WWE Main Event: Cesaro rematches Kingston in a classic

Antonio Cesaro was one of the hottest commodities in the WWE just a few short weeks ago. The man seemed unbeatable, stopping every challenger that wanted his coveted WWE United States Championship with his powerful Neutralizer. Tonight on WWE Main Event, Cesaro looks to get his belt back after losing it to Kofi Kingston. Will Kingston's reign be a short one? All that and more on this week's edition of WWE Main Event.

Recap of the Raw title match between Kofi Kingston and Antonio Cesaro.

We are on tape from Detriot, Mich. Michael Cole and John Bradshaw Layfield have the call for this week.

Matt Striker is joined by Antonio Cesaro. Cesaro says that he plans to dominate and use his technique and tenacity tonight. Cesaro says Kingston stole his pride and dignity and he wants to reclaim it tonight.

Match One for the WWE United States Championship: Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Antonio Cesaro


Match starts with an amateur wrestling scramble. Kofi Kingston grabs a front headlock. Antonio Cesaro with a single-leg takedown, but Kingston spins away. Lockup allows Cesaro to get the back, but Kingston gets the back of Cesaro via reversal. Cesaro with an arm wrench into a rollup for a nearfall. Cesaro again takes the back and rolls, gaining a nearfall off of the mat work.

Kingston up and gets a leg scissors rollup for a nearfall. Lockup again and Cesaro gets the front headlock, Full nelson by Cearo earns another nearfall. Armbar in for Cesaro. Kingston flips out for an arm drag into the armbar. Kingston slamming his knees into the arm. Double wristlock attempt by Kingston is thwarted when Cesaro pulls his hair to bring him to the mat for a nearfall.

Cesaro holding the side headlock. Kingston sends him off the ropes, ducking and leapfrogging. Butt bump by Kingston is caught into a suplex from Cesaro. Karelin Lift by Cesaro, leading him to toy with Kingston. Kingston rolls off the back bodydrop and lands a tilt-a-whirl headscissors for a nearfall. Cesaro moves outside as we hit the first break.

We return with Cesaro landing a European Uppercut for a nearfall. Chinlock synced in for Cesaro. Kingston off the ropes and a shoulder to the stomach from Cesaro. Leg drop to the back of the neck earns Cesaro a nearfall. Cesaro choking Kingston on the second rope, then dropping an elbow for yet another nearfall. Double underhook suplex earns a nearfall yet again for Cesaro.

Chinlock is again locked in.for the challenger. Kingston working the body shots to get out, but Cesaro with a barrage of knees to the head in the collar-elbow tie. Kingston again fights back, but Cesaro sends him off the ropes. Kingston uses this a land a few clotheslines, then a dropkick. Boom Drop lands. Cesaro moves to the apron and Kingston stalls, costing him as he eats a hangman's neckbreaker. Cesaro goes in and charges, but Kingston lands an S.O.S. for a close nearfall.

Cesaro sends Kingston into the ropes, catching him for a sitout scoop slam for another nearfall. Kingston dazed in the corner and Cesaro hits a running European Uppercut for another close nearfall. Cesaro going for the Karelin Lift, but Kingston rolls through. Cesaro hooks the leg off of the rollup and he is stunned that he still didn't get the pinfall. A frustrated Cesaro sends us to another break.

Kingston getting worked with strikes in the corner from Cesaro as we return. Cesaro misses a splash, prompting a Kingston forearm that sends Cesaro tumbling to the arena floor.

Kingston goes for a senton, but Cesaro catches him in powerbomb position. Kingston turns this into a headscissors takeover. Kingston with an axhandle smash from the steps. He takes the challenger inside, but manages only a nearfall.

Cesaro cornered and Kingston charges. Cesaro ducks away, but Kingston maintains his grip in the corner. Mule kick sends Cesaro reeling and Kingston going for the corkscrew crossbody. Cesaro with an impressive feat of strength in catching Kingston, but Kingston rolls Cesaro into a nearfall.

