Johnny K-9, associates sentenced for murder conspiracy
By TYLER ORTON - 24 Hours Vancouver

Five Fraser Valley gangsters who conspired to kill their rivals during an escalating gang war will be free to walk in about three to five years.

The UN gang members and associates were involved at different levels of either recruiting hitmen, going on scouting missions, or even shooting at rivals and bystanders.

“Killing for hire is heinous, completely wicked, and evil, and low. It places these offenders at the bottom of society,” said Justice Janice Dillon, who accepted a joint submission from the Crown and defence last week that recommended sentences between 11 and 14 years.

She gave the five double credit for time served in custody since their arrests in 2009.

In 2008, the UN gang began targeting associates of Jonathan, Jamie and Jarrod Bacon, and others in the Red Scorpions gang. Stereo installer Jonathan Barber, however, was shot to death in Burnaby when he was mistaken for Jamie Bacon.

Crown spokesman Neil MacKenzie told reporters the prosecution concluded none of the men could be convicted of Barber’s murder based on evidence available.

The men smiled and chatted with each other right before their sentencing.

Yong Sung John Lee will be free in just less than three years, while Barzan Tilli-Choli will have to wait the longest before leaving prison in about five years.

After that, the Kurdistan refugee will be deported with no chance for appeal due to the serious criminal nature of the offence he pleaded guilty to.

Ion Kroitoru will serve just less than five years for both drug trafficking as well as his role in the conspiracy to commit murder. The former WWF wrestler Johnny K-9 offered to kill rival gangsters for $10,000 a head.

Iran-born Karwan Ahmet Saed and Singapore native Dilun Heng will serve about three years to four years in prison, respectively.
