Jake the Snake thrills Orillia
By GISELE WINTON SARVIS - Orillia Packet & Times

Jake "The Snake" Roberts drapes his snake over referee Eddington James on Sunday, in Orillia, Ontario.

International wrestler Jake the Snake Roberts dominated his opponents in the 3A Wrestling main event Sunday by showing them his false teeth, pulling hair and twisting fingers.

With bizarre looking partner Sinn Bodhi, aka Kizarny, the tag-team won the final match at the Orillia and District Agricultural Society hall in Orillia in front of about 200 cheering fans.

Jake the Snake then re-entered the ring with his signature snake, poking its head at his opponents shorts and then wrapping it around the referee's neck. The snake was borrowed from Scales Nature Park.

Before the main event began the crowd shouted, "Jake the Snake, Jake the Snake."

The 58-year old took the microphone and told his adoring fans, "My life is turning into a sweet thing now that I have been clean and sober for 11 months."

He told the crowd about how he has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for decades.

"I was handcuffed to hell," he said.

He tried many times to break free, but has only been successful this time. He offered advice to the crowd saying that everyone makes mistakes in life.

"Learn how to forgive yourself for making a mistake."

Then he taunted his opponents saying, "They couldn't handle me when I was drunk and stoned so how are they going to handle me sober?"

While Sinn Bodhi took most of the beating, he was finally able to tag Jake to make quick work of his opponents.

The crowd shouted out "DDT, DDT," Jake's signature finale move where he gets his opponent in front face lock and slams his head into the mat.

One of the fans of Jake the Snake in the audience was Andrew McRae from Toronto, who came to get Jake's autograph.

"I've been a fan every since I can remember," said the 26 year old. "He is a high ranking legend in the wrestling world."

At the height of his career he headlined World Wrestling Federation (WWF) events, thrilling sold out stadiums around the world. He fought against legends like Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant and the Ultimate Warrior in the 1980s.

One of the other crowd favourites of the night was Sexxy Eddie who wrestled in tight silver shorts in a tag team match with partner Sean Morley, formerly known as Val Venis. Despite getting his the front of his shorts grabbed and shaken, he triumphed against his opponents and hip thrusted the crowd.

Cody Hall shakes hands with the fans in Orillia.
Up and coming wrestler Cody Hall - the son of famous WWF wrestler Scott Hall, known as Razor Ramon - impressed the crowd with his toned figure standing six-foot, eight-inches tall and weighing in a 253 pounds where he won his match against a much smaller but brave opponent.

Senior citizen Lillian Cable of Brampton enjoyed the show sitting in the front row.

"It's better than what's on TV these days," she said.
