TNA Impact: Roode and Angle aim for classic rematch

Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode are aiming for the history books with their series of matches. The two have gone at it tooth and nail and Angle's age looks to be overpowering his experience. Tonight on a special Halloween edition of TNA Impact, Roode and Angle collide once again. What will be the result and what will be left of both men tonight? All that and more on this week's edition of TNA Impact!

Recap of all the latest events in TNA.

We are on tape from Salt Lake City, Utah. Mike Tenay and Taz have the call for this week.

TNA President Dixie Carter makes her way to the ring. Carter says TNA World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles showed his lack of smarts last week with his actions. Carter offered him a great deal and she will make sure that Styles knows that no one walks out on her. Styles doesn't exist to Carter any longer and she will no longer acknowledge him as the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Carter takes more shots at Styles before announcing an eight-man tournament to take the title, inviting seven men out.

"Cowboy" James Storm, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Austin Aries, and TNA X Division Champion Chris Sabin are all given introductions. Carter says there is one man missing from all of this.

Bully Ray and Brooke make their way out. Carter interrupts their entrance to announce that the winner of a gauntlet match tonight will take the final slot in the tournament. Bully wants to know how he is supposed to win back the belt without being in the tournament. Carter reiterates that Styles defeated Bully twice and he is the cause of all this. Bully blames referee Earl Hebner and Mr. Anderson for each loss.

Mr. Anderson cuts the rant short and hits the ring. The two men brawling back and forth. Anderson knocks Bully down in the corner and stomps away as we hit a break.

Recap of the action that went down between Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson. Backstage, Brooke is berating and threatening Anderson. Bully from behind with the chain and he unloads on Anderson, telling him how he really feels while brutally whipping the chain. Bully makes his point and heads off.

Garrett Bischoff backstage and he states that club business is club business regarding Anderson and Bully. Knux rushes him off to discuss their plans for the night.

Match One for the TNA Tag Team Championships: The BroMans vs. "Cowboy" James Storm & Gunner

The brawl starts on the ramp as the challengers bring the fight to the champions. James Storm whips Jessie Godderz into the steps as Gunner and Robbie E make it official inside. Robbie E shoves Gunner and Gunner goes off on Robbie E in the corner. Huge corner clothesline followed by a slingshot suplex for a quick nearfall.

James Storm in and the double elbow is followed by a knee drop for another close nearfall. Robbie E tags Godderz in as he rams Storm into their corner. Storm sent into the corner, but he explodes out to clothesline both men. Strikes rocking Godderz and Gunner brought in. Atomic drop followed by a sweep as Gunner comes in connects and the double-team maneuver gets a nearfall.

Corner work on Godderz from Gunner. Godderz fighting back, but he runs right into a back elbow for a nearfall. Storm returns with a flying fist to the ribs. Arm wrench into an Eye of the Storm gets a nearfall broken up by Robbie E. Robbie E takes Storm out, but Gunner is in to dispose of him soon after. Godderz prevents the attack from Gunner and the two team up to send him outside. Storm from behind with Closing Time. Last Call superkick sees Godderz move outside. Storm drags him back in and tries a suplex, but Robbie E trips him up and holds the leg down.

Winners by pinfall and still TNA Tag Team Champions: The BroMans

Sting backstage and he meets with Dixie Carter. Carter says she plans on lifting the ban on Sting's title chase tonight by placing him in the gauntlet match first tonight. Sting says he has earned everything he has done in his career and doesn't have a sense of entitlement before storming off.

Recap of the return of Abyss at TNA Bound for Glory.

Bad Influence each dressed as Sherlock Holmes and they plan to find out the mystery of Abyss tonight.

Match Two: Ethan Carter III vs. Norv Fernum

Big boot from Ethan Carter III. Norv Fernum being worked in each corner by EC3. Chop of the chest from EC3 and he clubs Fernum down in the corner. Fernum sent into the corner and a T-bone suplex on Fernum. Fernum fighting back with a jawbreaker, but EC3 locks in the sleeper and ragdolls Fernum around. Body strikes get Fernum out and he lands ineffective shoulder blocks. Dropkick sends EC3 into the corner. Fernum floats over to the apron and stumbles EC3 before hitting a springboard crossbody for a nearfall.

