WWE Main Event: Del Rio, Langston tested prior to SummerSlam

Only a few days away from SummerSlam, many on the roster in the WWE are looking to coast into one of the company's paramount shows. Tonight on WWE Main Event, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio takes on Cody Rhodes in a battle of two SummerSlam competitors. Additionally, Big E Langston gets a shot to work out the kinks before his mixed tag match on Sunday. All that and more on this week's edition of WWE Main Event.
We are on tape from San Jose, Calif. Josh Mathews and The Miz have the call for this week.
Match One: Alberto Del Rio vs. Cody Rhodes
Lockup leads to a stalemate to start us off. Alberto Del Rio gets the back off another lockup. Cody Rhodes sweeps the leg to get out. Del Rio starts unloading with kicks and already looks for the Cross Armbreaker, which Rhodes shucks away. Reset on the feet and Del Rio with strikes into a side headlock that he has a vice grip on. Rhodes escapes after multiple attempts with a Saito Suplex and a dropkick. Forearms and Rhodes goes off the ropes, only to run into a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for a nearfall.
Del Rio choking Rhodes on the bottom rope to take advantage of the momentum. Side slam from Del Rio earns him another nearfall.
Sleeper hold locked in around the throat of Rhodes. Rhodes strikes out, but is beaten to the mat by Del Rio. Rhodes escapes to the apron to hit a shoulder thrust to the midsection of Del Rio. Up off the ropes and Rhodes connects with a springboard dropkick. A series of right hands drops Del Rio and Rhodes with a drop-down slap. Rhodes with a rope-assisted kick to the midsection of Del Rio. A cornered Del Rio introduces an elbow to the head of Rhodes. Saito Suplex is flipped out of by Rhodes, who hits a Disaster Kick to send Del Rio to the floor as we break.
Del Rio in control as we return. Rhodes kicks Del Rio on a back bodydrop attempt, but he ends up getting put on the apron with the move. Hangman's neckbreaker from Del Rio and an armbreaker over the bottom rope takes the action to the floor.
Running put to the ribs of Rhodes outside. Del Rio sends Rhodes into the barricade in a variety of ways before the action slips back inside the squared circle.
Inside, Del Rio still working to ground Rhodes down. Rhodes fights out of the corner, only to be rammed into it by Del Rio to stop the momentum. Rhodes hung in the tree of woe and Del Rio nails him with a running knee to the stomach. Rhodes placed up top in reverse position and Del Rio looking for a reverse suplex. Rhodes elbowing out and he connects on a moonsault crossbody to the standing Del Rio. Both men down. Rhodes counters a charging Del Rio and snapmares him into a running knee for a nearfall.
Rhodes put into the corner by Del Rio, but Rhodes presses off and looks for Cross Rhodes. Del Rio counters and is able to work him into the opposite corner to land the step-up enzuigiri for a nearfall.
Del Rio with some stomps before he heads up top. Rhodes is able to meet him there with punches and forearms. Seizing the arm, Del Rio locks in a Cross Armbreaker across the ropes. Del Rio relinquishes the hold with little time to spare and runs right into a Disaster Kick for a nearfall as he returns to the ring.
Del Rio up and Rhodes looks for the Cross Rhodes. Del Rio hits an armbreaker and works the arm with kicks as Rhodes crawls to his feet. Cross Armbreaker attempt is worked out of by Rhodes, but Del Rio grabs the back and hits a German Suplex into a bridging nearfall.
In the corner, Del Rio uncovers the knee and looks for a running knee. Del Rio misses Rhodes, who ducks and is able to hit Cross Rhodes. Both men put down and the referee begins his count. Rhodes is the first up, but Del Rio grabs the tights to run him into the corner. Cross Armbreaker in. Rhodes struggling to fight the hold off, but Del Rio gets it in tight.

