TNA Impact: Sting, Angle get surprising partner

Sting has a big task at hand come Slammiversary, as he will battle TNA World Heavyweight Champion and Aces & Eights leader Bully Ray in an attempt to take the belt back to TNA. Tonight on TNA Impact, Sting teams up with Kurt Angle to battle three members of Aces & Eights. The question is, who will join them? All that and more on this week's edition of TNA Impact!

Recap of all the latest events in TNA.

We are live from Tupelo, Miss. Todd Keneley, Mike Tenay, and Taz have the call for this week.

Sting and Kurt Angle make their way to the ring. Sting reminds the crowd that he will be competing for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Slammiversary. Sting says that he doesn't want to wait that long and that is why he has assembled a team for tonight.

Kurt Angle takes the mic. Angle says that D'Lo Brown quit last week, but that will be nothing compared to the pain he plans to cause tonight. Angle wants to cut to the chase and invites AJ Styles to meet him.

Angle receives his wish as Styles makes his way down the ramp. Angle asks straightforwardly if Styles will be battling with or against Aces & Eights. Styles has no response. Angle demands an answer from Styles. The two get really close before they are broken up.

Sting says he understands where Styles is mentally right now, but TNA really needs him right now. Sting says that the company is "the house that AJ Styles built." Sting knows Styles wants to do the right thing and asks if Styles is in tonight. Angle steps in and wants a final answer, prompting Styles to leave the ring.

Angle chases him up the ramp and a brawl ensues. Sting looks on in the ring, but he is soon joined by Mr. Anderson, TNA Television Champion Devon, and TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bully Ray. Aces & Eights lay Sting out with a 3D and scurry out before Angle can get back to the ring in time.

AJ Styles shown leaving the building in a fury.

Match One: Tara (w/Jessie) & Gail Kim vs. Mickie James & Velvet Sky

Mickie James starts off with Gail Kim. Forearms and clotheslines from James. Tara tries to interfere, but she is met with a dropkick. James with more forearms and she goes off the ropes. Jesse sweeps her legs from the outside as referee ODB tends to Tara. Gail Kim landing stomps and working the arm.

Tara brought in and the two team up on James. Tara working on grounding James. James in the tree of woe in the corner and Tara gets a sliding dropkick. Tara wants to celebrate a bit with Jesse, which frustrates Gail Kim.

Gail Kim with a forced tag in. Forearm after forearm from Gail Kim. Running splash in the corner on James. James fights out of the corner with forearm shots. Hurricanrana attempt fails, but Gail Kim pushed away by James long enough to land a spinning wheel kick. Both ladies down.

Velvet Sky and Tara tagged in. Clotheslines from Sky. Kick to the head and neckbreaker earn a nearfall. In Yo' Face attempt is thwarted by Gail Kim. Sky with a kick to the midsection and sends her crashing into Jesse on the apron. Tara distracted by this and she eats In Yo' Face.

Winners by pinfall: Mickie James & Velvet Sky

Post-match, Tara and Gail Kim have some heated words. Gail Kim with a clothesline and Tara is dragged to the corner. Figure Four locked in on the ring post. ODB has to yank Gail Kim off to end this confrontation.

Aces & Eights sharing some brews. They discuss their night so far. D'Lo Brown comes up, unaware there was a meeting. Bully Ray greets him, then promptly asks each member but Brown if they'll be joining him to attend to club business in the ring.

"Cowboy" James Storm is joined by Bad Influence. The group brings beer and tries to make amends prior to him refereeing their number one contender bout later in the night. They offer him a spot in the group, leaving Storm perplexed as they leave.

Aces & Eights make their way to ring. Bully Ray gives introductions, then briefs the crowd on the match himself, Devon, and Mr. Anderson will be participating in tonight. Bully wonders who the mystery partner will be with Angle and Sting, saying that he knows it won't be Styles and he knows no one in the back will want to step up to Aces & Eights.

Bully Ray gets right to club business. He demands that D'Lo Brown surrender his club colors right now. Brown refuses and Bully Ray demands once more. Brown again refuses and his jacket is ripped from him. Brown is visibly angry and Anderson tells him the group isn't for losers. Bully Ray asks what Brown will do to earn his colors once more, then tells him to sit with the timekeeper to make sure D.O.C. gets the job done against Magnus.

Match Two: D.O.C. vs. Magnus

We join the match in progress with D.O.C. holding a sleeper in on Magnus. Action during the break shows Magnus sends D.O.C. out with a clothesline. Magnus has broken free of the hold and goes up top, but he comes down on the big boot of D.O.C. Magnus being worked in the corner. Irish Whip from D.O.C. leads to a corner splash and a clothesline for a nearfall.

Sleeper once again in on Magnus. Magnus fights out of the hold, but he is soon clubbed down. Snap suplex from D.O.C. leads to a few right hands. D.O.C. again sends Magnus into the corner, but he eats a back elbow and a boot. Magnus explodes with a clothesline and a boot. D.O.C. hits a kick to the chest on a back bodydrop attempt, but Magnus hits the ropes for a clothesline. Magnus goes up top, but D.O.C. with an uppercut. D.O.C. goes up, but he is sent down with strikes. Flying elbow from Magnus gets a close nearfall.

