Smackdown!: Dean Ambrose defends the US Title heading into Extreme Rules
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

With Extreme Rules this Sunday, tonight is the go home show for Smackdown! Don't expect any big twists, but Dean Ambrose will actually defend his United States Title. As always, Michael Cole and JBL call the action, tonight from Kansas City, Missouri.

Bray Wyatt kicks off the show, but there isn't a creepy children's choir signing like on Monday.

Match #1 - The Wyatt Family vs. The Usos and Sheamus

Sheamus is in this match after The Wyatts destroyed him at Main Event. Jimmy Usos fights off the entire Family by himself, but misses a corkscrew moonsault allowing Harper to get the upper hand. Bray makes a blind tag, allowing him to sneak up on Jimmy to hit the Sister Abigail and get the pin.

Winner via pinfall: The Wyatt Family

After the bell, Jey Uso flies over the top rope to take out Harper. Sheamus runs in, but the numbers over take them. Jimmy then eats a clothesline from Harper in the ring.

So this is happening. Vicki Guerrero is mediating a contract signing between Hornswoggle and El Torito for their Wee-LC match on the Extreme Rules pre-show. This segment can't end fast enough. In a what has to be a contract signing first, Hornswoggle and El Torito go face to face on the table and El Torito gores the little guy out of the ring. The bull takes to the air and takes out all of 3MB on the outside.

Match #2 RVD vs. Jack Swagger w/ Zeb Colter

Paul Heyman and Cesaro joins the announce team, since Cesaro is taking on both of these men at Extreme Rules. Swagger takes a cheap shot at Cesaro, but maybe he should have been paying attention in the ring. RVD kicks Swagger and connects with a 5 Star Frog Splash to get the win.

Winners via pinfall: RVD

After the bell, Cesaro hits the ring and plants RVD with a neutralizer.

Match #3 - Alexander Rusev w/ Lana vs. R-Truth w. Xavier Woods

Rusev will be taking on both Truth and Woods on Sunday. Truth knocks Rusev down with a heel kick, and he rolls to the floor. Woods talks some smack and gets hit the mouth for it. Woods chases Rusev back into the ring, jumping on his back and getting his partner disqualified. Woods flies over the top rope to take out Rusev, ignoring the bell. Truth and Woods keep Rusev at bay.

Winner via DQ: Alexander Rusev

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan hits the ring, sporting a neck brace thanks to Kane. Bryan tells the crowd he is no different than anyone else when he stands up for what he believes in. Bryan says he will walk out the Champion on Sunday, but there is more at stake. Kane put his hands on Bryan's wife and now this match has turned into a war. Bryan promises to send Kane back to Hell. Kane shows up on the Titantron, who looks forward to going back home.

Match #4 - Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow

It's nice to see that Sandow is getting his money worth out of that Magneto costume, even keeping the cape on. Ziggler nearly steals the match with a roll up. Sandow drops the Elbow of Disdain, but doesn't cover right away. Ziggler fights back, ignores Sandow's "super powers" and connects with a drop kick. Ziggler follows with a Zig Zag and covers to get the win.

Winner via pinfall: Dolph Ziggler

Match #5 Big E vs. Titus O'Neal

Titus rolls to the floor, baiting Big E. He tosses E over the announce table and back into the ring. Titus steps on E's throat, and doesn't heed to the five count from the ref, getting himself disqualified.

Winner via DQ: Big E

After the match, Big E shows his mean streak, destroying Titus. Big E smashes him into the announce table and security barrier, before tossing him back into the ring and standing tall over him.

Bray is back with another creepy promo.

Match #6 Dean Ambrose (Champion) vs. Ryback vs. Curtis Axel vs. Alberto Del Rio - Fatal Four-way United States Title Match

The bells rings and Ambrose has to fight out of his corner. The numbers over take the champ, who has no help with Rollins and Reigns banned from ringside. ADR sends Ambrose to the floor, as Axel rolls him up. Axel sends Del Rio to floor and turns to his partner, Ryback. Ambrose with a shot from behind, but once again Ambrose can't fight 3 on 1 and is sent to the floor. We go to break.

After the commercials, Ryback and Axel are beating on ADR in the corner. Del Rio fights out and gets a pin on Ryback, but Ambrose is able to break it up. Axel knees ADR in the face. Ambrose lays into Axel, only to get decked by Ryback. Rybaxel slams Ambrose into the security barrier. Del Rio then kicks Ryback in the face. Axel is taken out with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker and ADR follows with a German suplex to Ryback. Ambrose breaks up the pin and unloads with a fury of punches on Del Rio. Ambrose sends Ryback over the top rope and drop kicks Del Rio. Axel stops the rally, but can't hit the Perfectplex. Ambrose delivers a clothesline but can't get the pin as Axel kicks out. Del Rio catches Ryback with an enziguri on the apron, but then walks into a Perfectplex. ADR kicks out. Del Rio drives Axel into the mat, but still can't get the pin. Axel ducks a kick from Del Rio, but Del Rio avoids a clothesline from Ryback, who catches his own partner. Del Rio locks in the cross arm breaker on Ryback, who breaks the hold by picking up ADR adn dropping him with the Shell Shock. Axel pulls Ryback off Del Rio, but gets caught by Ambrose, who rolls him up. Axel can't kick out and Ambrose gets the three count.

Winners via pinfall and still United States Champion: Dean Ambrose

Ambrose is immediately jumped by his opponents, but Rollin and Reigns run in the make the save. Axel is tossed the floor and Ryback eats a spear from Reigns. Rollins flies through the ropes to take out Axel and Reigns catches him with a Superman Punch. Axel is in for a world of hurt, tasting the Triple Powerbomb. The Shield stands tall in the ring as the show ends.