Match Two: The Usos vs. 3MB (w/Jinder Mahal)
Heath Slater starting off with Jimmy Uso. Slater ducks away from a lockup and does some of his usual antics. Another lockup sees Slater lock in a side headlock. Shoulder bump after coming off the ropes from Slater. Attempted hip tosses from both men are countered and Jimmy with a lariat that earns him a nearfall.
Jey Uso brought in with an axhandle smash to the wrenched arm of Slater. Slater sent into the corner and he kicks Jey down.
Drew McIntyre in and he clubs Jey down. Stomps, strikes, and everything but the kitchen sink being thrown at Jey here. Kick from McIntyre is ducked by Jey, who is able to roll over to his and get Jimmy Uso back inside with a sunset flip for a nearfall.
Clotheslines followed up by a corkscrew on McIntyre connect. Splash in the corner from Jimmy connects. McIntyre charges and Jimmy back bodydrops him out on top of his 3MB bandmates as we hit a break.
Action returns with Heath Slater stomping down Jimmy Uso in the corner. Snapmare followed up by a knee to the back as Slater as both teams make quick tags. Jey Uso now working the left arm of Drew McIntyre. Arm wrench and Jimmy is brought back in with a hard chop to the chest. Jimmy floats over to the apron and strikes McIntyre, Jinder Mahal, and Slater away. McIntyre returns with a boot that sends Jimmy down to the floor.
McIntyre with some taunting and he tags in Slater as they continue to work on Jimmy on the floor. Slater whips Jimmy into the barricade with some scary velocity. Action moves back inside for Slater to grab a nearfall.
Sleeper locked in for Slater. Jimmy hits a jawbreaker to get out. Slater staggered, but he connects with a heel kick for a nearfall before bringing McIntyre back inside.
McIntyre working some power offense on Jimmy. Chops and stomps are delivered every which way, including from Mahal on the outside. McIntyre with a quick nearfall before Slater returns as the legal man.
Jimmy fighting both men off, but he is kicked down for another nearfall. 3MB keeping the fresh man inside the ring and they work a methodical pace. McIntyre is in and he heads off the ropes, only to be put on his back by a Samoan Splash. Both men down.
Slater and Jey brought in. Jey unleashing clotheslines and a drop-down slap before cornering Slater to land a running butt splash for a nearfall that is caused by McIntyre interference.
Jimmy tagged in, but McIntyre is holding his leg after being shoved outside by Jimmy during the melee. Superkick by Jey converts to put Slater down and he heads off the ropes to hit a suicide dive over the top to take out Mahal and McIntyre. Jimmy finally up top and he connects on a splash.
Winners by pinfall: The Usos

Match Three: Big E Langston (w/AJ Lee) vs. Justin Gabriel
Lockup and Big E Langston roughs Justin Gabriel into the corner. Langston wrenching the front headlock in on Gabriel as he attempts to continue the takedown. Gabriel again cornered and he ducks Langston to unload chops. The strength of Langston again comes into play, but Gabriel dropkicks him into the corner. Gabriel charges, but he runs right into an STO from Langston. Splash from Langston gets a nearfall.
Huge right hand drops Gabriel and Langston puts in the abdominal stretch. Gabriel elbowing the thigh to get out. Gabriel with a combination of kicks that puts Langston on rubbery legs, but a belly-to-belly suplex catches Gabriel on the bad end of a nearfall.
Knee in the back of Gabriel, Langston locks in the reverse chinlock to stretch his opponent out. Gabriel drapped across the apron and Langston with a clubbing clothesline. Power offense keeping Langston firmly in control and Langston with a trio of backbreakers across the knee. Langston again picking up momentum running the ropes, but he misses on the splash attempt. A cornered Gabriel ducks Langston to hit an enzuigiri to the back of the head and gets a rollup nearfall.
Roundhouse kicks to the body are followed up by a spinning back kick to the head by Gabriel. Forearms and a spinning hook kick put Langston in the corner. Gabriel unloading to connect with a springboard crossbody. Langston with the catch and attempted Big Ending, but a reverse DDT counter converts for Gabriel Spingboard moonsault lands for a close nearfall.
Langston struggles to his feet and Gabriel lands a series of forearms. Front headlock leads to Langston vaulting Gabriel into the air. Huge running splash and a Big Ending for Langston seal the deal.
Winner by pinfall: Big E Langston
Big E Langston and WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee lurk over Gabriel in celebration as the show closes.