Fernum heads off the ropes, but he is pressed up into the air and he lands hard on the mat. Headlock driver plants Fernum into the mat.

Winner by pinfall: Ethan Carter III

Post-match, Carter introduces himself and tells the crowd that the world needs Carters.

Bobby Roode meeting with a doctor backstage to discuss if Kurt Angle will be able to compete tonight. Roode presenting evidence that suggests Angle may be unable to compete, but he trusts the doctor to make the right choice.

ODB backstage discussing her TNA Knockouts Championship match with Gail Kim. Bad Influence comes to question her about her friendship with Joseph Park and the whereabouts of Abyss. Eric Young soon steps in and warns the group about the monster's favorite holiday of Halloween, telling them to watch their backs.

Gauntlet Battle Royal Match Three

Sting squares off with Kazarian to start. Kazarian opening up with strikes to start. Elbow splash in the corner from Kazarian, but he taunts and gets flattened with a clothesline. Kazarian has his head slammed against the turnbuckle. Back bodydrop connects for Sting, followed up by a suplex. Kazarian rakes the eyes, but Sting fights back with clotheslines.

Knux is the next competitor to join the match as we break.

We return with Eric Young entering the match. Young with a belly-to-belly on Kazarian to start and he brawls Knux into the corner. Young mounts Knux for strikes and hits a crossbody on Kazarian before repeating the process on him. Sting misses a Stinger Splash on Knux. Young on the verge of elimination, but he rakes the eyes to stay in.

Christopher Daniels joins the matchup and saves Kazarian from elimination in the process. Daniels now focusing on Young with strikes while Knux continues to work Sting. Bad Influence in control along with Knux as we break.

Manik enters the match as we return. Manik taking out both members of Bad Influence. Knux working on eliminating Eric Young and Daniels being put up by Manik. Bad Influence now teaming up on Young, Manik hits Kazarian with a headscissors takeover that almost sends him out.

Magnus hhits the ring and takes out both members of Bad Influence as well. Magnus clotheslines both members before going blow-for-blow with Knux, but Knux with a crossbody that pancakes Magnus. Knux going after Manik, but Manik with a headscissors takeover that sends Knux over the top. Knux has been eliminated.

Manik on the apron and Kazarian with a springboard back elbow that sends him to the floor. Manik has been eliminated.

Eric Young heads up top, but he is crotched by Bad Influence and Kazarian leaps up with an enzuigiri to send him out. Eric young has been eliminated.

Magnus and Sting working on both members of Bad Influence. Kazarian taken out with a clotheslines by Sting. Driver on Daniels connects for Magnus while Sting drops Kazarian across the top rope. Sting has the eyes raked by Kazarian and the team doubles up on Magnus. Christopher Daniels clotheslined out by Magnus after a resurgence in offense. Christopher Daniels has been eliminated.

Sting hits the Stinger Splash on Kazarian and is inching towards tossing Kaz out of the ring. Magnus from behind and takes both men out together.

Winner: Magnus

Kurt Angle discussing his future for tonight. Angle has been cleared and he is coming for Bobby Roode tonight.

Dixie Carter backstage. Carter says she is prepared to reveal the brackets for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and to unveil the "Wheel of Dixie" later tonight.

Match Four for the TNA Knockouts Championship: Gail Kim (c) (w/Lei'D Tapa) vs. ODB

ODB with the takedown and punches to start. Gail Kim bounced in the corner and ODB unleashes some corner work before sending Gail Kim into the corner with velocity. Splash in the corner leads to Gail Kim moving outside. ODB chases her down, but is met by a kick. Fallaway slam counter connects for ODB and both ladies down. ODB up first and sends Gail Kim inside, but Lei'D Tapa walks her down. Baseball slide kick from Gail Kim sends ODB into the announce table. Figure-four around the ring post from Gail gets a nearfall inside.

