Smackdown!: The Authority keeps Daniel Bryan down
DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling
The YES! movement continues in Colorado Spring on Smackdown!, as Daniel Bryan heads into Elimination Chamber on Sunday. Even though Bryan and the movement were featured in a national newspaper this week, don't expect him to win on Sunday. The Authority will see to that.
Match #1 - Daniel Bryan vs. Jack Swagger w/ Cesaro and Zeb Colter
Bryan is sporting a bandage shoulder to sell the beating he took on RAW. Bryan applies a head lock after a drop toe hold. Swagger breaks free and whiffs on a clothesline. Bryan connects with one and follows with a running drop kick. Swagger rolls out to catch his breath. Bryan dives through the ropes, but Swagger catches him, slamming him into the ring post. Swagger keeps the brutality up, throwing Bryan into the opposite ring post. Back in the ring, Swagger continues to work on the bandage shoulder. The crowd gets behind Bryan as the beating continues. Bryan slips out of the corner and is able to catch Swagger with the kamikaze knee. Bryan covers and gets the win.
Winners via pinfall: Daniel Bryan
After the match, Vicki Guerrero walks out on stage with Kane and congratulates him on his win. She then rewards him with another match, tonight, against Cesaro, starting now. Well, after the commercials.
Match #2 – Daniel Bryan vs. Cesaro w/ Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter
We join the match in progress and Cesaro is working over Bryan's injured shoulder. Cesaro uses various holds to keep pressure on the shoulder. Bryan uses a low bridge, spilling Cesaro to the floor and takes him out with a suicide dive. Colter provides a distraction, allowing Cesaro to kick Bryan off the apron. Swagger grabs a chair, but the ref catches him and orders him and Colter to the back. And then we are orders to watch some commercials.
After the break, Kane has joined the crew at ringside. Also, during the break, Swagger and Big E got into backstage and had to be separated. Back in the ring, Bryan hits a missile drop kick. Cesaro blocks a kick and takes Bryan for a Big Swing. Bryan rolls out of the ring. Cesaro rolls him back in, but nearly gets rolled up by Bryan. Cesaro kicks out, picks him up and connects with the uppercut. Bryan gets to his feet and Cesaro works him over in the corner. Cesaro is backed off by the ref, and Bryan is able to deliver the knee to the face. Kane jumps in, choke slamming Bryan and getting Cesaro disqualified.
Winner via DQ: Daniel Bryan
Kane grabs a microphone, announcing Bryan as the winner by disqualification. Cesaro then delivers a Neutralizer, to add insult to injury. Cole sells the fact that Bryan will not be 100% heading into the Chamber.
Renee Young is backstage with Christian, who is looking a little heelish. Young asks him about his new attitude. Christian says he's desperate for one more match, and Sheamus is going to find out how much, tonight. Christian vows to become WWE Heavyweight champion, even if it's the last thing he does.
Don't forget that the WWE Network goes live on Monday. I'll be covering the launch with a live blog here on SLAM! Wrestling.
Match #3 - The Wyatt Family vs. Cody Rhodes, Goldust and Rey Mysterio
Bray cuts a promo on The Shield before the match. The family then goes on to win, with Brey delivering a Sister Abigail to Goldust.
Winner via pinfall: The Wyatt Family
Backstage, Sheamus says when he Brogue kicks Christian, tonight, it won't be an accident.
Match #4 – Emma w/ Santino vs. Summer Rae w/ Fandango - Dance off
Renee Young hosts this train wreck. Of course, Summer has the better moves, but the crowd is behind Emma, who is given the win. Emma tosses Summer out of the ring, so Fandango goes after Santino. Fandango tries to put the moves on Emma, but she and Santino team up to give him an old fashioned school boy.
Match #5 – Dolph Ziggler vs. Titus O'Neal
Darren Young joins Cole and JBL at the announce table. Titus seems more interested in Young, then dealing with Ziggler. Young distracts O'Neal with a whistle and standing on the announce table. Ziggler is able to roll him up and steal the match.
Winner via pinfall: Dolph Ziggler
Match #6 – Road Dogg w/ Billy Gunn vs. Jimmy Uso w/ Jey Uso
Road Dogg kicks Jimmy to the mat and applies a chin lock. Jimmy breaks the hold and Road Dogg runs himself into a Samoan Drop. Jimmy catches Dogg with a reverse heel kick and covers to get the win.
Winners via pinfall: Jimmy Uso
Match #7 – Sheamus vs. Christian
A shoulder block sends Christian to the mat. A low bridge sends Sheamus to the floor, but Christian cannot connect on the baseball slide. Sheamus picks him up and hits a rolling fireman's carry slam on the floor. We go to our last commercial.
After the break, Christian breaks out of a head lock in the ring. Sheamus blocks a right hand on the apron, but can't deliver the chops. Christian drops to the floor and Sheamus follows, driving him into the security barrier. Sheamus charges, but Christian drops him into the time keeper's area. Christian strips the padding off the barrier, and slams Sheamus into the exposed steel. Back in the ring, Christian stomps away at the injured shoulder. Christian climbs the turnbuckle, but get caught. Sheamus sends him crashing to the mat. Christian kicks out of a power slam and delivers a tornado DDT out of the corner. Sheamus catches Christian on the apron, delivering chops to the chest. Christian recovers, sending Sheamus shoulder first into the ring post. Christian looks for another DDT, but Sheamus counters with the Irish Curse back breaker. Christian slips from the ring and then hits a back elbow off the top tope. Christian goes for the Kill Switch, but Sheamus counters into White Noise to get the pin.
Winners via pinfall: Sheamus
The show ends with only Sheamus in the ring.
