WWE Main Event: Marella looks to strike Sandow

The returning Santino Marella has been on a little roll as of late, using his unorthodox style and distracting humor to pick up wins left and right. Tonight on WWE Main Event, the Cobra looks to strike venom into Mr. Money in the Bank, Damien Sandow. Plus, The Wyatt Family, Tons of Funk, WWE Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel, and many more see action. All that and more on this week's edition of WWE Main Event!

We are on tape from Baton Rouge, La. Josh Mathews and Alex Riley have the call for this week.

Prior to his match, Damien Sandow has something to say. Sandow says that "in the valley of the stupid, the halfwit is king." Sandow believes this why everyone cheers Santino Marella. Marella is deemed a "power-walking, puppet-wielding pest" by Sandow to conclude.

Match One: Santino Marella vs. Damien Sandow

Santino Marella looking to lockup, but Damien Sandow using the ropes to escape attack. A Cobra attempt leads to Sandow doing the same. Lockup and Sandow gets the side headlock takeover to the mat. Marella countering with a legscissors choke and repeat of the same process sees Sandow tire of the grappling as he lands a shoulder bump.

Boot to the stomach followed by a headbutt off the reset in offense. Off the ropes, Marella counters a hip toss with an attempt of his own, but he is hit with a Sandow lariat. Marella frustrated as they lockup. Side headlock for Marella and he is sent off the ropes. Hip toss counter converts for Marella twice this time around and he runs Sandow into the corner with a Cobra threat. Corner work from Sandow counters. Marella off the ropes again and he begins to power-walk, only to eat a knee to the midsection. Axhandle smash misses and Santino with the legsweep. Elbow of Disdain attempt from Marella is countered by a barrage of knees. Action moves to the floor as we break.

We return with Sandow working the legscissors around the body. Santino punches his way free, but gets struck in the throat. Elbow drops and knee drops from Sandow get a brief nearfall. Sleeper locked in for Sandow. Marella attempting to fight out, but Sandow uses the neck to pull Marella down to the mat hard for a nearfall.

Marella again deposited outside and Sandow rams him into the ring apron. Elbow drop across the neck of Marella as he is draped on the apron. Elbow drop by Sandow gets a nearfall and he locks in the sleeper to follow. Saito Suplex attempt from Marella is countered and Sandow falls on top for a nearfall.

More work from corner to corner by Sandow. Marella fired up as he has his head slammed against the turnbuckle and he does it himself to pump up, but he Flair flops coming out of the corner. Elbow of Disdain connects for a Sandow nearfall. Punches knocking Marella down. Marella fights up to hit a Saito Suplex. Sandow runs into the corner as Marella ducks away. Shot after shot followed up by the split drop-down and hip toss. Headbutt connects and it could be Cobra time. Sandow moves outside and forces a Marella chase.

Inside, Sandow steps on the Cobra and rips it from the arm of Marella. Marella wants it back and Sandow tosses it up in the air. Kick to the stomach as Marella goes for it and The Silencer connects.

Match Two: The Prime Time Players vs. The Wyatt Family

Luke Harper starts out with Darren Young. Side headlock attempt from Young is quickly shoved away by Harper. Young opening up with strikes, but a few from Harper drop him.

Erick Rowan and Titus O'Neil in. Rowan with forearms and some corner work before sending O'Neil into the opposite corner. Boot counter sends Rowan away and O'Neil opening up with strikes. Young back in and the double shoulder bump gets a nearfall.

Stomping and grounding strikes from Young. Off the ropes, he runs into a spinning heel kick from Rowan. Young picked up from the canvas by Rowan and laid across the corner. Harper in and Rowan and himself club the chest of Young relentlessly. Young attempts to fight back, but he is met with a huge elbow. Slingshot in between the ropes by Harper.

Rowan back inside and he drives the knee into the chest of Young. Clubbing forearm across the back from Rowan is followed by an elbow drop. Another quick tag exchanged and Harper muscling Young inside the ring and out. Head-and-arm choke is followed by a pair of gator rolls by Harper. Young hoisted up, but he lands clubbing elbows to the head of Harper. Enzuigiri followup wobbles Harper.

O'Neil in with a shoulder block for Harper and he sends Rowan off the apron. Strikes and a corner splash on Harper. Big boot and Harper pulled into a powerslam for a nearfall that is broken by Rowan. Young in to attack Rowan, but he is taken by the neck and thrown to the floor. O'Neil sends him away, but he runs into the spinning lariat.

Winners by pinfall: The Wyatt Family

Post-match, Bray Wyatt inside to hit Sister Abigail on O'Neil as we hit the break.

Match Three: Curtis Axel (w/Paul Heyman) vs. Zack Ryder

Lockup from Curtis Axel sees him hastily disengage, allowing Zack Ryder to land a clothesline for a quick nearfall. Ryder with a quick rollup nearfall that corners Axel. Axel calls for Paul Heyman, which sees Ryder rush in to get kicked in the knee. Clothesline to the back of the head from Axel and he works Ryder over in the corner. Snapmare and running neckbreaker followed by a dropkick for a nearfall.

Fishhooking the mouth is Axel. Scoop slam followed by an axhandle smash from the second rope for a nearfall. Axel grinding the face of Ryder into the mat. Axel looking for a bodydrop, but Ryder counters with a facebuster. Right hands are followed by a flying forearm for Ryder. A cornered Ryder gets the knees up as Axel runs in and Ryder hits a missile dropkick for a nearfall.

A crawling Axel gets his head dropkicked into the turnbuckle. Broski Boot from Ryder connects, but Axel holds the ropes to stay away from a pinning predicament. Ryder thrown headfirst into the turnbuckle and he has his head stomped into it for good measure. Hangman's facebuster connects for Axel.

Match Four: Tons of Funk (w/The Funkadactyls) vs. The Real Americans (w/Zeb Colter)

Jack Swagger and Brodus Clay start us off. Swagger opening up with right hands and he heads off the ropes, running right into a series of scoop slams from Clay. Fisherman's suplex from Clay gets a nearfall. Clay corners Swagger and misses a splash attempt. Antonio Cesaro in and Swagger chop blocks the knee. Stomps from Cesaro keep Clay down. Cesaro hooks the legs of Clay and hits the Cesaro Swing for ten rotations for a nearfall.

Front headlock in for Cesaro and he drives Clay back to get a tag. Swagger working Clay over in the corner. Clothesline drops Clay and a Swagger Bomb connects. Cesaro in to land the leapfrog stomp for a nearfall. Swagger back inside and he slaps Swagger around, but a fisherman's suplex convets.

Cesaro and Tensai inside now. Tensai unloading strikes and gets a corner splash. Monster shoulder block corners Cesaro and Tensai with a cannonball splash for a nearfall that is negated by a rope break. Tensai looking to finish Cesaro and Clay comes in to knock Swagger down. Swagger quickly back to his feet to drag Clay outside and distract Tensai. Tensai turns right into a Neutralizer.

Winners by pinfall: The Real Americans

The show closes with Zeb Colter leading The Real Americans with their mantra in celebration.
