Smackdown!: Big Show has nothing to lose on Friday night
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

The biggest news of the week in the WWE Universe is Goldust and Cody Rhodes capturing the tag team belts from The Shield, which WWE reminds us of before the Smackdown! roll. (Who is watching Smackdown! and not RAW? That's what I want to know.) Any way, Michael Cole and JBL join us for all the action from Kansas City, Missouri.

The General Managers from both RAW and Smackdown, Brad Maddox and Vickie Guerrero, are in the ring to address the Universe. Vickie say The Authority, (which is what Hunter and Steph are calling their little group now, I guess), say she will make sure that tonight's show doesn't have any debacles like on Monday. Maddox says he has done everything in his power to ensure the Big Show doesn't get involved tonight. Vickie thanks The Authority for trusting her to do "What's best for business".

Daniel Bryan crashes the party, saying his is thrilled that both Vickie and Brad are here to carry the "Best for Business" banner. Bryan says he will do what's best when he beats Randy Orton at Hell in the Cell. Bryan says he has heard a rumor that a giant has gotten through security and introduces The Big Show, who doesn't make an entrance. Bryan admits to messing with Vickie, and says Big Show isn't here ... yet.

Bryan does introduce the new WWE Tag Team Champs, though, and Goldust and Cody Rhodes make their entrance. Vickie puts an end to the celebration by booking all three Superstars in a ring against The Shield.

Match #1 - Rowan and Harper w/ Bray Wyatt vs. The Miz and Kofi Kingston

The Miz unloads on Rowan, kicking the mask off the big man. Miz drop kicks him into the corner and tags in Kofi. Kingston takes a forearm to the face and Harper tags in. Kofi drops Harper into the ropes with a toe hold and then gets a lateral press after a cross body. Harper catches Kofi with a boot coming off the top rope. Kofi can't fight out of the corner and Harper applies a chin lock. Kofi catches Harper with a kick to the face and then sends Rowan to the floor with a low bridge. Kofi can't get the tag, as Rowan yanks Miz off the apron. Kofi ducks a big boot from Harper, but can't avoid a vicious clothesline. Harper covers and gets the win.

Winner via pinfall: Rowan and Harper

After the match, Bray tells Miz to enjoy his world as long as he can, because they are going to take it all away.

Match #2 Brie Bella w/ Nikki vs. AJ Lee w/ Tamina

AJ quickly exits the ring as the bell rings. Brie chases AJ away again, and the crazy one hides behind her protector. AJ can't hide for long and Brie catches her with a straight right. AJ focuses on Brie's injured arm to gain the upper hand. AJ keeps the pressure on by focusing on the arm that Tamina hurt on Monday. On the outside, Tamina looks to take out Nikki, but she seide steps her and Tamina crashes into the ring steps. The distraction allows Brie to hit AJ with a facebuster and pick up the win.

Winner via pinfall: Brie Bella

While announcing the next match, Lillian Garcia is interrupted by The Big Show, who takes the mic to address the Universe. Show thanks everyone int he crowd for supporting him through his tough times. Brad and Vickie storm to the ring, and Brad wants answers. They tell Show to hit the road, because he has nothing to lose. Show agrees and knocks out Maddox with one punch. ONE PUNCH, SON! Show exits through the crowd.

Match #3 CM Punk vs. Big E Langston

Langston elbows Punk in the face and follows with shoulder block. Punk counters a clothesline with a kick to the arm, but can't avoid a splash in the corner. Langston clubs Punk over the back. Langston charges Punk at the ropes, but Punk sends him spilling to the floor. Punk flies over the ropes, only to have Langston catch him and slam him into the ring post and then the security barrier. And we go to commercial.

After the break, Langston has Punk locked in a half crab. Punk fights out, but Langston is able to lock him in another half crab. Punk gets to the ropes to break the hold. Punk gets his knees up to counter a splash from Big E and then unloads with a series of kicks. A spinning heel kicks knocks E off his feet. Punk leap frogs E in the corner, causing Langston to spear the ring post. Punk then dives over the ropes to take out E on the outside. Punk rolls him into the ring and connects with a cross body off the top rope. A running high knee follows and then Punk goes up top to drop the elbow. Langston kicks out at two. Punk calls for the GTS, but E fights out and hits a clothesline. E follows with a splash and looks for the Big Ending. Punk slides out, kicks Langston in the head and hits the GTS. Punk covers to get the win.

