Smackdown!: With Battleground looming, Orton and The Shield take on the Big Show
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Battleground is Sunday, so WWE has one last chance to sell us on this throw away Pay Per View with tonight's Smackdown! Daniel Bryan probably won't be on the show from Baton Rouge, Louisiana seeing as he got destroyed at the hands of Randy Orton on Monday Night RAW. As always Michael Cole and JBL call the action.

The Big Show makes his way to the ring to start the show. Show tells the crowd he is ashamed of himself for doing some "very bad things to very good people". Show explains he has done what he needed to do to provide for his family. He doesn't want our forgiveness; he just wants us to understand his situation. Show is angry and frustrated and he is going to turn all that emotion on The Shield tonight. Show vows to take the Shield down with him, when COO of WWE Triple H walks out on stage.

Hunter tells Show that this situation is all on him and that he has gone out of his way to help him. Hunter has paid off Show's debt to the bank, but now he is indebted to Hunter. After Show's rant, Hunter doesn't think it's fair to The Shield to face an emotional giant, so he adds Randy Orton to the match.

Match #1 - RVD w/ Ricardo Rodriguez vs. Fandango w/ Summer Rae

RVD blocks a cheap shot from Fandango and the kicks him into the corner. A monkey flip sends the dancer flying across the ring. Fandango catches RVD on the apron, sending him to the floor and we go to commercial.

After the break, RVD connects with a thrust kick off the second rope and follows with a spinning heel kick to the jaw. RVD hits Rolling Thunder and goes up top. Summer Rae pulls RVD off the top rope. The ref calls for the bell, giving RVD the win, but allowing Fandango to jump him.

Winner via disqualification: RVD

Fandango goes looking for weapons, but RVD is able to stop him with baseball slide. RVD rolls Fandango back into the ring and hits him with a DDT. Van Dam grabs a trash can and sets Fandango up for the Van Terminator. RVD connects from the other side of the ring.

Match #2 Ryback vs. R-Truth

Ryback squashes Truth with the Shell Shock.

Winner via pinfall: Ryback

After the match, Curtis Axel jumps in the ring to get revenge on Truth for beating him on Monday.

Renee Young is backstage with World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio and wants his thoughts on facing RVD in a Hardcore match. Del Rio said he will dump RVD in a trash can and send him back to the dump. A random PA interrupts to give Del Rio the trashcan that RVD used earlier. He says it's a gift from RVD. Del Rio storms off.

Match #3 Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler

Mr. Money in the Bank Damien Sandow joins the announce table because he will be facing Ziggler in the kick off match. Ziggler tries to catch Del Rio with a roll up, but Del Rio is able to kick out. Ziggler knocks the champ to the floor and we go to break.

After the commercials, Del Rio slams Ziggler to the mat. Ziggler connects with a standing drop kick but then misses a spear in the corner, catching the ring post with his shoulder. On commentary, Cole tries to goad Sandow into cashing in the MitB and it's getting annoying. Ziggler catches Del Rio on the top turnbuckle and delivers a face buster from the top. Del Rio and Ziggler trade shots in the middle of the ring. Ziggler connects with a neck breaker, but Del Rio blocks the famouser and counters with tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Del Rio goes high risk again, and Ziggler catches him with a drop kick in mid-air. Del Rio responds with an enziguri, but Ziggler kicks out. Del Rio kicks out of a pin after sunset flip powerbomb. Ziggler locks in a sleeper, but Del Rio is able to break the hold. Ziggler misses a splash in the corner, eats the turnbuckle and then catches an enziguri from Del Rio. Orton counters a choke slam with a DDT. Show counters Reigns with a side suplex and whips him into the corner. Show connects with a spear, but Orton, Ambrose and Rollins hit the ring. Show fights them off, until Ambrose hits him with a chair. Reigns follows with a spear and Orton delivers an RKO. Orton looks to do more damage, when the Usos hit the ring. They take out the Shield, as Daniel Bryan slips in and takes out Orton. Bryan is able to apply the YES lock, but Ambrose is able to make the save. Bryan hits the running knee on Ambrose as Orton makes a retreat.
