TNA Impact: Sabin, Hardy kick off tourney in Full Metal Mayhem

The TNA World Heavyweight Championship is up for grabs after the sudden departure of AJ Styles. A tournament of the best TNA has to offer has been assembled to find a new kingpin of the company. Tonight on TNA Impact, Jeff Hardy and TNA X Division Champion Chris Sabin clash to kick off the tournament in a Full Metal Mayhem match. Plus, what is to come of the Main Event Mafia? All that and more on this week's edition of TNA Impact!

TNA President Dixie Carter is escorting NFL star Adam "Pacman" Jones around backstage. Mr. Anderson meets the ground and requests Carter to put him in a match tonight. Carter says she has a match with him as long as he brings it to him, which Anderson assures her she will do.

Recap of all the latest events in TNA.

We are LIVE from Cincinnati, Ohio. Mike Tenay and Taz have the call for this week.

Main Event Mafia make their way out to the ring. Sting says that Main Event Mafia have done their jobs since the reformation, but it hasn't been without trials along the way. Effective tonight, the group is back on the shelf to deal with their own battles. Sting discusses how Magnus has been seizing the moment, along with Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. Sting says that his path is now to take out those with unnecessary entitlement in this business and he says goodbye to each member of the group.

Samoa Joe says it has been a pleasure to have the backs of each man in the Main Event Mafia, but a title reign has been away from him for too long and he believes that road runs through Magnus and Kurt Angle. Joe believes they will be great friends, but they make for better enemies.

Magnus appreciates Angle's path on the road to redemption, but his road to destiny goes through the same path. Magnus says he will take Angle down if he has to in his route to the TNA World Heavyweight Campionship.

Angle believes that it has been an honor, but agrees each have their own paths to travel to reach their goals. Angle wants to prove to be Hall of Fame caliber and, despite setbacks against Bobby Roode due to medical conditions, he has great news on his health.

Bobby Roode cuts Angle off. Roode is embarrassed for Angle having to make excuses for losing to him twice. Roode wants to move on and promises to beat Angle a third time should he encounter him in the TNA World Heavyweight Championship tournament. Angle promises he will take him out should he face him, but he doesn't want to wait. The two begin to brawl until officials are forced to break them up as we break.

We return and Kurt Angle is sitting in the middle of the ring in a chair. Angle says he will wait all night for Bobby Roode to return to the ring. Roode makes his way down and Angle meets him at the middle of the ramp. The two men going at it at ringside. Officials return to separate the two men, but Angle escapes from being pushed up the ramp. The men continuing to go at it. Bad Influence enters to subdue Roode and order is finally restored.

Mike Tenay and Taz review and preview the rest of tonight's show.

Bad Influence at ringside and heckling the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals players Adam "Pacman" Jones and DeQuin Evans. The two football players hop the guardrail and enter the ring, eventually slamming both members of Bad Influence. The two stand victoriously as Bad Influence scurries.

Knux and Garrett Bischoff walking around backstage. The two say the club's condition is not anyone's business but the members. Mr. Anderson meets the two and tells them his match with Bully Ray has nothing to do with the club and he thanks the two for stripping them of his colors, encouraging them to get out.

Number One Contender Match: Velvet Sky vs. Brooke vs. ODB

The ladies start showing off some moves and ODB decides to just take it to them with her chest. Double bronco buster in the corner after sending the ladies crashing into each other. Nearfall for ODB. Brooke now in control as she sends the ladies into each other, taking ODB outside of the ring. Forearm after forearm for Broke. Sky off the ropes with clotheslines, an elbow, and a kick. Neckbreaker nearfall for Sky broken by ODB.

Running powerslam from ODB connects on Sky. Brooke sneaks up to kick her in the stomach and land a spinning neckbreaker. Brooke heads up top and hits an elbow drop on ODB.

TNA Knockouts Champion Gail Kim and Lei'D Tapa make their way down the ramp as we head to break.

