Wrestlers and colleagues recall Nelson Frazier

In this social media world, reaction to the passing of a friend and colleague is quick and heartfelt. Here are some of the things being written about the death of Nelson Frazier Jr.

Mike Bucci, a.k.a. Nova and Simon Dean, on Facebook
Just got up to text messages and calls from the boys last night with the news of Nelson's passing. Big Vis was awesome. A true pro and friend inside the ring and out of it. I loved the guy. RIP my friend.

Greg Price, North Carolina promoter, on Facebook
I first met Nelson Frazier in the summer of 1991. Manny Fernandez had just taken over at South Atlantic Pro Wrestling, and had put Nelson with a new tag team called the German Stormtroopers (Ed Brock and Charles G Smith.) I believe he was referred to as simply "The Wall" on those first TV shows that Manny produced. Nelson and Bobby Horne were together then. Brothers. Like most young guys paying their dues, chasing their dreams, they put up with a lot of crap. They setup and tore down rings, whatever it took. Drive long hours to crappy shows for little or no pay. Like most young guys trying to make it, they felt they were ignored, taken advantage of. But they never gave up, never let the discouragement get the better of them. They persevered, and made it. You could say they achieved about every thing they could as a team. I've always been proud of those guys, always considered them friends. I'd just arrived back in Charlotte tonight, driving from the airport, when I got a call from another friend, RVD, telling me of Nelson's passing. Rob was a part of the same SAPW group that started those first few TVs with Manny back in August of 1991. I told him no, it can't be. It had to be just another internet rumor. He told me of a few folks' posts and how he'd read about it and even tweeted it himself. Please, no, it's just another sick, sordid rumor that's being spread. I urged him to go to Bobby's Facebook page to check. If it were true, Bobby would know. He did, and it confirmed our fears. It was true. This one's tough. Forgive me for rambling. It just seems so surreal. I'm praying tonight for Bobby, and for Nelson's family and friends. I'll miss you, Nelson. Godspeed!

Just heard that Nelson Frasier AKA Mabel, Viscera and Big Daddy V has died. I had a couple of memorable matches with him in the USWA in Memphis. Very agile for a big man, but I was most impress of His gentle soul! RIP my friend

So sad to hear of the passing of my longtime friend Nelson Frazier. I've worked with him since the 90s. We traveled the globe and entertained many people. This one hits hard. You'll always be royalty to me; so long King. Thanks to Eric for the conversation and confirming this information.

If what I'm hearing about viscera is true then I'm f---ing heartbroken. I knew him better away from WWE than I ever did there. We had a mutual friend that passed called Stevie Lee. He brought us together as friends and I had a huge place in my heart for him. This is so sad! My heart goes out to his wife and to all his friends and extended family. He was loved by everyone!

Glenn Ruth of the Headbangers, on Facebook

Such sad news about Nelson Fraizer. Just went back and forth with him on his birthday on Facebook four days ago. You were always one of my favorites to hang and travel with. This hurts my heart. Rest easy my friend, I love you.......

Wavell Starr, Western Canadian wrestler, on Facebook
RIP Big Daddy V!!! Sh-- just last year he was riding with me in my truck from show to show in Alberta sharing stories with me. Seat belts weren't made for him so my truck kept ringing for like an hour before it stopped. We stopped at a gas station in a small town in Alberta whose name eludes me and people gawked at him like he was a circus freak it was awesome.

Sal Corrente, referee and promoter, on Facebook
Very sad to hear last night about the passing of Nelson Frazier. I remember the first time I met him and Sir Mo. It was on an Indy Show in Charlotte for Carolina Championship-Wrestling. At the time David E. Isley and I and Colt Steel had all the heat. They asked if I wanted to manage them ,for some stupid reason I said no. I was thinking way to narrow at the time for several reasons I should have said Yes but I didn't. I have few regrets about the business even when things didn't work out the way that I wanted them to but I will always regret not seeing what I could have done with those guys. I am glad to have run in to him at a couple of WWE events and reconnecting with him here on FB. Another loss of a great guy far to soon. R.I.P Big Daddy V a guy from the Indy Carolina Days
