Impact: Drama, drama, drama
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Impact Wrestling: This show definitely doesn't save the drama for their mama. The Bully Ray-Hulk Hogan-Brooke Hogan-Austin Aries saga rolls on, which Aries getting in some pretty gnarly lines in the process. And of all things, Hogan chooses Aries to face Rob Van Dam for the X Division title in the main event. Should be a good one!

Tonight's show emanates LIVE! from the Impact Zone in Orlando. Todd Keneley, "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Hulk Hogan is out to start the show. He tells us his role as the general manager and a father collided last week with his daughter Brooke and Bully Ray. He tells Bully Ray to come to the ring and tell him what's going on, brother.

Ray says Hogan hasn't trusted him since day 1. Hogan wants to know what's going on. Ray asks him if he really wants to know the answers about who the No. 1 man in his daughter's life is. This brings Brooke to the ring.

Hogan asks her the same question. She says she's not 18 anymore and he says he doesn't care. Hogan says as long as he's on the face of this Earth, he doesn't want to see her with another wrestler.

This brings Austin Aries up on the screen from Hogan's office talking about how it's Championship Thursday and instead of figuring out who's going to challenge for the X Division Championship, Hogan's out there. So Aries says he's going to lay on Hogan's desk until he comes back there. That quickly ends when he decides it's too uncomfortable, but decides to ask Brooke how she managed. OH SNAP.

The Impact Zone gasps at this line as Hogan takes off to the back.

James now with some clotheslines and a dropkick of her own. James counters Kim and hits a neckbreaker for two. James goes for the DDT but Kim escapes. Kim charges into the corner but James sidesteps, grabs her and hits the tornado DDT and that does it.

Hogan storms into his office and gives Aries a verbal lashing. Hogan's not happy with Kenny King laughing it up with Aries. King defends himself but is sent packing by Hogan.

Bobby Roode is out. He says he made a statement last week and will regain the World Heavyweight Championship at the pay-per-view. He makes fun of Hardy for nearing losing to a Gut Check rookie and says if you want to make an impression, you call him out.

This brings Christian York out to the ring. Roode says he knows York is new here, but he needs to take himself to the back. York slaps him and grabs the mic and says he just called Roode out. It looks like the two might battle.

Match #2 - Bobby Roode (Toronto, Ontario) vs. Christian York (Fairfax, Va.)

We are underway and York is running wild on Roode. Roode takes a walk but York grabs him and throws him into the steel ring steps. York goes to the top but Roode shoves the referee into the ropes and that crotches York. This allows Roode to take over.

Roode with a suplex and he goes to the middle rope. He comes down right into a boot from York. York hits a clothesline and then a dropkick. He drops Roode flat on his face and goes to the top again but Roode briefly cuts him off, but York hits a double stomp and then a barrel roll into the corner and Roode barely kicks out in the nick of time.

York wants his finisher but Roode counters into the Perfect Plex, but he can't get York up and York counters into a small package for a real close near fall. York, though, gets caught up with the referee and Roode clobbers him from behind. He follows that with the crossface and York, in the middle of the ring, has no choice but to tap.

Storm in and he gets taken over, but when the heels do the Gangnam Styles dance, Storm gets a chance to bring in Styles and he comes in on fire. He hits the springboard forearm on Daniels and then wants to hit a slingshot crossbody onto Kazarian on the outside, but Kazarian saw him coming a mile away and steps aside and Styles goes splat.

They gets Styles back in the ring and hit a double team that Styles barely kicks out of. Styles is able to kick Daniels and Storm pulls Kazarian out and throws him into the steps. Storm tags himself in unbeknownst to everyone. Daniels wants the Angel's Wings after Styles misses the Pele, so Storm comes in and drills Daniels with the Last Call Superkick and that's it.

Al Snow is still nowhere to be found, and it's time for Gut Check, so D-Lo Brown will be standing in for Snow. Bruce Prichard says yes. Taz says Brisco wasn't impressive enough last week, so it's a no. So it comes down to Brown. He hems and haws about it but finally tells an emotional Brisco yes.

Match #5 - TNA X Division Championship - (c) Rob Van Dam (Battle Creek, Mich.) vs. Austin Aries (Minneapolis, Minn.)

They battle on the outside and RVD drops Aries on the guard rail and goes for a spinning leg drop from the apron but Aries moves and RVD bites it. Back in the ring, Aries hits a DDT and then mocks RVD's Rolling Thunder, except he hits a splash instead. He goes to the top for a Frog Splash but RVD moves.

Thrust kick connects for RVD. And one in the corner, too. RVD follows that with Rolling Thunder and a split-legged moonsault, but Aries gets his foot on the bottom rope to break the count.

They trade counters and Aries hits a roaring elbow. RVD fires back and goes to the top but Aries shoves him off the top and into the guard rail. Aries throws RVD back in the ring and then goes and grabs a mic and starts running RVD down. He also makes a joke that RVD looks a lot like Brooke Hogan in the position he's in. Bully Ray runs down and attacks Aries and that's it.

Winner via disqualification: Austin Aries

Hulk Hogan comes out on the ramp and he and Ray stare at each other.