The referee checking up on D.O.C., allowing Brown to take Magnus outside. This backfires as Magnus reverses a whip and sends Brown into the steel steps. Magnus back inside and D.O.C. lands a flapjack driver for a nearfall.

Brown is stumbling around outside. Magnus sends D.O.C. off the ropes, who is tripped up by his teammate. D.O.C. confused by this and Magnus uses this opportunity to sneak in a schoolboy rollup.

Winner by pinfall: Magnus

D'Lo Brown and D.O.C. both extremely frustrated in the ring and head back fuming.

Aces & Eights are waiting backstage for D.O.C. and D'Lo Brown. Bully Ray wants to use the infamous hammer for punishment, but Mr. Anderson suggets that they give Brown a job that he can do. Bully Ray proclaims that Brown can now help by fetching beer, ice, and cleaning bikes before berating him out of the room.

Hulk Hogan meeting with Sting and Kurt Angle. Hogan wants in tonight, but Sting and Angle convince him that he won't be able to do that. Hogan has a wild card prepared, but Sting and Angle want Magnus for tonight. Hogan relents and needs to take care of some other business.

Bobby Roode and Austin Aries backstage, nervous about their upcoming match. The two meet with James Storm, offering some beer. Roode says a rehearsed bit about him being jealous of Storm, prompting Storm to ask Aries if he put him up to that. Storm thanks them for the beer and plays some mind games with the team before walking off.

Match Three: Austin Aries & Bobby Roode vs. Bad Influence

"Cowboy" James Storm is the special guest referee for this contest.

Austin Aries and Kazarian start. Lock up and Kazarian gets an arm wrench. Aries flips and turns to get one of his own. Kazarian does some fancy flips of his own to get a trip. Match resets and Aries gets the chain wrestling in for the takedown, doing his taunting spins as he keeps his opponent down. Aries works Kazarian into the corner, but they are quickly separated. Both men rake each other in the eyes and stumble around, slapping hands in the middle of the ring in a failed tag. Both head to the apron, but are soon brought in when they realize there has been no legal tag.

Bobby Roode and Christopher Daniels are tagged in. The two try to shake hands, but both kick each other in the midsection. Lockup gets Daniels a side headlock. Daniels fails at a shoulder block and flips over Roode on a bodydrop attempt, but Roode gets a shoulder block of his own. Elbow misses for Roode and Daniels gets a shoulder block. Daniels with a jab, but he gets too cocky and Roode flattens him with a clothesline. Running knees to the stomach and a legsweep get Roode a nearfall.

Daniels isolated in the enemy corner, but he fights his way out. Roode sends him into the ropes and into a cheap knee to the back from Aries. Swinging neckbreaker from Roode. Austin Aries in and a flying elbow to the back of the neck only gets a nearfall as Storm is focused on separating Kazarian and Roode.

Aries with a body shot and a brutal chop to Daniels in the corner. Roode brought in and he chokes Daniels with his boot. Aries with some dirty offense, allowing Roode to land some strikes and send Daniels outside to the ramp. Roode and Kazarian again bucking at each other, allowing Aries to land an axhandle smash from the top. Daniels tossed in for a Roode nearfall.

Roode sent into the ropes, but he gets kicked in the back by Kazarian. Roode sends Kaz down with a punch, but Daniels with a running knee to the back to send Roode to the floor. Aries sneaking in and this allows Kaz to land an axhandle smash as Storm is distracted.

Kazarian now the legal man and a double team attack earns him a nearfall on Roode. Kazarian choking Roode with his boot. Daniels with some dirty offense that causes Aries to move inside. Storm again tied up while Bad Influence lands another double team maneuver, capped off by a springboard leg drop to the back of the head from Kaz for a nearfall.

Daniels is brought in and he lands a back elbow on Roode. Daniels up top and Kaz tries to set him up, but Roode tosses Kaz into Daniels and both men are down.

Aries in and he cleans house. Running dropkick to Kazarian and a discus forearm for Daniels. Brainbuster fails and Daniels tries a rollup, but Aries grabs the ropes to shake him. Aries bodydrops Daniels outside on top of Kaz. Suicide dive from Aries takes out both men. Back inside, Aries up top and a frog splash converts for a nearfall that is broken up by Kazarian.

Aries charges, but he is caught by both members of Bad Influence and flipped into a neckbreaker and powerbomb combo. Roode makes the save on the nearfall. Kaz tries to take Roode out, but Roode with the Double R Spinebuster. STO from Daniels. Aries with a kneebreaker into a throw that puts Daniels in the corner. Aries charges into a huge kick. Angel's Wings almost countered into a Brainbuster, but Daniels with a rollup and a handful of tights right in front of Storm.

