Bully Fears Dixie" shirts. Spud talks bad about Bully until Bully stands behind him and tells him to bring back two cases of beer. Bully wants to hear the new company motto and the staff echoes the slogans on their shirts. Bully has something to change that around and they have work to do.

Mr. Anderson with Gunner backstage. Anderson jokes with Gunner and says he didn't know Gunner and "Cowboy" James Storm were working together again. Gunner tells Anderson that he knows that he doesn't like to win like that and the two exchange handshakes as Anderson prepares for his match next week against Storm.

Rockstar Spud returns to the meeting room to find Bully Ray having turned the meeting into a party. Spud jumps up on the table and orders everyone back to work. Bully tells Spud they are trying to run a meeting and asks the staff if they want him to leave, to which they respond negatively. Spud wants Bully to go and Bully tells Spud that he will leave if he tells him where Dixie Carter is. Bully tells Spud to have a beer with him and he'll leave. The two toast and Spud is picked up and powerbombed through the table. Bully gets the phone of Spud and finds out the location of Carter's home.

Willow sitting in the staircase. Willow recaps the feud between Jeff Hardy and Magnus that culminated in the Dixieland match. Willow recalls the start of the reign of Magnus as TNA World Heavyweight Champion and he has an umbrella now to keep out of the reign of Magnus.

Match Five: Magnus (w/Bram) vs. Willow

Willow taken out with a clothesline as he runs outside. Magnus brawls him around ringside.

Match made official inside and Magnus stomps Willow down. Bodydrop countered by Willow, only to be taken out by a catch-up clothesline. Stomps and elbow drops get Magnus a brief nearfall. Rear chinlock in for Magnus. Elbows to the body get Willow out. Float over in the corner gets Willow a headscissors takeover. Right hands landing and Willow with forearms and an inverted atomic drop. Leg drop to the groin followed by a step-over heel kick.

Magnus moves outside after Willow tries a corner dropkick. Slide kick puts Magnus down and a sliding splash to the floor by Willow connects. Magnus sent inside and Bram tosses Willow into the steel steps.

Winner by disqualification: Willow

Bram drops Willow on his head after stomping Willow down post-match. Bram handcuffs Willow to the bottom rope and retrieves a turnbuckle holder. Bram slams it into the ribcage of Willow as Magnus walks off.

MVP tells Eric Young to join him out in the ring in a few minutes to hear his Slammiversary opponent.

Kurt Angle told by the doctor that his knee has no stability. The doctor diagnoses Angle with a torn ACL and declares that Angle will need to have surgery once again.

MVP in the ring and he promises to not let a confrontation with Bobby Roode get in the way of the promise he made to Eric Young. Young is asked to bring the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and join him in the ring.

Young makes his way out with the belt. MVP declares how proud he is of Young and his title reign. MVP tells Young he is inspired by him and commends him on his leadership. MVP knows Young made it clear that he wants the toughest competition to prove himself as a fighting champion. MVP invites the challenger out.

No music plays and MVP tells Young that he will break it to him another way. Right hand from MVP drops Young and MVP using the chain to land punches on Young. MVP tells Young he will see him at Slammiversary as the show closes.
