WWE NXT: Bryan, Kane defend tag titles
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE NXT: Another championship is on the line this week as the WWE Tag Team Champions make the NXT debut as Team Hell No, Daniel Bryan and Kane, bring their talents to the NXT Arena to defend their titles against Michael McGillicutty and Johnny Curtis. Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from Orlando, Fla. Tom Phillips and Jim Ross are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

The tag team champions are here and are arguing backstage (at a place that is clearly not the NXT Arena). There's a great jump cut in here and Daniel Bryan reads a list of demands off, including no one says yes or calls him a goat face.

Match #1 - Trent Barreta (Mount Sinai, NY) vs. Leo Kruger (Johannesburg, South Africa)

Barreta's ribs are still hurting from being attacked last week and Kruger goes right after them. This one is all Kruger, and he puts the wounded Barreta away with the Kruger End.

Winner via pinfall: Leo Kruger

Match #2 - Xavier Woods (Angel Grove, Calif.) vs. Memo Montenegro (San Luis Potosi, Mexico)

They talk about Montenegro being from a Mexican wrestling dynasty and was probably born with a silver spoon in his mouth, much like Alberto Del Rio, without mentioning that he's actually Del Rio's brother.

Woods with a dropkick and then he hits a somersault into a clothesline and that ends it. OK.

Winner via pinfall: Xavier Woods

Match #3 - Audrey Marie (Houston, Texas) vs. Emma (Melbourne, Austrailia)

This is Emma's debut right here on NXT. Audrey with a body scissors. Emma fires up briefly, but Audrey puts her away with her slam and ends this one over the rookie.

Winner via pinfall: Audrey Marie

"The Voice of WWE" is here. That's right, Michael Cole is back on NXT. He's here tonight to moderate a debate between NXT Champion Seth Rollins and the No. 1 contender Jinder Mahal.

They discuss Mahal attacking Rollins from behind and Rollins saying Mahal can't beat him one-on-one. Mahal says Rollins is just like these people, a born loser. Rollins says he doesn't do this too often, because he doesn't think he's better than people, but he'll make an exception here. Rollins flat out says he's better than Mahal and Mahal will never be a champion because he doesn't have a heart of a champion.

Mahal gets upset at Cole for asking a tough question and talks about the biased American media. Mahal takes this opportunity to cheap shot Rollins and lock in the Camel Clutch for a long period before the referees finally run down to break it up.

Match #4 - WWE Tag Team Championship - (c) Daniel Bryan (Aberdeen, Wash.) & Kane (Hell, Fire & Brimstone) vs. Michael McGillicutty (Champlin, Minn.) & Johnny Curtis (Westbrook, Maine)

This is fun. They try to keep some sense of continuity here, saying Johnny Curtis won a tag team title shot by winning NXT Season 4 that he never received, so he's cashing that in here tonight. That's a good one.

McGillicutty dropkicks Bryan to the outside and Curtis puts the boots to him there. They're calling McGillicutty "Mr. Intensity." I think he and Gunner from TNA should have a match to determine the rights to that nickname. I mean, they both are in Orlando for these shows! I think there's only room in the professional wrestling world right now for one Mr. Intensity.

The challengers take over, isolating Bryan and using quick tags to their advantage. Bryan finally gets the tag to Kane and he starts going to work on McGillicutty. But before he can finish him off, Bryan tags himself in. The ensuing argument sees McGillicutty shove Bryan into Kane. It's a mad scramble now and Curtis runs right into a choke slam and Bryan maneuvers McGillicutty into the No Lock. He fights for a few seconds but has to tap.

Winners via pinfall and STILL WWE Tag Team Champions: Daniel Bryan & Kane
