WWE Main Event: Heyman leads Axel into battle with Ziggler

After taking a beating despite a win over CM Punk, Paul Heyman has fallen under some hard times. However, with the discovery of Ryback as the newest member of the Heyman fold, the future looks bright for the faction. Tonight on WWE Main Event, WWE Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel looks to continue the dominance of the group against Dolph Ziggler. All of that and more on this week's edition of WWE Main Event!

We are on tape from Cincinnati, Ohio. Josh Mathews and Alex Riley have the call for this week.

Match One: Dolph Ziggler vs. Curtis Axel (w/Paul Heyman & Ryback)

Lockup sees Curtis Axel nabbing the side headlock. Dolph Ziggler out and he lands an arm drag into an armbar. Side headlock of his own in on Axel. Side headlock takeover plops Axel onto the mat. Axel up and sends Ziggler into the ropes, only to fall back to the mat with a shoulder bump. Ziggler off the ropes and he catches himself before Axel can capitalize off some leapfrogs and ducks. Axel moves outside to regroup. Back inside, lockup allows Axel to drop Ziggler with a strike to the midsection. Elbows driven into the back and head of Ziggler. Whip into the corner with some velocity drops Ziggler for a nearfall.

Camel Clutch variation in for Axel. Ziggler turns out, but Axel with a kick to the midsection again to drop Ziggler. Scoop slam in the corner is followed by an elbow drop for a quick nearfall. Axel in control with power offense and the sleeper is locked in. Ziggler fights out and some leapfrogging and ducking after sending Axel off the ropes gets a dropkick. Relentless punches from Ziggler. Attempted whip from Ziggler is reversed and Axel sends Ziggler toppling out to the floor as we break.

We return to Axel again working the sleeper. Jawbreaker from Ziggler breaks the hold. Ziggler misses a splash in the corner and Axel gets a nearfall from it before working more grinding offense. Backbreaker across the knee gets another brief Axel nearfall.

Abdominal stretch variation stretching Ziggler now. Right hands break the hold, but Ziggler pressed into the air and he comes crashing down off coming off the ropes for a nearfall. Axel with some followup strikes to get another quick pin attempt. Axel toying with Ziggler, who double-legs him down. Axel quick to his feet to plant Ziggler with a dropkick for a nearfall. Side headlock worked out of by Ziggler, but a lariat to the back of the head puts him down once again for an Axel nearfall.

Down and out in the corner, Ziggler plays matador to send Axel shoulder-first into the ring post. Axel falls outside and both men worse for wear as they return to the feet. Dropkick by Ziggler corners Axel. Running splash is followed up by a furious flurry of fists from Ziggler. Swinging neckbreaker leads to a clothesline for a nearfall.

Famouser misses and Axel with a back-drop suplex for a nearfall. Ziggler sneaks a Famouser in for a close nearfall. Both men back up and Ziggler attempts a Zig Zag. Axel shucks him off and attempts a Perfect-Plex, only for Ziggler to land a jumping DDT for a nearfall.

Ziggler going up top and Ryback attempts to get involved, but Ziggler kicks him away. Axel knocks Ziggler down and the referee gets tied up as Ryback decapitates Ziggler with a clothesline to the floor. Hangman's facebuster converts.

Winner by pinfall: Curtis Axel

Match Two: Kofi Kingston vs. Fandango (w/Summer Rae)

Lockup sees Fandango grabbing the back of Kofi Kingston. Kingston locks in an armbar and Fandango with a trip into an armlock of his own. Kingston flipping through and landing an axhandle smash as Fandango crawls under the bottom rope. Side headlock from Kingston allows him to land a shoulder block off the ropes. Hip toss attempt from Kingston is countered by a Fandango monkey flip. Kingston lands on his feet and monkey flips Fandango. Fandango moves outside to regroup.

Fandango returns to the ring and starts landing blows. Work in the corner from Fandango allows him to lock in the side headlock. Fandango sent off the ropes and he lands a shoulder bump. Leapfrogging and ducking from Kingston allows him to land a corkscrew elbow and a dropkick.

Fandango again outside and Kingston attempts to slide kick, but Fandango pulls him out and lands a strike. Whip sees Kingston maneuver his way into the ring to avoid the apron. Kingston taunting Fandango, who charges in and is tossed out in turn. Suicide dive from Kingston puts Fandango down as we break.

We return with Kingston working leg kicks. Right hands force Fandango into the corner. Kingston whipped into the opposite corner and he floats over to the apron to land a strike. Summer Rae with a distraction that allows Fandango to kick Kingston off the top. Dropkick moves the action back to the floor.

Fandango with a strike and bouncing the head of Kingston off the apron before he returns to the ring for a nearfall. Reverse chinlock in for Fandango. Kingston fights up and attempts a sunset flip, but Fandango keeps his balance to land a downward punch. Kingston sent into the corner hard. Snap suplex from Fandango puts Kingston down for a nearfall.

Side headlock in for Fandango. Kingston and Fandango attempts a Saito Suplex, but Kingston flips out for one of his own to put both men down. Kingston resurgent with kicks and some clotheslines en route to a Boom Drop. Trouble in Paradise attempt misses as Kingston sent into the corner. Kingston ducks between the ropes to land the pendulum kick and springboards to land a forearm shot for a nearfall. Fandango with a strike to the head as both men jockey for position that drops Kingston for a nearfall.

Both men exchanging blows and Kingston with a series of roundhouses to body before landing a dropkick. SOS nearly gets Kingston the win. Kingston sent off into the corner off a reversal, but Fandango mule kicked away. Trouble in Paradise connects.

Match Three: Damien Sandow vs. Justin Gabriel

Justin Gabriel and Damien Sandow exchanging holds in a grappling exchange. Sandow with a back elbow that is met by a Gabriel dropkick. Backslide and crucifix pin attempt from Gabriel earn nearfalls.

Arm wrench and some forearms from Gabriel. Sandow sends Gabriel off the ropes and tosses him out to the floor. Gabriel rammed into the apron as Sandow tosses him back inside for a nearfall.

Headbutt is followed up by some heavy striking in the corner by Sandow. Snapmare is followed up by an axhandle smash for a brief nearfall. Russian Legsweep allows Sandow to land the Elbow of Disdain for another quick nearfall. Quick kneedrop misses for Sandow and Gabriel with leg kicks into the spinning back kick to the head. Head kick drops Sandow for a nearfall.

Gabriel sent off into the corner, where he mule kicks Sandow away to land a springboard crossbody for a nearfall. STO lets Gabriel get up top. 450 Splash is rolled away from by Sandow, who tosses Gabriel into the turnbuckle before landing The Silencer.

Winner by pinfall: Damien Sandow

Damien Sandow reminds us of his title of "Mr. Money in the Bank" and his title aspirations before closing out the show with him soaking in the victory.
