Impact: Aces & Eights crush Sting again
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Impact Wrestling: It's the final show before Turning Point and we're setting the table for the show with a ton of action to preview it. In a match that should excite all fans, AJ Styles takes on Bobby Roode and Kurt Angle and Sting team to battle members of Aces & Eights, but it doesn't go too well for The Icon. Should be a good one!

Tonight's show emanates LIVE! from the Impact Zone in Orlando. Todd Keneley and Jeremy Borash and later "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Match #1 - AJ Styles (Gainesville, Ga.) vs. Bobby Roode (Toronto, Ontario)

Roode wants to go to the top but Styles cuts him off. Styles goes up and hits a 'rana that sends Roode flying. Styles wants the Styles Clash but Roode drives him into the corner and catches him on the rebound with a big Double R spinebuster. Roode charges Styles but Styles sidesteps him and shoves him face-first into the second turnbuckle. They exchange counters, including Roode ducking the Pele, and Roode goes for the Perfect Plex but Styles kicks out at two.

Roode goes to the outside and grabs a chair, but James Storm comes down from commentary as the referee takes it away. As he turns around, Styles hits a springboard crossbody to the outside that wipes Roode out. Styles throws Roode back in the ring, but Styles gets to chirping with Storm now. He goes to springboard into the ring, but Roode leaps up and hits the ropes and Styles goes splat. Roode jumps on him and makes the cover and gets the win.

Winner via pinfall: Bobby Roode

Joseph Park is in the ring. He says he wants a match with someone from Aces & Eights and there's only one man who can make that happen and that's Hulk Hogan. So Hogan comes out. Hogan tells Park he shouldn't be in the ring because he's not a wrestler. Hogan talks about liability when Bully Ray's music hits and he makes a bee line to the ring.

Ray says he didn't want to come out here, but he knows Hogan was about to tell Park no. And Hogan's been telling him no for the last two months. Ray says he's here to stick up for Park. Ray puts Park over and says the crowd believes in Park. Ray asks Hogan why say no when it feel so good to say yes. So Hogan relents and says just this one time.

Match #2 - ODB (Minneapolis, Minn.) vs. Jessie (Los Angeles, Calif.) & Tara (Louisville, Ky.)

This is just pointless. ODB somehow gets the win.

Winner via pinfall: ODB

Match #3 - Kurt Angle (Pittsburgh, Pa.) & Sting (Venice Beach, Calif.) vs. Devon (New York City) & Doc (Parts Unknown)

Aces & Eights doing a great job of controlling Sting, but he is finally able to make the tag to Angle, who comes in and is taking names. Angle Slam on Devon but Doc breaks it up. Sting puts the Scorpion Deathlock on Doc but Devon has the bat and hits Angle and Sting with it.

Winners via disqualification: Kurt Angle & Sting

Bully Ray hits the ring and clotheslines Devon. He goes under the ring and grabs a table. He sets it up and is about to put Devon through it but Devon is able to bail. Back in the ring, Doc wants to put Sting through but Sting reverses him and is going for a power bomb when other members of the group hit the ring and hit Sting with a hammer. And Angle. So Doc puts him through the table with a choke slam and then blasts him in the chest with the hammer, then in the hand. He is going to town on Sting with the hammer. Now to the other hand. A merciless beatdown. After about a minute, some good guys hit the ring to make the save. Not good for Sting.

It's time for the Gut Check decision with Christian York.

Taz is up first and he says yes "without a doubt." Bruce Prichard is next and I'm pretty sure he's saying no. He says York has been in the business for 16 years and hasn't made it to the big leagues yet, so maybe he doesn't have it. But after discussing it, they think he just needs an opportunity, so his answer is yes.

Match #4 - Magnus (Kingsland, England), Christopher Daniels (Los Angeles, Calif.) & Kazarian (Anaheim, Calif.) vs. Samoa Joe (Isle of Samoa), Chavo Guerrero (El Paso, Texas) & Hernandez (Houston, Texas)

The heels use nefarious means to take control of the match but it breaks down and the faces are able to gain the edge. Hernandez hits a big belly-to-belly on Daniels and Guerrero hits a drop kick for two.

But some more nefarious means on the outside leads to Magnus taking over on Guerrero in the ring. They control Guerrero until Hernandez gets the tag and runs wild. He wants the Border Toss on Kazarian but Daniels breaks it up. Hernandez tags Joe and Kazarian tags Magnus. Joe hits a big scoop slam and the uranage out of the corner but Daniels breaks up the pin. Bodies flying all over the place right now.

Hernandez hits a big dive on Daniels and Guerrero wants to go to the top for the Frog Splash on Magnus but Kazarian breaks it up. Daniels gets involved on Joe and Daniels and Kazarian hit the Total Elimination on Joe and Magnus comes off the top with the flying elbow and that does it.

Winners via pinfall: Magnus, Christopher Daniels & Kazarian

Austin Aries is out. He was told earlier by Hulk Hogan to return the title belt or forfeit his title shot at Turning Point. Aries first addresses Hardy's success in ladder matches throughout his career. But he says Hardy will not get up from the fall he takes at Turning Point. And he says if Hardy wants the belt back, he's going to have to come down and take it from him. So Hardy comes out.

Hardy comes down the ramp, they brawl briefly and Aries exits. Hardy starts to celebrate on the ladder when Aries comes back and knocks the ladder right out from under him. Aries puts the ladder over Hardy and climbs it and grabs the belts.