All three ladies exchanging strikes in the center of the ring. ODB drops Brooke and Sky down before locking in the single-leg crab on Brooke. Sky joins to lock in the other leg. Both relinquish the hold and have it out with hard strikes. Shoulder block knocks down Sky and ODB scoop slams Sky on top of Brooke before moving outside to confront Lei'D Tapa and Gail Kim. Brooke baseball slide from behind on ODB, but she is taken out by a clothesline from Sky. Back inside, Sky with a nearfall on both ladies.

Clothesline from Brooke knocks Sky down and she moves up top. Double crossbody from Brooke. Gail Kim and Tapa up on the apron now. Brooke attempts to attack Sky for the distraction, but Sky with a shoulder block and In Yo' Face coming up, but Gail Kim from behind with Eat Defeat. ODB tosses Gail Kim outside as Tapa lays out Brooke. Both are face to face and ODB with punch after punch, but Tapa with a neckbreaker for her as well. Gail Kim says there is no one left for her and she opens a challenge to any female outside of the company to earn a title shot.

Aces & Eights backstage. Bully Ray says he knows everything that goes on with the club and knows about their talk with Anderson. Bully brought this club together for all of them, but Garrett Bischoff doesn't believe there was been a group mentality for quite a while. Knux says they will be voting next, along with Taz. Bully tells Bischoff to vote the right way.

Dixie Carter on the phone, discussing the loss of local affiliates and advertisers, allegedly at the hands of TNA World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles. Ethan Carter III comes in to discuss his match tonight, as his aunt has picked out two opponents for him to choose from. Dixie informs EC3 to pick the right one and continue his winning streak.

Knux and Garrett Bischoff in the ring. They want to have a club vote to decide the future of the club. Taz is asked to come in the ring and Bully Ray is soon summoned himself. Bully asks if everyone knows who he is. Bischoff says he is the poison who tore the club apart and they are ready to vote.

Mr. Anderson makes his way out. Anderson says he is just out here to watch the club implode. Bischoff votes that he is finished. Bully believes he can always count on Knux. Knux says he doesn't need anything in this club and hangs up his colors as well. Bully says that they will be tied and it will be swayed in his favor because he is the president. Bully says Taz knows to listen to the president. Taz says he is done of being part of Bully's agenda. Bully tells Taz to put his colors back on and Taz tells him to make him. Bully blames all of this on Anderson, who challenges him to a no disqualification matchup at Turning Point. Bully says that Anderson respected "Stone Cold" Steve Austin so much, but he forgot his first rule.

Bischoff and Knux from behind. They send him into the steel steps. Knux with a big boot that knocks him down. Bully tells him to not trust anyone while he whips him with his chain.

Bobby Roode runs out and halts the broadcast to call for Kurt Angle, saying it isn't over as he goes berserk at ringside.

Match Two: Ethan Carter III vs. Dewey Barnes

Lockup and Ethan Carter III hits a knee and works Dewey Barnes into the corner. EC3 sends Barnes into the corner and hits a clothesline. Gigantic slam plants Barnes into the mat. Punt to the ribs of Barnes and another. Barnes has had enough and hits a dropkick and a swinging neckbreaker. Up top, Barnes misses a missile dropkick as Carter easily sidesteps. One Percenter headlock driver connects.

Winner by pinfall: Ethan Carter III

Joseph Park enjoying Halloween candy.backstage. Bad Influence walk in and start picking on Park, pondering how strange it is that Abyss is nowhere to be seen and Park mysteriously reappeared. The two pour candy on top of him and Eric Young comes in to challenge Bad Influence to a match.

Match Three: Bad Influence vs. Joseph Park & Eric Young

Eric Young starts off with Christopher Daniels. Kazarian illegally steps in and attacks Young from behind and Daniels knocks Park off the apron. Bad Influence double teaming Young, but he sends them into one another. Dropkick for Daniels and a spinning lariat for Kaz from Young.

