ROH: Tag titles on the line in Triple Threat
By MATT MACKINDER- SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Ring Of Honor, Adam Cole speaks and explains his actions after he won the ROH World title.

We also get a singles match, a mixed tag match and a Triple Threat bout for the World tag team championship.

Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness are ringside and we get right to it!

Match #1 - Mark Briscoe vs. “TD” Tadarius Thomas

Decent bout here, but I’ve seen better from both wrestlers. Still a better match than what you’ll see on Monday nights elsewhere.

Briscoe nails a fireman's carry slam and hits the elbow off the top rope and that’s all she wrote.

Winner via pinfall: Mark Briscoe

Thomas goes to shake Briscoe’s hand post-match, but Briscoe puts his hands together, bows and runs to the back. Odd.

The C&C Wrestle Factory (Cedric Alexander and Caprice Coleman) jaw in the back with ROH tag champs reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish). They will be two of the teams in the Triple Threat later tonight.

A smug Cole hits the ring in a suit. He talks about being a real man and doing whatever it takes to get what he wants, including being the best wrestler on the planet. He says there will be no more shaking hands or fake smiles and calls Michael Elgin and Jay Briscoe losers. Elgin comes out, Cole escapes up the aisle, but then Jay shows up and Cole gets in the ring and drops his belt. Elgin and Jay play tug of war with the belt and nearly come to blows.

Match #2 – Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis vs. Brutal Burgers (Cheeseburger and “Brutal” Bob Evans)

Yes, Brutal Burgers have arrived, folks. Sounds like they should have been on a Survivor Series team back in the day with Doink The Clown and The Bushwhackers.

Bennett superkicks Evans off the apron and then cranks Cheeseburger with the Box Office Smash (fireman’s carry into an Ace Crusher) for three. Maria holds down Evans as the count is made.

Winners via pinfall: Michael Bennett and Maria Kanellis

Bennett grabs a mic and basks in the fact that he played a major role in B.J. Whitmer retiring. He goes to piledrive Cheeseburger, but Kevin Steen comes out with mic as Evans carries Burger to the back. Steen says Bennett doesn’t have the best piledriver in the business, gets bleeped and Maria slaps him. Steen and Bennett come to blows as we go to a commercial.

Next week, it’ll be Davey Richards vs. Ricky Marvin and Steen vs. Eddie Edwards. The American Wolves hype their matches in the back as we get set for our main event.

Steve Corino joins Prince Nana and Kelly at the broadcast table, but Kelly boots Corino, who grabs a mic and gets in the ring. Corino produces a contract and said he is rightfully an ROH commentator. Nigel comes out and Corino leaves the contract in the ring and tells Nigel to “do the right thing.” Not sure I know what that means, but that was a great movie back in 1989.

Match #3 – Triple Threat Match for the ROH World Tag Team Championship – redDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish) vs. The C&C Wrestle Factory (Cedric Alexander and Caprice Coleman) vs. Forever Hooligans (Alex Koslov and Rocky Romero)

Who says tag team wrestling is a lost art? Not in ROH!

Some say that these types of matches can be a cluster, but when done right, as this one was, it’s just wonderful to watch.

After chaos ensues, the champs hit Chasing The Dragon (O’Reilly brain buster with a kick from Fish on the way down) on Koslov and the belts stay with reDRagon.

Winners via pinfall … and STILL ROH World Tag Team Champions: reDRagon

The sirens go off and Homicide and Eddie Kingston hit the ring, trying to break Fish’s fingers. The champs escape and Homicide and Kingston pose with one of the tag belts in the ring.

Great show tonight and already looking forward to next week. See ya, folks!
