Mae Young - erroneous reports
By GREG OLIVER - Producer, SLAM! Wrestling

Miss May Young

Women's wrestling legend Mae Young is facing her toughest battle yet, but is not done. Reports circulated across the Internet Wednesday night and Thursday morning about her illness and supposed death. Those reports, including this one, were in error.

Reports of her passing were premature. She was hospitalized recently, and faces numerous health challenges -- not unexpected, given that she turns 90 in March.

She is at home in Columbia, South Carolina, where she lives with former midget wrestler Diamond Lil (Katie Glass).

SLAM! Wrestling takes full responsibility for the error and apologizes for any premature grief that may have been caused.

Greg Oliver met Mae Young many times, and she was always so sweet. One of the highlights of the Titans in Toronto dinners, which were fundraisers for the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, was having Mae Young and the Fabulous Moolah make a grand entrance.
