WWE Main Event: Orton battles Cesaro

WWE United States Champion Antonio Cesaro claims that no American will ever take his title away from him. Cesaro has neutralized every test that has come his way and has been mowed down the WWE roster. Tonight on WWE Main Event, in non-title action, Randy Orton could present the stiffest test for Cesaro to date. The Swiss phenom clashes with a viper in this week's main event.

We are on tape from San Antonio, Texas, Michael Cole and The Miz greet us and we move right into the main event.

Match One: Antonio Cesaro vs. Randy Orton

Recap of Antonio Cesaro's confrontation with The Miz and Ric Flair from Monday night,

Match is underway. Lockup and Orton grabs the side headlock. Throw from Orton leads to a catch-as-catch-can exchange of holds. Back to the feet and Cesaro grabs the side headlock, but this leads to another stalemate. Cesaro gets control with offense to keep Orton grounded. Thesz press by Orton changes the pace. Uppercut for a nearfall by Orton. Orton with the chinlock. Shoulder block by Cesaro sends Orton outside. Cesaro roughs him up a bit and gets a nearfall inside.

Action moves back outside as Orton tosses Cesaro to the floor. Saito suplex to Cesaro on the barricade. Orton puts Cesaro back in, but Cesaro goes outside. The chase leads Cesaro to whip Orton into the steel steps on his shoulder as we hit break.

Orton trying to turn the tide, but Cesaro with his signature Karelin Lift to gain the nearfall. Cesaro chokes Orton on the ropes and hits a hangman's neckbreaker. Cesaro goes up top, but Orton rocks him with a right hand. Orton up top and Cesaro sends him down with a headbutt. Cesaro comes down with a huge axhandle smash to the back. It was a taunt to The Miz and Cesaro lets him know as much. Cesaro locks an arm choke, but Orton fights out with strikes. Cesaro counters with a sit-down scoop slam for a nearfall.

Cesaro locks in the sleeper. Cesaro keeping Orton grounded. Orton finally gets out and lands a dropkick. Orton places Cesaro up top and unleashes a barrage of right hands. Orton with a superplex. Both men down and look worse for wear.

Cesaro once again in control with a choke in on Orton. Cesaro clinches his own bicep to tighten the grip. Orton gets out, but Cesaro tries to grab the sleeper again. Orton with a Saito suplex. The men exchange strikes in the middle of the ring, but Cesaro's European uppercuts prove to be too much. Cesaro off the ropes and he ends up on the wrong end of an Orton powerslam. Rope-assisted DDT fails and Orton on the apron. Reverse hangman's neckbreaker by Orton earns another nearfall.

Cesaro attempts a back bodydrop, but eats a boot to the face instead. Orton off the ropes, but Cesaro with a huge Very European Uppercut for a nearfall. Cesaro up top and comes down on an Orton dropkick. Another nearfall, this time in favor of Orton. Cesaro on the apron and he eats the rope-assisted DDT. Crowd is going insane.

Enter The Shield. The group surrounds three sides of the ring. The Miz hits the ring and we have a standoff. Seth Rollins give the signal to attack and they hit the ring. Miz taking on Roman Reigns, while Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose focus on Orton. Orton put down and the two hold Miz down for a huge spear from Reigns. The three now focus on Orton and land their triple powerbomb.

Cesaro reappears and hits a Gotch Neutralizer on The Miz.

This match is a no-contest.

Cesaro takes his American flag and places his foot atop Miz's chest in a triumphant pose.

Michael Cole recaps what just happened and Brad Maddox comes from the audience to take the empty seat at the announce table.

Match Two: The Prime Time Players vs. The Usos

Jimmy Uso starts with Titus O'Neil. Grappling exchange leads to Jimmy unloading with chops. Quick tags exchanged between Jimmy and Jey Uso. Jimmy is in and Titus O'Neil pushes Jimmy into his corner. Darren Young is brought in and Jimmy Uso works the power offense. Jey Uso is in and wants to do a butt splash in the corner. O'Neil saves Young from the move, but The Usos with a baseball slide that knocks Young down as O'Neil escapes. Titus blowing his whistle in frustration as we break.

Jey Uso being destroyed by Titus O'Neil as we return. The group isolating Jey Uso and making frequent tags. Darren Young with a Northern Lights suplex for a nearfall. Titus O'Neil is brought in and works power offense. Darren Young in and keeping Jey Uso down. Jey turns it around and sends Young outside. Kick by Jey to Darren Young. Jimmy Uso in like a house on fire. Full-nelson bomb by Jimmy Uso on Young. Titus O'Neil tries a run-in, but he is sent packing. Superkick and Jey Uso is in. He goes up top and Jimmy Uso with a splash to Titus O'Neil on the outside.

Jey Uso lands a splash from the top rope on Darren Young. Hook of the leg and that is all she wrote.

Winner by pinfall: The Usos
