WWE Main Event: Ziggler, Miz steal the show
MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling
Tonight on WWE Main Event: It's Ego Bowl here today as "Mr. Money in the Bank" Dolph Ziggler takes on former WWE Champion The Miz in the featured bout of the night. What's going to happen when the newly-minted rivals collide? It's a great match, that's for sure. Also, Damien Sandow might've bitten off more than he can chew when he challenges a certain 10-time champion. Should be a good one!
And we are TAPED! from Grand Rapids, Mich. Michael Cole and John "Bradshaw" Layfield are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).
Match #1 - The Miz (Cleveland, Ohio) vs. Dolph Ziggler (Hollywood, Fla.)
The two engage in a spirited promo battle before the match. It ends with Ziggler slapping Miz and a referee magically appears to kick things off.
We're back from break and it's The Miz who is in control, staying on Ziggler. But Ziggler is able to fire back and takes over the match briefly. He hits the jumping elbow and goes to work with a side headlock. But they exchange reversals and Miz sends Ziggler flying into the turnbuckle with a catapult. Miz goes for the backbreaker/neckbreaker combo, but Ziggler counters the neckbreaker and hits a picture perfect dropkick.
This lets Ziggler go back to work with another headlock. Ziggler charges Miz but Miz backdrops him over the top rope and Ziggler goes flying high into the air and crashes hard on the floor.
We're back and Ziggler is in control, courtesy of chucking Miz hard into the barricade during the break. Ziggler lands a series of elbow drops and another jumping elbow for two. Miz, though, hits a drop kick that sends Ziggler into the corner. Miz charges but Ziggler moves and Miz goes into the post.
On the other side of the ring, Ziggler goes to looses the turnbuckle covering but is cut off by the referee. Ziggler back to work with the headstand chinlock that he turns into a rear chinlock. They start trading punches and hit the ropes and level each other as both go for cross bodies.
We're back and Ziggler hits the Fameasser for a two count. Ziggler tries for the sleeper but Miz escapes and drops Ziggler to the canvas. He hits two clotheslines and now he gets the backbreaker/neckbreaker combo but Ziggler kicks out at two. Miz, though, charges right into a boot in the corner. Ziggler wants a cover but puts his legs on the ropes and is caught by the referee. Miz comes back with a Side Effect for a two count.
Ziggler ducks a punch and goes around to lock in the sleeper. Miz drops to his knees but is able to work back to a vertical base. He backs Ziggler into the corner and this gives him enough of an opening to break the hold when Ziggler had to readjust.
Miz hits the corner clothesline and he actually goes to the top rope and hits a double sledge. Miz calls for the Skull-Crushing Finale but Ziggler rolls him through. Miz with a rollup for two. Miz goes to charge but Ziggler moves and Miz runs into the exposed turnbuckle and Ziggler hits the Zig Zag and that does it.
Winner via pinfall: Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler gets the mic after the match and says he is better than anyone in the world and he is just getting started.
Match #2 - Justin Gabriel (Cape Town, South Africa) vs. Wade Barrett (Preston, England)
Gabriel hits a big springboard crossbody for two. Barrett, though, ducks another high-lfying maneuver and hits a Boss Man Slam for two. Gabriel fires back and wants to go to the top for the 450 Splash but Barrett knocks him down and hits the Bullhammer elbow and that does it.
Winner via pinfall: Wade Barrett
Damien Sandow is out. He is here to help all of us. He says he will finally get the chance to rid the WWE of its most offensive delinquent next week right here on Main Event when he faces John Cena. This is fantastic. Right here, next week!
