Smackdown!:The Undertaker returns to Friday night action
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling
It's always an interesting crowd when Smackdown! tapes across the pond in England, so expect lots of Fandango-ing in the seats tonight. If that doesn't get you excited, how about the in-ring return of the Undertaker? Those lucky Brits.
Match #1 – Jack Swagger w/ Zeb Colter vs. Alberto Del Rio w/ Ricardo Rodriguez - No DQ Match
Del Rio pummels Swagger, sending him over the top rope with a clothesline. Del Rio launches himself through the rope, taking out Swagger. Del Rio finds himself a kendo stick, but Swagger is the first to use it. The real American works over the ankle of Del Rio with the weapon. Swagger drops Del Rio over the top rope and follows him to the floor. The two men brawl up the ramp and Del Rio connects with a suplex to the steel. Del Rio sets up a ladder and drive Swagger face first into it and we go to commercial.
After the break, the action has returned to the ring. Swagger drives Del Rio to the mat with a power slam. Swagger grabs a chair, but doesn't oat attention as he returns to the ring and Del Rio catches him with an enziguri on the apron. Swagger introduces the chair to the ring, and wedges it in the corner. Del Rio hits an arm breaker and follows with series of clothesline and a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Del Rio tees off on Swagger with the kendo stick and follows with a back cracker off the ropes. Del Rio looks for the cross arm breaker; Swagger blocks it, but catches a boot to the chin for his effort. Del Rio counters an ankle lock into the cross arm breaker, but Swagger is able to break the hold and send Del Rio face first into the chair still wedged in the corner. Swagger tries to bring a ladder into the fight, but Del Rio kicks it back into the American's face. Colter distracts Del Rio allowing Swagger to drill him with the ladder.
With Del Rio down in the ring, Swagger goes for the Swagger bomb. Del Rio counters into the cross arm breaker, but Swagger breaks free after Colter slides him the kendo stick. Swagger tees off on Del Rio and then power bombs him on the ladder. Swagger covers and gets the pin.
Winner via pinfall: Jack Swagger
Match #2 – Layla vs. Aksana
Normally, I'd say this is when the crowd goes for nachos, but do they eat nachos in London? I'll just say it's time for a chip break, instead. Layla picks up the win with a roll up combination she call Infinity.
Winner via pinfall: Layla
So the WWE Divas are going to have a reality show. Yea, I'll pass.
If you missed RAW, and didn't read Matt Bishops' recap, SHAME ON YOU! But Smackdown recaps the The Shield taking on Undertaker and Team Hell No.
The Shield talk about their big win on Monday night, but The Undertaker did escape justice. Dean Ambrose promises to beat Taker tonight.
Match #3 – Fandango vs. Justin Gabriel
And this proves my theory; Europeans love Fandango!
Gabriel mocks Fandango and gets kneed in the head. Fandango catches Gabriel coming off the top rope with a kick to the gut. Fandango connects with the leg drop off the top rope and gets the pin.
Winner via pinfall: Fandango
Match #4 – Sheamus vs. The Big Show
Sheamus hammers away out Show, who responds with a head butt. Show chases Sheamus outside the ring, but gets caught on the apron. Sheamus runs into a side slam, as the crowd Fandangos. Show drops a big elbow and we go to commercial.
After the break, the crowd is still dancing and ignoring this match. Sheamus picks Show up and drops him with White Noise. He follows with the Brogue Kick, but Show ducks out of the ring before it can connect. Sheamus goes to the top rope, but is distracted by Mark Henry who runs down. Show takes advantage with a KO punch. Show covers for the win.
Winner via pinfall: The Big Show
Match #5 – William Regal vs. Wade Barrett
Barrett calls Regal a corpse and then proceeds to squash him.
Winner via pinfall: Wade Barrett
Match #6 – Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry
Orton gets out of trouble early by floating over the World's Strongest Slam. Orton connects with a DDT in the ring and follows with an elevated DDT from the middle rope. Orton fires up the crowd, and Henry rolls out of the ring. Henry picks Orton up and smashes him into the ring post. Sheamus runs in, hitting Henry with a Brogue Kick. The bells rings, but Orton follows up with an RKO.
Winner via DQ: Mark Henry
Match #7 – The Undertaker vs. Dean Ambrose w/ Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins
Ambrose dances around Undertaker, nit allowing the Dead Man to get a bead on him. Ambrose gets caught and Taker tosses him into the corner, following with body blows. Undertaker drops a leg on apron, while looking off the other members of the Shield. Ambrose hangs Taker up on the ropes and is able to work over the Dead Man. A running drop kick sends Taker to the mat. Ambrose connects with a neck breaker. Ambrose runs into a choke slam, but with a distraction Undertaker falls victim to a low blow. Undertaker locks in Hell's Gate and Ambrose taps.
Winner via submission: The Undertaker
Reigns and Rollins rush Taker after the bell, freeing their teammate. Undertaker fights The Shield to the floor, but can't overcome the numbers. Reigns spears Taker through the security barrier and Ambrose follows with a chair shot. The three pick up Taker and power bomb him through the announce table. The show ends with The Shield standing tall over the Undertaker.