Storm doesn't count the nearfall and Aries sneaks up on the confrontation to spit beer in the eyes of Daniels. Aries holds the beer out for Storm, who snatches it from him. This leads to another confrontation, but Daniels grabs Aries and is subsequently pulled into a Last Call Superkick. Aries mocking Storm and puts the foot on the chest. Storm only counts to two before planting Aries with a Last Call of his own. Storm heads out of the ring, bringing an end to this match.

No Contest

Aces & Eights tossing Magnus around backstage. Magnus being kicked, punched, and hit with everything but the kitchen sink. The group effectively ends the night of Magnus with the attack.

Promo hypes the return of Suicide.

TNA X Division Champion Kenny King makes his way down to the ring. He gives himself a boastful introduction, claiming to have been nothing short of amazing. King says that TNA has had to put two men in the ring with him to compete with him weekly. King cuts to the matter at hand, introducing Chris Sabin.

King invites Sabin to tell the fans his story. Sabin says he has spent his time in his basement gym and physical rehab over the past two years. Sabin tells King that he has no idea what heart he brings to the table and promises to bring the fight to King next week.

King says that Sabin is an inspiration and he invites Sabin to hold the belt. King then reminds him that this is the closest he will come to holding the belt while he is around. King demands Sabin give the belt back. Sabin does, but only after a few shots that send King packing.

Roode & Aries and Bad Influence are shown taking out James Storm backstage before officials break it up.

TNA Gut Check Bound for Glory Series tournament is previewed. One member of Gut Check will be able to qualify for the Bound for Glory Series next week.

Aces & Eights are shown celebrating what they believe will be a victory tonight.

Sting and Angle in a panic backstage as they have to head out to the ring. Hogan on the phone with what could be his wild card.

Match Four: Sting, Kurt Angle, & ??? vs. Mr. Anderson, Devon, and Bully Ray of Aces & Eights

The match starts off with the TNA side short one man. Kurt Angle starts with Devon. The two man exchange strikes before Devon rakes the eyes. Right hand after right hand from Devon follows. Angle surges with clotheslines and a belly-to-belly suplex for a nearfall.

Bully Ray is tagged in and the numbers come into play. Bully Ray keeping Angle down with strikes and clubbing blows. Bully Ray goes for a chop in the corner, but Angle ducks out and lands an arm drag. Armbar in for Angle and Bully Ray muscles him into the corner yet again. Again, same process leads to an Angle armbar.

Sting brought in and Mr. Anderson tags himself in. Anderson wants the test of strength, only to land a kick to the midsection. Anderson striking Sting repeatedly. Sting counters with an inverted atomic drop and a dropkick to follow.

Angle brought back in and working Anderson. Mud hole stomped into Anderson in the corner. Irish Whip sends Anderson hard into the corner for an Angle nearfall. Anderson counters with some dirty offense to regain control.

Devon in and he sends Angle along the ropes into a Bully Ray clothesline. Some cheap shots in the corner from Aces & Eights get Devon a nearfall. Angle and Devon exchange strikes, but Devon with more eye raking.

Bully Ray in as Angle is isolated in the enemy corner. Multiple avalanche splashes from Bully Ray in the corner and more sneaky offense from Aces & Eights. Devon in and a double team attack converts on Angle. Devon follows by knocking Sting off the apron.

Camera backstage and the rest Aces & Eights is shown to be laid out on the floor. Confusion and chaos reign as we break.

We return with Angle being worked by Bully Ray. Dropkick from Bully Ray and Anderson brought in. Running back elbow gets a nearfall. Devon brought in and he lands a neckbreaker for a nearfall.

Aces & Eights working on the neck of Angle. Devon locks in the neck crank. Angle slowly making his way to his feet. Body shots get him out and he goes off the rope, only to be kicked by Bully Ray. Corkscrew from Devon puts him down for a nearfall.

Devon with a scoop slam and a leg drop. Aces & Eights begin to taunt Hulk Hogan. Bully Ray in with a clubbing blow to the back and another neckbreaker. Bully Ray pulls the strap down and unloads a brutal chop. Bully goes to the well one too many times and Angle ducks to land the Angle Slam.

Sting and Devon in. Sting taking out everyone in sight with strikes. Clothesline and Sting Splash for Devon. Scorpion Deathdrop on Devon gets a nearfall. Anderson misses the break and lands on his own partner. Sting sends him out. Another Stinger Splash and a bulldog from Sting earns a nearfall after Bully Ray successfully breaks the pin.

The two men nose-to-nose. Strikes are exchanged until Sting takes Bully Ray down and locks in the Scorpion Deathlock. Anderson takes him out with a Mic Check. Anderson then takes Angle out by sending him into the steel steps outside.

Devon brings the table in. Sting in trouble here. 3D is coming.

Bells toll and Abyss has made his return to TNA. Clotheslines and strikes take out Devon and Bully Ray. Abyss taking out everyone in sight. Chokeslam through the table on Anderson. Black Hole Slam on Devon.

Winners by pinfall: Sting, Kurt Angle, & Abyss

The show closes with the returning Abyss standing triumphant over the destruction.
