WWE Main Event: Sheamus and Ziggler put on a show

This week's edition of WWE Main Event features two men who look to gain some momentum as we push closer to WWE Royal Rumble. "Mr. Money in the Bank" Dolph Ziggler takes on former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus in the featured match of the week. Both have temporarily put their differences aside with their current rivals to meet tonight in a pivotal matchup.

Matt Striker with Sheamus backstage. Striker reminds us of the incredible 2012 that Sheamus had, but asks if he fears Ziggler will capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship before him. Sheamus says that he isn't concerned, as Ziggler will be too scared to ever cash his briefcase in. Sheamus says that Ziggler can bring anyone with him to the ring tonight, as it won't prevent him from being on the wrong end of a Brogue Kick.
Josh Mathews catches up with Big E Langston, Dolph Ziggler, and AJ Lee backstage. Mathews asks if Ziggler has lost momentum as of late. Langston is not impressed and scares Mathews away, then shares a laugh with his entourage.
Match One: Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler

The two are locked in a stalemate during the beginning moments of the match. Sheamus gets the better of Ziggler with a wristlock and lands some power offense for a nearfall. Ziggler turns the tide with a closed fist, but Sheamus once again overwhelms Ziggler with his size advantage. Sheamus working Ziggler's left arm in the corner. Ziggler's counters are thwarted by the brute strength of Sheamus. Ziggler is unable to convert his signature Name Dropper and ducks a Brogue Kick to move outside and regroup.
Ziggler takes control with the neckbreaker for a nearfall. The smaller Ziggler aiming to keep Sheamus grounded. Headlock in for Ziggler and he poses for a headstand. Sheamus eventually shakes Ziggler off, but he runs into a drop toehold from Ziggler. Dropkick from Ziggler earns another nearfall. Sleeper applied by Ziggler. Ziggler converts on a running knee lift counter to the abdominal area of Sheamus. The two exchange strikes in the middle of the ring and Ziggler is whipped into the corner. Sheamus charges, but Ziggler matadors Sheamus into the ring post. Sheamus recovers and is able to land his signature knee lift. Ziggler on the apron and Sheamus obliges him with clubbing forearms to the chest. Ziggler on the outside and Sheamus plants him with a battering ram from the apron.
Back and forth offense from both men. Sheamus tries a battering ram to the inside, but Ziggler leapfrogs and treats Sheamus to a facebuster. Ziggler only gets a nearfall and the two exchange blows in the middle of the squared circle. Sheamus lands an Irish Curse backbreaker for yet another nearfall. Sheamus goes for White Noise and Ziggler rolls through. Sheamus grabs the Texas Cloverleaf on Ziggler, who quickly finds the bottom rope to break the hold. Ziggler on the apron with a hangman's neckbreaker. Ziggler up top with a missile dropkick for another nearfall.
Both men down and out on the canvas. Ziggler tries to charge a cornered Sheamus, but Sheamus with a kick to the knee of Ziggler. Sheamus heads upstairs, but Ziggler is able to meet him and put him down with a DDT for a nearfall. Both men again down and Sheamus hits a slam. Battering ram by Sheamus up top almost secures the victory. Sheamus wants a Brogue Kick, but Ziggler ducks under for a Superkick. Ziggler can't land and Sheamus cleans his clock with a Brogue Kick that sends Ziggler to the arena floor. Sheamus trying to bring Ziggler inside, but Big E deters him from doing so. The referee nearing the end of his ten count and Sheamus is able to roll back in.
Winner by countout: Sheamus
Big E Langston wants a piece of Sheamus after the match, but decides to back down.

Match Two: Wade Barrett vs. Zack Ryder
Barrett using submissions to control Ryder in the beginning. Barrett backs Ryder into the corner and unleashes three elbow strikes. Ryder gains control with an elbow and an arm drag. Ryder is put down by the strikes of Barrett. Side kick to the stomach of Ryder and Barrett gets a nearfall. Barrett pressing Ryder into the corner and wearing him down. Ryder fights out and lands a flapjack. Front headlock in place for Zack Ryder. European uppercut from Barrett turns the tide. Ryder sent into the corner and onto the apron. Barrett with a reverse hangman's neckbreaker that introduces Ryder to the arena floor.
Barrett hooks the leg once again for the nearfall. Another pin attempt by Barrett after an elbow drop from the top rope. Barrett working the side headlock. Ryder lands a facebuster to regain some momentum. Elbow from Ryder and he heads up top for a missile dropkick. Forearm splash in the corner puts Barrett down for a Broski Boot attempt. Barrett moves outside and forces Ryder to chase him. Barrett gets a Winds of Change for another nearfall. Ryder takes control and lands a Broski Boot. Ryder tries his finisher, but Barrett gets snake eyes in the corner. Bull Hammer turns Ryder's lights out.
Winner by pinfall: Wade Barrett