Joseph Park in and they knock Kazarian down. Scoop slam by Park and he brings Young back in, who hits a headscissors takeover that sends Kazarian out. suicide dive from Young takes out Kazarian. Back inside, a crossbody from the top gets Young a nearfall.

Young Flair flips to the apron, but Daniels knocks him down and follows up before sending him back inside to Kaz. Daniels now tags in and a double-team series of strikes gets a quick nearfall. Bad Influence now isolating Young in their corner of the ring with grounding tactics. Daniels tries a Saito Suplex, but Young flips out for one of his own. Both men down. Young looking for the tag and gets it, but Kazarian ties up the referee. Bad Influence double-teaming Young, but he ducks a Kaz clothesline that ends up taking out Daniels. Kaz now down and Young looking for the tag.

Park in like a house of fire. Scoop slams for both men. Splashes in the corner for both members of Bad Influence. Kaz tries a missile dropkick, but misses and Park applies a Boston Crab. Daniels clotheslines him from behind. Young takes him to the outside, but Daniels tosses him into the steel steps to take him out. Daniels with the bell ringer's hammer. The referee goes to take that away and Daniels grabs the appletini to splash it in Park's face. Crucifix roll by Kaz.

Winners by pinfall: Bad Influence

Sabin and Hardy ready to go next.

Kurt Angle makes his way out and says he is prepared for Bobby Roode right now. Austin Aries steps out and says his mind should be focused on him next week. Aries says that Angle better bring laser focus or he will lose next week.

Dixie Carter on the big screen with the Wheel of Dixie. Submission match will be the stipulation for next week. Bobby Roode jets out and takes Angle down and out against the steel steps. Aries side-swiped by Roode and he lashes out at Roode. Angle tosses him away to get a piece of Roode, but Aries comes back to attack Angle as officials clear the wreckage.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament: Full Metal Mayhem Match Four: Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Sabin

Chris Sabin offers his hand and tries a sneak attack, but Jeff Hardy catches the kick to land a few strikes. Sabin pulls him down into the turnbuckle and stomps him down. Hardy sent into the corner, but he floats over into a headscissors takeover.

Baseball slide outside knocks Sabin down. Flying clothesline from the apron by Hardy connects. Hardy looking for weaponry while he stomps Sabin down and he brings a ladder into the ring. Sabin meets him inside to ram him into the corner, using the ladder as a battering ram. Sabin drapes the ladder on the bottom rope and hits a backbreaker across it for a nearfall.

Ladder set in the corner and Sabin looking for a suplex, but Hardy reversing into one of his own. Sabin counters it as well as scrambles between the legs of Hardy. Charging attack leads to Sabin being bodydropped across the ladder. Hardy with a trash can and he cracks Sabin across the head with it for a nearfall.

Crutch across the ribs of Sabin by Hardy. Table being brought inside by Hardy. Corner being used to prop the table up and Hardy looks for an ally-oop toss, but Sabin counters it into a hurricanrana. Back elbow from Hardy allows him to get up top, but he is crotched and hit with a chair across the back by Sabin. Hardy in the tree of woe and Sabin stretching the earlobes of Hardy. Slide kick with the chair from Sabin. He gets up top, but Hardy uses his core strength to sit up and hit Sabin across the back with the chair. Chair shot across the head corners Sabin. Launching off the chair, Hardy hits a heel kick.

Sabin clotheslined outside. Hardy setting up the table and lays Sabin on it after smacking his head on the steel steps. Splash from the top misses as Sabin rolls off just in time. Back inside, table is set in the middle of the ring. Sabin looking for a splash, but he lands on the knees of Hardy as the table cracks. Twist of Fate out of nowhere by Hardy. Ladder set up and Hardy heading up top. Swanton Bomb connects.

Winner by pinfall: Jeff Hardy

Show closes with both men down, but Hardy rising to his feet victorious to advance in the tournament.
