Impact: Final four determined for BFG Series
MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling
Tonight on Impact Wrestling: It's go time for the Bound For Glory Series, as the three-month long tournament's final four will be determined. James Storm and Samoa Joe are in, but Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam and Bully Ray are fighting for spots. Who advances to No Surrender on Sunday? Should be a good one!
Tonight's show emanates LIVE! from the Impact Zone in Orlando. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.
Match #1 - Bound For Glory Series - Jeff Hardy (Cameron, NC) vs. Samoa Joe (Isle of Samoa)
Hardy needs a win here to make it to the final four while a Joe win means he enters as the No. 1 seed and gets to pick his opponent.
The action spills to the outside. Hardy pulls the steps away from the ring post and comes flying over them, using them to step on and wipe out Joe, who was on the barricade. Wow.
Joe takes control, though, back in the ring and is using his size to wear down and ground Hardy, but Hardy is kicking out. Hardy, though, fires up and this is a back-and-forth affair with both men giving and taking each other's best shots. Hardy wants a Twist of Fate but Joe slips out and briefly locks in a standing choke, but Hardy breaks it. He hits Whisper in the Wind and comes down right on Joe's arm, which he was working on earlier. Hardy staggers Joe with the Twist of Fate and then locks in a side choke/armbar combo and Joe taps!
Winner via submission (10 points): Jeff Hardy
Christy Hemme is trying to talk to Samoa Joe when Magnus comes out and cuts them off. He said he wants to explain himself, saying he lost his temper a few weeks back when he attacked Joe. He gives an explanation, takes off but then comes right back and hits Joe from behind.
Hulk Hogan is backstage with four tag teams to see who will get a title shot at Christopher Daniels and Kazarian tonight. He eliminates AJ Styles, who hadn't even declared a partner yet.
HoganMania rolls on as Brooke Hogan is talking to Tara and awards her a Knockouts Title shot at No Surrender against Miss Tessmacher.
Match #2 - Gail Kim (Toronto, Ontario) vs. Tara (Louisville, Ky.)
Another back-and-forth affair but Tara gets the upper edge with a big slam. She goes to work with slaps and clotheslines and a delayed vertical suplex for two. Kim, though, grabs ahold of Tara and slams her into the turnbuckle. Kim goes to the top but Tara cuts her off, grabs her and hits the Widow's Peak and that does it.
Winner via pinfall: Tara
Al Snow is in the ring and calls out Joey Ryan, who has become quite the problem during the Gut Check segments the last few months. He has a bull horn and hops over the rail and into the ring. Snow says he's going to give Ryan one more opportunity to go through Gut Check again. This time there will be no judges, no nothing. He wins and he's in. Ryan says 87 percent of the vote said he should be in. Ryan is still defiant. Snow says he's not giving Ryan anything, that he has to earn it. Ryan says he has the confidence and the ability, so he accepts. Then Snow says Ryan will have to beat him to get the contract.
Ryan says this isn't the 90s and no one wants to see him in spandex. Snow says he'll beat Ryan in jeans and then slaps him. Ryan bails.
Hogan eliminates Kid Kash and Gunner from contention for the tag title shot.
Match #3 - Bound For Glory Series - Bully Ray (New York City) vs. Rob Van Dam (Battle Creek, Mich.)
RVD hits a big flip dive onto Bully, something you don't see everyday. Back in the ring, Ray crotches RVD on the top rope in a desperation move and RVD gets hung up in the rope and Ray goes to work on RVD's left leg. Ray goes to work and gets admonished by Earl Hebner, which allows RVD to hit a big spin kick. They go back-and-forth and Ray hits a big boot but RVD kicks out.
RVD with a thrust kick off the middle rope and he goes to the top and comes down right into the Bubba Cutter and that's it.
Winner via pinfall (7 points): Bully Ray
Your BFG Series Final Four is James Storm, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray.
James Storm is here to announce who he'll face at No Surrender by virtue of being the top point-getter. He chooses to face Bully Ray, meaning Samoa Joe will face Jeff Hardy in the other semifinal.
Match #4 - TNA World Tag Team Championship - © Christopher Daniels (Los Angeles, Calif.) & Kazarian (Anaheim, Calif.) vs. Chavo Guerrero (El Paso, Texas) & Hernandez (Houston, Texas)
The challengers are rolling early behind the power game of Hernandez. During a commercial break, the champs gain control on Guerrero but Hernandez gets the tag and hits a sit-out power bomb on Kazarian for two when Daniels breaks it up.
Referee doing nothing to quell a double team by Daniels and Kazarian, but now Guerrero comes in after Daniels was dispatched of and 'rana's his own partner off the top and onto Kazarian but Daniels breaks up what was a sure pinfall by stopping the referee's count. Match is breaking down and Hernandez hits a huge over-the-top rope dive onto both Daniels and Kazarian. The challengers team up on Kazarian but Daniels sends Guerrero flying over the top and then hits Hernandez in the gut with the title as the referee takes care of the other and Kazarian pins Hernandez and that's it.
Winners via pinfall and STILL TNA World Tag Team Champions: Christopher Daniels & Kazarian
The fun lasts about five seconds before Hulk Hogan's music hits. He saw what just happened and says it stands, but he's got a guy in the back, AJ Styles, who says he can beat both Daniels and Kazarian by himself. But in lieu of that, Hogan books the champs to defend against Styles and Kurt Angle at No Surrender. That should be great.
Austin Aries comes to the ring with the guy who attacked him last week. They're looking for a trade. The big guy comes out, hits his own guy with a hammer and brawls with Aries. They'll square off Sunday.