Cesaro with another European Uppercut, then stomping on the weakened right leg. Single-leg Boston Crab in for Cesaro. Kingston struggling, but kicks his way out. Trouble in Paradise is caught by Cesaro, who swings Kingston around by one leg before reapplying the half Boston Crab. Kingston fading fast, but inching to the ropes. Kingston gets there to break the hold. Kingston on the apron and Cesaro runs him into the top turnbuckle. Cesaro climbs to the second turnbuckle and lifts Kingston from the apron into a superplex. Nearfall yet again for Cesaro.

Scoop slam from Cesaro. Jumping stomp to the chest from Cesaro earns a nearfall. Half Boston Crab again locked in and Kingston screaming for mercy. Kingston still manages to kick Cesaro off. Cesaro charges and lands a running dropkick. Neutralizer attempt is thwarted by a bodydrop. Cesaro chases Kingston, but runs into the ropes. Kingston with Trouble in Paradise from behind.

Winner by pinfall and still WWE United States Champion: Kofi Kingston

Matt Striker joins Kofi Kingston in the ring after this grueling mat masterpiece. Kingston says that 2013 started hard, but he rose to the opportunity when he got his initial shot at Cesaro. The next week, Kingston and his wife had a baby boy. Kingston wants to tell them that he is coming home a champion.

Kofi Kingston limping around backstage. A few congratulatory wishes are halted by an Antonio Cesaro blindside attack. Cesaro stacks an equipment cart on top of Kingston, informing him that no one takes from him, as he is the one who does the taking. Cesaro walks away with a fistful of Kingston's dreadlocks.

Match Two: Justin Gabriel vs. Heath Slater (w/Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre)

Heath Slater opens up toying with Justin Gabriel, shoving him away. Lockup attempt from Slater gets him hip tossed, followed by arm dragged. Gabriel taunts Slater, then hits a drop toehold into a rollup for a nearfall.


3MB enjoy the abuse of the crowd.

Gabriel locks in the armbar. Slater up, but Gabriel locks up an arm for a tricky nearfall. Gabriel working the arm, but Slater punches out. Gabriel again counters with forearms of his own before landing another arm drag. Armbar once again in for Gabriel. Slater gets his feet on the ropes, then promptly trips Gabriel to grab a side headlock of his own. Gabriel steps on the knee, getting a side headlock of his own. Shoulder block from Gabriel. Slater tries a hip toss, but Gabriel flips out to get another armbar. Gabriel sent into the corner, but he floats over and sends Slater outside with a headscissors takeover.

Gabriel with a suicide dive on the rest of 3MB. Slater tries to land some cheap shots, but Gabriel lands first and the action goes back inside. 3MB is none too happy about Gabriel's flying attack and they attempt to get inside the ring, but the referee ejects them from ringside before they can do any harm.

Slater from behind, but Gabriel turns it around and tosses him outside while running off the ropes. Slater frustrated on the floor as we break.

We return and Gabriel still working on the armbar. Arm wrench by Gabriel sends Slater into the corner. Gabriel charges, but is backdropped to the apron. Head kick from the apron by Gabriel puts Slater down. Gabriel up top, but Slater meets him there and hits a powerslam from the top. Gabriel with his foot on the rope to end the nearfall.

Slater with the chinlock in. Gabriel fights to his feet and lands some body shots, but Slater with a knee and some boxing to put Gabriel down. Knee drop on the arm of Gabriel. Slater sends Gabriel hard into the corner and follows with some ground strikes for a nearfall.

Slater stomping on Gabriel, then goes up top. He comes down onto the sole of Gabriel's boot. Leg sweep by Gabriel. Slater charges Gabriel in the corner, but meets the turnbuckles. Body kicks followed by a spinning hook kick to the head of Slater. Spinning wheel kick leads to a splash in the corner for Gabriel. Springboard crossbody connects for a nearfall.

Forearms from Gabriel in the corner. Side kick to the torso from Gabriel. Gabriel on the second turnbuckle with a mule kick. 450 Splash is avoided, as Slater comes to meet Gabriel with right hands aplenty. Slater joins him up top, but the superplex is blocked and Slater tumbles to the mat. 450 Splash converts.

WInner by pinfall: Justin Gabriel

The show closes with Gabriel playing to the crowd in celebration.