Winner via pinfall: CM Punk

After the match, Punk is congratulated by Paul Heyman, who is flanked by Curtis Axel and Ryback. Heyman warns Punk about facing Ryback at Hell in the Cell, because Ryback is better than the rookie he just beat. Punk calls Heyman an idiot. Ryback and Axel run down, attacking Punk. Punk as an unlikely ally, though. Big E Langston attacks Ryback and Axel, clearing the ring. Langston shows he deserves respect.

Josh Matthews is in the ring to interview World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio about facing John Cena at Hell in the Cell. (This can't end well for Matthews.) Del Rio calls Cena a gringo, saying he has gotten soft. Del Rio then slaps the cross arm breaker on Matthews to show Cena what he can do.

Match #4 The Real American vs. The Usos

Instead of staying at ringside, Zeb Colter joins Cole and JBL on commentary. Jey hits Cesaro with a spinning back elbow and then a sit down half nelson slam. Cesaro gets Jimmy in the swing for almost 30 straight seconds. (I can't take this match seriously with the ridiculous commentary coming out of Colter's mouth.) Los Matadores interrupt the match, and Colter heads up the ramp to cut them off. Unfortunately, Colter gets gored by El Torito, twice. (I've been waiting for this moment since EL Torito debuted.) The Usos take advantage of the distraction and hit Swagger with a splash off the top rope and get the win.

Winner by submission: Alberto Del Rio

Match #5 The Prime Time Players and The Great Khali vs. 3MB

And now it's time for some nonsense. Khali finally ends with the over head chop to Heath Slater.

Winner via pinfall: The Usos

After the match, Los Matadores get in on the action, allowing El Torito hit Swagger with a seated senton.

Match #6 Cody Rhodes, Goldust and Daniel Bryan vs. The Shield

Randy Orton walks out on stage to address Daniel Bryan. Orton says he is in way over his head if he thinks he can win at Hell in the Cell. Orton says he will be the face of WWE once more.

Roman Reigns starts things off by driving Goldust into the corner. A back elbow get s Goldust a two count and then follows with an atomic drop. Cody makes a tag and enters with a missile drop kick. Reigns drives Cody shoulder first into the ring post and we go to break.

After the commercials, Cody is trapped in the heel corner. Rollins shoots off the rope and connects with a low drop kick. Cody nearly gets a pin with a back slide. The Shield tag in and out quickly to keep Cody off balance. Cody sidesteps Reigns, sending him to the floor. Cody catches him coming back into the ring with a drop kick. Bryan gets the hot tag, unloading on Ambrose. Bryan takes him down with a clothesline and follows with a hurricanrana off the top rope. Reigns and Rollins breaks the pin. Goldust and Cody jump in to clear the ring with Cody hitting Rollins with a disaster kick. Bryan and Ambrose collide in the middle of the ring and both men are down. Outside the ring, Reigns slams Cody into the barricade. Goldust side steps a spear from Reigns, and he crashes into the ring steps.

Back in the ring, Bryan unleashes a flurry of kicks and then catches Ambrose with a knee to the midsection and a suplex. Ambrose cuts Bryan off on the turnbuckle, hitting a superplex. Rhodes breaks the pin. Rollins catches Rhodes on the apron and power bombs him into his brother. Bryan is able to apply the Yes lock, but Rollins makes the save. Bryan knocks Ambrose and Rollins to the floor and flies over the top rope to take them out. Ambrose is rolled into the ring and Bryan crushes him with the flying knee. Bryan covers to get the win.

Winner via pinfall: Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes and Goldust

Cody and Goldust get out of town as a livid Bray Wyatt hits the ring, as this was the Wyatts first loss. The show ends as Cody and Goldust make their way up the ramp.
