Wrestler Hulk Hogan has filed a lawsuit against a Tampa, Fla., medical centre.

The star, real name Terry Bollea, has accused doctors at the Laser Spine Institute of negligence for performing unnecessary surgeries that damaged his back, and ultimately his career.

He also claims company chiefs used the 59-year-old's name for promotion without his permission.

Bollea filed papers at the Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court on Monday and is seeking a total of $50 million US in damages, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
