Smackdown!: Daniel Bryan still looking for respect
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Even though the Pay per View was named Payback, there still some WWE superstars with red in their ledgers. Those debts probably won't get balanced out as Michael Cole and JBL bring us the Smackdown! action from Dayton, Ohio.

Once again, Daniel Bryan kicks off the show. He addresses what happened on Monday Night, telling the crowd he has never had a match stopped due to injury. Bryan does not agree with the WWE brass stopping the match. He thinks they stopped the match because he isn't tough enough. Bryan also isn't happy with Orton, who didn't fight to keep that match going and showed pity for Bryan.

Bryan wants Orton tonight, to prove he is not the weak link. The Viper walks to the ring and tells Bryan that the match was stopped because people care about his well being. Orton says he has a new found respect for him. Bryan doesn't believe him and all he sees is pity. Orton has heard enough and tells Bryan that tonight he will have to be carried out of the ring.

Match #1 - Sheamus vs. Cody Rhodes w/ Damien Sandow

Rhodes surprise Sheamus with a flurry of punches, but the Celtic Warrior recovers, beating Rhodes into the corner. Sheamus snaps Rhodes off the top turnbuckle. Rhodes slips the outside and yanks Sheamus off the apron. He then slams Sheamus into the security barrier.

Back in the ring, Rhodes drives a knee into Sheamus' face. Rhodes catches Sheamus coming over the ropes and is able to lock in an arm bar. Sheamus powers out, but misses the running knee. Sheamus catches Rhodes and is able to hit a running senton. Sheamus takes a shot at Sandow and follows with the high knee to Rhodes. Sheamus is able to lock in a clover leaf submission. Rhodes taps.

Winner via submission: Sheamus

After the bell, Sandow attacks Sheamus from behind.

We take another disturbing look at the Wyatt family.

Match #2 Curtis Axel w/ Paul Heyman vs. Wade Barrett - Intercontinental Title Match

The Miz joins the announce table; calling Axel smart for how he won the title. Axel takes Barrett down with a drop kick and follow by dropping a fist off the middle turnbuckle. Barrett ties Axel up in the ropes and knees him to the floor. Barrett jaws with Miz, allowing Axel to get the upper hand. Axel looks for the PerfectPlex, but Barrett counters. Axel rolls away from a knee drop and hits the swinging neck break. Axel covers and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Curtis Axel

After the match, Miz confronts Axel in the ring, but Heyman pulls his client out of the ring.

If you missed it Monday, Mark Henry fooled everyone into thinking he was retiring. Instead, he laid out John Cena and wants a crack at the WWE title.

Match #3 AJ Lee w/ Big E Langston vs. Natalya

Natalya shoves AJ to the mat and locks in submission. AJ grabs the rope to the break the hold, as Kaitlyn looks on from the back. AJ locks in the Black Widow submission and Natalya taps.

Winner via submission: AJ Lee

Backstage, Aksana taunts Kaitlyn backstage and an all out Diva brawl nearly breaks out.

Match #4 Chris Jericho vs. Albert Del Rio w/ Ricardo Rodriguez

A shoulder block sends Jericho to the mat, but Jericho repays him with a clothesline. Jericho drives a knee into the back of Del Rio's head. Del Rio misses a drop kick and flies through the ropes. Jericho connects with a spring board drop kick. Rodriguez provides a distraction to give Del Rio time to collect himself in the ring and catch Jericho with a kick to the head. We go to commercial.

After the break, Jericho dodges a charge in the corner and Del Rio eats the ring post. Jericho ducks an enziguri and climbs the turnbuckle. Jericho can't get the pin with a lateral press after a flying cross body. Y2J follows with a bulldog and then the lionsault, but cannot make the pin. Del Rio looks for the cross arm breaker. Jericho counters into the Walls and gets it locked in. Rodriguez leaps to the apron and Jericho pulls him into the ring. Jericho locks in the Walls on Rodriquez as Dolph Ziggler hits the ring to get his hands on Del Rio. The champ clears out and Jericho confronts Ziggler, hitting him with the Code Breaker. Jericho leaves the ring, allowing Del Rio to pick at the carcass of Ziggler. He boots Ziggler in the head before heading to the back.

Winner via DQ: Alberto Del Rio

Match #5 Christian vs. Drew McIntyre w/ Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater

What does it say the I forgot Heath Slater's name? Other then, I'm getting old. Christian gets the pin after hitting the Kill Switch.

Winner via pinfall: Christian

After the bell, Christian tells the crowd he is happy to be back on Smackdown, when he is interrupted by The Shield. I wish I could tell you that Christian fought the good fight, and The Shield let him be, but he fell victim to the triple powerbomb.

Renne Young asks Paul Heyman why Brock Lesnar attacked CM Punk and if Heyman had any knowledge of the attack. Heyman instead goes digging into Renee's personal life. Heyman says he and Punk are still friends and he is not going to air his dirty laundry in public.

Match #6 Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan

Bryan and Orton trade punches in the corner. Orton blocks a suplex and answers with a back suplex of his own. Orton misses a knee drop, allowing Bryan to lock in a leg submission. Orton escapes and applies a head lock and follows with a side suplex. Orton suplexes Bryan over the top rope to the floor and we go to break.

After the commercials, Bryan kicks out of a pin. Orton sits Bryan on the top turnbuckle, but cannot get him over for the superplex. Bryan head butts Orton to the mat, and nails a missile drop kick. Bryan launches himself into Orton in the corner, but cannot get the pin. Orton catches Bryan with a powerslam, but only gets a one count. Bryan counters an Orton punch into backslide and the Viper kicks out. Bryan follows with a series of kicks. Orton cuts Bryan down on the top turnbuckle and is able to pull off the superplex. Bryan still kicks out. Orton whips Bryan onto the apron and hits the elevated DDT. Orton calls for the RKO, but Bryan rolls out of the ring. Orton drops him onto the security barrier. Bryan fights back and connects with a running knee off the apron. Orton gets to hid feet as Bryan flies through the ropes, taking Orton out with a suicide dive. Bryan makes back into the ring, but Orton cannot make the ten count. Orton is counted out, but Bryan refuses to take the win and wants the ref to restart the match. The show ends with Bryan chanting "YES!" in the ring.

Winner via count out: Daniel Bryan
