Tara released by TNA, DOC's contract expires
By JON WALDMAN -- SLAM! Wrestling

Tara

The cuts keep coming for TNA, as Tara has been released from her contract.

In a post on the company's website, TNA stated that, "IMPACT Wrestling has released Tara. We thank Tara for all her contributions and wish her the best of success in the future."

As of 8:30 central, Tara, real name Lisa Marie Varon, had not issued a statement via Twitter.

DOC's departure was announced via his own Twitter account. "My contract with TNA Wrestling expired July 12th, as of this evening we have officially parted ways. #SUNTANBIKERMAN tours again!!" he posted.

Tara came to TNA shortly after parting ways with WWE back in 2009. She would instantly become one of the headlining Knockouts, immediately entering into a feud with The Beautiful People. Throughout her run in TNA, Tara would more often than not be part of the main event scene, holding the Knockouts title on five occasions and the Knockouts Tag Team Titles once with Brooke Tessmacher.

Towards the end of her tenure in TNA, Tara had been tied to Jessie Godderz and later his tag team partner Robbie E; however, she had been used sparingly in recent weeks, especially noticeable after she opened her restaurant, The Squared Circle, in her home town of Chicago.

Tara first gained attention as a member of the WWE roster. After developing in OVW, she came to the main roster in the early 2000s, first as the "head ho" for the Godfather and later playing a psychotic character under the name Victoria.

DOC, meanwhile, was also an ex WWE talent when he arrived in TNA roughly a year ago as part of the Aces and 8's. Originally in WWE first as Festus and later as Luke Gallows, DOC, real name Drew Hankinson, was unmasked and later given the moniker DOC (short for Director of Chaos). Over the last several weeks, DOC and Mr. Anderson had been battling for the right to be named vice president of the Aces and 8's.

Throughout his tenure in TNA, DOC was more regularly seen as part of the group rather than in an individual capacity, though at one point it had been teased that DOC would leave Aces and 8's. Hankinson's departure comes less than a week after his final moments on Impact were televised.
