WWE Main Event: Battle royal determines top contender
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE Main Event: You can tell it's a long week for the company when a battle royal is the best they can come up with for this show. The winner of the big battle becomes the No. 1 contender for the United States Championship and will face Antonio Cesaro right here next week. Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from Rochester, NY. Michael Cole and The Miz are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

20-Man Battle Royal to Determine the No. 1 Contender for the WWE United States Championship

Yoshi Tatsu gets thrown out almost immediately. Looks like William Regal is involved, 3MB is in there, along with the Rhodes Scholars, the Prime Time Players, Brodus Clay, The Great Khali and more.

Tyson Kidd throws out Drew McIntyre, then Kidd gets tangled up with Jinder Mahal on the apron. McIntyre comes up from behind and pulls Kidd to the floor and Justin Gabriel and Mahal take each other out.

Hey, look, Ted DiBiase is in this battle royal, too. Now we get the generic battle royal big man spot between Clay and Khali. They go after it and Khali gets the better of it, eliminating Clay. Well, Clay looks pretty dumb now after challenging Khali to get after it.

The Prime Time Players try to gang on Khali to eliminate him but that doesn't go so well when Khali just swats O'Neil over the top, then Young and then he single-handily eliminates Rhodes Scholars. We're down to the final four of Khali, Wade Barrett, Santino Marella and Zack Ryder.

Hip-toss/headbutt combo lands for Santino on Barrett. He pulls out the Cobra and connects on Barrett. Then Ryder goes for the Broski Boot, hits it and Santino eliminates him right after. As Ryder and Santino argue, Barrett eliminates Santino.

We're down to Barrett and Khali now. The winner will face Antonio Cesaro for the United States Championship next week, right here on Main Event. Barrett lands a big boot. But Khali fires up, tosses Barrett to the apron and then chops him off it to win.

Winner: The Great Khali

Cesaro gets in the ring and offers his hand to Khali. Khali shakes it, Cesaro pulls away and takes off.

Match #2 - Drew McIntyre (Ayr, Tennessee) & Jinder Mahal (Nashville, India) vs. Tyson Kidd (Calgary, Alberta) & Justin Gabriel (Cape Town, South Africa)

Mahal getting frustrated when he can't put Gabriel away. He wants a full nelson, but Gabriel elbows out of it and hits a slam that McIntyre needs to break up the pinfall for. McIntyre gets thrown over the top by Gabriel and runs right into a kick from Kidd. Gabriel tags in Kidd and then hit a double-team blockbuster that ends the match.

Winners via pinfall: Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel
