Kaitlyn leaves WWE

WWE announced on its website today that former Divas champion Kaitlyn has left the company.

"As of Jan. 8, Kaitlyn (Celeste Bonin) will no longer be under contract with WWE. The former Divas Champion has chosen to pursue other endeavors outside the sports-entertainment world," reads the announcement on WWE.com. "WWE wishes Kaitlyn the best in all her future endeavors."

On her Twitter account, KaitlynWWE, she commented on the departure: "Today is bittersweet. I've officially left @WWE on my own terms. Much love to WWE and all of you guys."

"There's big things on the horizon for 2014. I'll keep you all updated…and i'll also be posting an abnormal amount of cat pictures."

She was a competitive soccer player, but elected not to play in college. Instead, she competed in fitness and bodybuilding competitions until joining the WWE.

"I've been an athlete my whole life; I ran track, I played soccer and I was always super fit, but this was a whole other beast," she told Go! Magazine in March 2013. "There’s so much that goes into it. Anyone can do the moves, but it’s so much more than that. You have to think about who you are as a fighter, what’s your identity, what way are you going to wrestle, what way are you going to show people what you’re all about."
