Smackdown: Y2J is back, Del Rio gets revenge on Sheamus
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE Friday Night Smackdown: After having his $200,000 car wrecked by Sheamus on Raw, Alberto Del Rio was out for revenge. After threatening police action, Del Rio instead accepted his title match tonight, but it was a big ruse against the champ. Elsewhere, Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel returned, as did the old Y2J. Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from Houston, Texas. Josh Mathews and Michael Cole are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG, V)

The GM is here. Booker T is out to start the program. He says on Raw, despite getting a good laugh out of it, Sheamus crossed the line. So he's asked Sheamus to come out and apologize to Alberto Del Rio. Sheamus comes out and talks about what a great time he had and then apologizes to Del Rio for taking his car. Booker T accepts this and is ready to move on to the show when Del Rio comes storming out.

He says they aren't moving on yet. He says Sheamus is a thief, a thug, a criminal. He says he's filed a police report against Sheamus. Booker jumps in and says if a police report is filed, the title can't be defended. Del Rio says he doesn't care and says Booker better do something and do it now. Sheamus says he's been thinking about this and has a solution: Let's not wait until SummerSlam. He suggests they have their title match tonight. Del Rio says everything says he should wait, but to hell with everything. Let's do it.

Match #1 - Sin Cara (Mexico City, Mexico) vs. Cody Rhodes (Marietta, Ga.)

Rhodes grounds the high-flier early. But Sin Cara fires up and hits an armdrag and a springboard crossbody for two. Rhodes tries to go after Sin Cara's mask, but in the process, Sin Cara rolls him up and gets the duke.

Winner via pinfall: Sin Cara

Daniel Bryan is out and freaking out about people chanting yes. He talks about how AJ has ruined his life and has put him in a SummerSlam match with Kane. He starts going off on AJ and Kane when Kane's pyro blows and he makes his way to the ring. Before anything can happen, AJ comes out. I guess GM's are now appearing on both shows, too.

She says they can't be attacking the audience or attacking each other each week. AJ says Bryan needs to prove to everyone that he doesn't have anger management issues and he can do that starting tonight by shaking Kane's hand. Bryan reluctantly offers his hand and Kane delivers an uppercut. They start brawling and Bryan eats a big boot and bails.

Match #2 - Handicap Match - Jinder Mahal (Punjab, India) vs. Two Jobbers

Mahal going into the Ryback playbook here and quickly wins it with the Camel Clutch.

Winner via submission: Jinder Mahal

Mahal continues the beatdown after the match but takes off once Ryback hits the ring. And once there, Ryback destroys the jobbers as well.

Chris Jericho is here for The Highlight Reel. He barely gets more than five words out before Vickie Guerrero excuses herself into the conversation and says that since she represents Dolph Ziggler, she's here to speak on his behalf tonight. They start arguing and such. Jericho shows Ziggler losing to Alex Riley on Raw. Guerrero says Ziggler's going to prove that Jericho doesn't have it anymore at SummerSlam.

Jericho says maybe it's time to bring back Y2J and officially declares that Y2J is back, baby. As Jericho hits the catchphrases, Ziggler tries to come attack him from behind but Jericho fights him off. Guerrero slaps Jericho, which allows Ziggler to recover and come up from behind and hit the Zig Zag. Ziggler lines Jericho up and blasts him with the briefcase.

Match #4 - Antonio Cesaro (Lucerne, Switzerland) vs. Christian (Toronto, Ontario)

A nice back-and-forth match until Christian counters the Neutralizer and hits the Killswitch. He goes for a spear but Cesaro sends him into orbit with the Very European Uppercut. He goes for the Neutralizer again but Christian escapes and hits the spear and gets the pin. Very nice match.

Cesaro lays Christian out after the match.

Miz in total control of this one but Mysterio lands a kick only to run into a big boot from Miz. Mysterio kicks out at two. Miz wants a kick, but Mysterio counters and wants the 619, but Miz has a counter of his own. He grabs Mysterio and goes for the Skull-Crushing Finale but Mysterio turns it into a O'Connor Roll and gets the win.

Winner via pinfall: Rey Mysterio

Match #6 - World Heavyweight Championship - (c) Sheamus (Dublin, Ireland) vs. Alberto Del Rio (San Luis Potosi, Mexico)

As the match is about to begin, the police come down to the ring. Del Rio freaks out, saying he never filed the report and he wants his title match tonight. Del Rio says "go!" and the cops try to attack Sheamus. He fights them off and goes after Del Rio, but the cops recover and the numbers game takes over and they beat Sheamus down in the corner.

Del Rio instructs them to pick Sheamus up and he slaps him and then lays him out. He follows with the cross-armbreaker.