Kicks to the back of ODB connect. Body shots from the knees by ODB, but she is put down by a clothesline for a quick nearfall. Gail Kim slams the face of ODB into the mat. Headscissors in for Gail Kim, but ODB fights to her feet to lock in a single-leg crab. Gail Kim gets to the ropes after a brief struggle. Upkick from her back connect for Gail Kim, but a dropkick in the corner fails. Clotheslines and shoulder bumps from ODB followed by a scoop slam. Thesz Press from the top gets a nearfall.

Gail Kim sat up top, but she is crotched by ODB. Front suplex connects for ODB and she covers. Lei'D Tapa on the apron to distract and ODB gets up to confront her. Rollup from behind with her hand on the ropes by Gail Kim.

Winner by pinfall and still TNA Knockouts Champion: Gail Kim

Bad Influence backstage. They have discovered the mystery of Abyss and they plan to show us next.

Bad Influence in the ring. The two chide the fans with some insults before detailing their adventure to discovering the mystery of Abyss. Daniels believes Abyss lives under the ring and takes out a pumpkin, comparing Abyss to the heavy vegetable.

Eric Young makes his way out in Joseph Park garb. Young says that, as a scientist, there's no proof that Halloween is an actual holiday. Young says that Abyss had one message for the team and starts a brawl. Young overwhelmed and out comes Abyss. Black Hole Slam for Kazarian and Daniels gets one of his own for good measure.

Brackets have been released, showing Hardy vs. Sabin, Roode vs. Storm, Angle vs. Aries, and Magnus vs. Samoa Joe.

Dixie Carter with Jeff Hardy and Chris Sabin. Carter spins the Wheel of Dixie that says both men will wrestle in a Full Metal Mayhem match next week.

Recap of the feud between Bobby Roode and Kurt Angle.

Match Five: Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle

Bobby Roode and Kurt Angle lock up. The men have a stalemate in the corner. Reset and Roode gets the back. Angle takes it and gains a suplex. Both men exchange finisher submission attempts before Roode moves outside temporarily to recover.

Roode back inside and gets the advantage with brawling tactics. Chop to the chest in the corner from Roode. Angle counters with a back elbow and a belly-to-belly suplex. Clothesline and Roode sent out. Angle meets him there and the two brawl around ringside. Belly-to-belly attempt from Angle is countered by a rake of the eyes. Angle rammed into the apron as we break.

We return with Roode knocking Angle down for a nearfall. Commercial break shows Roode taking control of Angle. Gutwrench in for Roode. Angle fights up to his feet, but Roode transitions it to an abdominal stretch. Angle gets out with the standing switch and hits a trio of German suplexes before Roode disengages. Angle ducks a Roode attack and hits three more for a nearfall.

Angle Slam attempt is turned into an arm drag from Roode. Double "R" Spinebuster by Roode plants Angle for a nearfall. Angle on the shoulder of Roode, but he slides down into the Ankle Lock. Roode struggles, but kicks Angle away. Crossface locked in now. Angle struggling to break the hold, but he manages to reach out to the leg and lock in another Ankle Lock. Roode rolls through and reapplies the Crossface. Angle again struggling, but the two men roll through to get a nearfall each.

Bout is immediately dragged back to the mat by Roode. Angle rolling through and lifts Roode into an Angle Slam for a close nearfall. Angle has the straps down and the Ankle Lock is put in once again. Roode is dragged back to the center of the ring. Hold torquing the leg of Roode, but he is able to swing his leg and roll through for a nearfall.

Angle on the shoulders of Roode once again. Death Valley Driver connects and Roode nearly gets the victory. Roode charges in after returning to his feet and is double-legged into an Ankle Lock. Roode tries to use the free leg to escape, but Angle drops down to grapevine the leg. Roode in huge trouble, but he barely makes it to the ropes. Roode now sat up top and Angle going for the Angle Slam. Roode with strikes and headbutts to put Angle down on the mat. Roode recovering, but Angle leaps up to hit the belly-to-belly. Crawling to drape the arm, Angle falls short by a millisecond on the nearfall.

Referee Brian Hebner begins his count as Angle convulses on the mat. Roode makes it to his feet with the ropes and Angle is knocked out once again.

Winner by countout: Bobby Roode

Bobby Roode concerned as he heads toward the back and Kurt Angle being taken out on a stretcher as the show closes.
