Main Event: Axel and Ziggler fight as TLC looms

WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, & Chairs is only a few short days away. Per usual, many WWE superstars are looking to build momentum and get ready for the show. Tonight on WWE Main Event, Dolph Ziggler clashes with Curtis Axel ahead of his TLC pre-show bout with Fandango. Plus, Natalya prepares for her WWE Divas Championship shot! All that and more on this week's edition of WWE Main Event!

We are on tape from Portland, Ore. Josh Mathews and The Miz have the call for this week.

Match One: Dolph Ziggler vs. Curtis Axel (w/Ryback)

Lockup leads to a stalemate between the two men. Another lockup sees Dolph Ziggler and Curtis Axel exchange arm wrenches and hammerlocks. Ziggler now gets the side headlock. Axel turns out into one of his own. Shoulder bump from Axel connects and he drops Ziggler with a dropkick. Reset sees Axel once again getting the side headlock. Axel off the ropes again and he is hit with a hip toss from Ziggler. Drop toehold into a front facelock for Ziggler lead to a neckbreaker. Ten elbow drops to the chest of Axel get a nearfall.

Axel fights up once he returns to his feet and strikes Ziggler down to the mat. Bodydrop attempt from Axel is blocked by a kick from Ziggler. Running clothesline for Ziggler connects. Axel attempts a clothesline, but Ziggler ducks him and plants him with a dropkick. A cornered Axel ducks a Ziggler splash and Ziggler topples out to the floor as we break.

We return with Axel working a crossface on Ziggler. Ziggler fights up to his feet and gets out with a body shot. A running Ziggler is caught and put down on a backbreaker by Axel for a brief nearfall. Axel now toying with Ziggler a bit. Scoop slam followed up by an elbow drop from the second rope for another Axel nearfall.

Ziggler fighting back with body blows and strikes to the head, but he runs into a knee to the stomach from Axel for a quick nearfall. Crossfacing the wrist over the face of Ziggler, Axel transitions into a crossface hold of his own once again. Ziggler out with a jawbreaker. Reverse T-bone suplex from Ziggler connects and both men down. Action returns to the feet and Ziggler with a corner splash and a barrage of punches. Neckbreaker by Ziggler gets a close nearfall.

An attempted whip by Ziggler is countered by Axel to get a clothesline to the back of the head for a nearfall. Axel now in control with strikes. Ziggler is picked up by Axel and he floats through on an attack to get the sleeper. Fading fast, Axel runs Ziggler back into the corner. Axel charges and lands on his shoulder on the ring post. Famouser connects for Ziggler for a close nearfall.

Up top, Ziggler is crotched by Axel. The position is used by Axel to land a Perfect-Plex for a bridging nearfall. Axel attempting more offense, but Ziggler with a DDT counter to get a nearfall. Ryback jumps to the apron and Ziggler chases him off with a forearm. Axel from behind with the hangman's facebuster.

Winner by pinfall: Curtis Axel

Match Two: Natalya vs. Alicia Fox

Lockup sees Alicia Fox take the back of Natalya. Both ladies exchanging arm wrenches and counters. Ankle pick takedown from Natalya grabs her a leglock. Fox counters with legscissors, Natalya gets a nearfall and snaps a side headlock takeover. Fox fighting out and both ladies exchanging offense. Headscissors takeover from Fox leads to a nearfall that is soon matched by one for Natalya.

Natalya takes the back of Fox and Fox is forced to work for a rope break. Fox bumps Natalya off, but Natalya springs back into a kick from Fox that puts her down for a nearfall.

Legscissors by Fox. Natalya fighting up to her feet, but she is yanked back down to the mat by Fox. Northern Lights suplex by Fox connects for a bridging nearfall. Legscissors again in for Fox, but Natalya fights up and gets a tilt-a-whirl crossbody for a nearfall.

Push kick puts Natalya down in the corner. Fox stomping away. Natalya fights up to her feet and Fox misses a corner splash. Clotheslines and resurgent offense from Natalya. Sitout scoop slam followed up by a spinning lariat gets a brief nearfall. Fox with a kick counter from her back and she moves into the corner. Natalya runs into the ring post and Fox with a rollup, but Natalya locks in the Sharpshooter.

Winner by submission: Natalya

Match Three: R-Truth & Xavier Woods vs. Tons of Funk (w/The Funkadactyls)

Xavier Woods starts off with Brodus Clay, who immediately tags out to Tensai. Woods with punches, but Tensai using his strength to keep the smaller man away. Woods fighting back with more strikes and he knocks Tensai down with a dropkick. Woods sent out to the apron, where he kicks Clay away and hits Tensai with a shoulder blow to the stomach. Flip inside only sees him laid about by a Tensai shoulder block.

Brodus Clay inside and he pummels Woods down in his corner. Woods in the tree of woe and Clay smashes him into the corner before standing on his torso. Body shot drops Woods and Clay continues the beating. Elbow drop puts Woods down for a nearfall. Clay continuing the body work and he puts Woods down with a scoop slam. Taunting R-Truth, Clay is caught by body blows from Woods. Knee to the head of Woods stops the offense and Clay continuing to trash Woods around. Scoop slam attempt by Clay is countered by a Woods enzuigiri.

R-Truth tags in and knocks Clay off his feet with a missile dropkick. Truth with right hands and a dropkick to the knee. Scissor kick connects for Truth for a brief nearfall. Clay moves outside to regroup with Tensai. Truth with a crossbody that is caught by the bigger men, but Woods with a flip dive over the top that puts both men down as we break.

Clay cubbing on Truth as we return. Truth fighting back and works Clay over in the corner before attempting a tornado DDT. Truth pushed off and Clay with a pair of leg drops. Tensai in with a double underhook suplex for a nearfall. Grinding offense keeping Truth on the mat. Truth with body blows to break the hold and right hands to the head. Tensai sends Truth into the corner, but Truth with a European Uppercut. Chop to the throat and an elbow drop for Tensai connect for a nearfall.

Clay in with a splash in the corner for a quick nearfall. Clay using his power to keep Truth grounded. Leg drop across the torso of Truth gets another nearfall. Nervehold once again applied by Clay. Truth fighting back, but shot into the corner hard. Clay with a sitdown splash on the chest of Truth for a nearfall.

Body blows once again get Truth out. Clay shoves him away, but Truth comes with a heel kick. Woods in and a dropkick followed up by a DDT for a nearfall. Forearm to Tensai followed by an Honor Roll on Clay for a nearfall. Tensai sent down to the floor and Woods striking Clay. Clay goes for a powerbomb, but Woods with right hands. Woods off the ropes and Truth with the sneak tag.. Sheee-Plex connects for Clay, but Truth with a jackknife cover.

Winners by pinfall: R-Truth & Xavier Woods

Post-match, Truth shoved down by Clay. Clay with a powerslam on Truth. Tensai getting face-to-face with Clay about the sudden change in attitude and a brief shoving exchange closes the show.
