Impact: BFG Series heats up show but Aces & Eights strike again
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Impact Wrestling: Two big matches in the Bound For Glory Series are on tap tonight as AJ Styles takes on James Storm and in the main event, Bully Ray faces Kurt Angle. But in the overarching theme of the show lately, Aces and Eights rears their ugly head into many matters once again. Should be a good one!

Tonight's show emanates LIVE! from the Impact Zone in Orlando. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Well, my DVR had some issues and caused me to miss the opening segment. As best I can tell, Sting was named the interim GM while Hulk Hogan recovers and Bobby Roode accused James Storm of being the force behind Aces and Eights.

Roode is backstage complaining that James Storm is behind Aces and Eights. He knows it for a fact. He knows what makes Storm tick. The truth will come out, Roode says, as he, ahem, storms out of the building.

Match #1 - Gail Kim (Toronto, Ontario) & Madison Rayne (Seattle, Wash.) vs. Mickie James (Richmond, Va.) & Tara (Louisville, Ky.)

James finally gets the hot tag to Tara and she comes in on Rayne and runs wild. Series of clotheslines connect and then a tilt-a-whirl sidewalk slam. As she covers, Kim breaks it up. Then James and Tara combine for a double Boston crab on Rayne. Kim breaks it up only to find herself in the same old. Then Rayne starts getting fresh with Earl Hebner and he tries to get things in order. James goes for a cover on Rayne where her shoulders are down as well. She emphatically raises one at the count of two and Hebner counts the pin, only to raise Rayne's hand.

Winners via pinfall: Madison Rayne & Gail Kim

Match #2 - Gut Check - Sam Shaw (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) vs. Douglas Williams (The United Kingdom)

Shaw using his athleticism early on and is getting the better of the long-time veteran but gets distracted by Joey Ryan and a bunch of "87%" signs in the crowd. Ryan sucker punches Al Snow and runs. in the meantime, Williams gets the advantage and goes to work on Shaw.

Williams slaps Shaw and hits the rolling Chaos Theory suplex and that does it.

Winner via pinfall: Douglas Williams

Chavo Guerrero is here. TNA's newest signing has a mic and the crowd is chanting his name. He says one thing the Guerrero family has always done is to be a champion on every continent and every company they've ever been in, except for one: TNA. He says he looks in the eyes of the wrestlers in the back and he sees hunger. He puts over the roster, but says he's here to beat the best.

He says the Guerreros have always had great timing, so look at your calendars and remember this date, because it's time, it's Guerrero Time. It's time for Chavo Guerrero to be a champion here in Impact Wrestling.

Out comes Kid Kash and Gunner. Kash is running him down and asking where all the Guerrero family members are right now. Kash finally says the magic words, calling Guerrero's dad a drunk, and Guerrero goes after him. They get the best of it with the numbers edge when Hernandez comes out to make the save and they clean house together.

It's time for the Gut Check evaluation. Al Snow is flipping out about Joey Ryan. Bruce Prichard and Taz give their thoughts on Sam Shaw. They'll come out in a little bit to make their decision.

Match #3 - Bound For Glory Series - AJ Styles (Gainesville, Ga.) vs. James Storm (Leiper's Fork, Tenn.)

Styles takes control after a brief back-and-forth period to start. Storm, though, takes over and hits the Eye of the Storm but Styles kicks out at the last moment. Storm chucks Styles into the corner and goes up and sits on the top turnbuckle behind him. Styles fights that off, but Storm comes down and goes for a DDT but Styles hits him with a release Northern Lights suplex right into the corner but Storm somehow kicks out.

Styles goes to the apron and hits the springboard forearm as Storm gets up but Storm again kicks out at two. Styles wants the Clash but Storm counters and dumps Styles. Some back-and-forth action and Styles hits a big kick to the head out of nowhere. Storm reeling, but Styles right right into the Codebreaker. He wants the Last Call but Styles side steps it and hits the Pele. But before he can do anything, Aces and Eights hits the ring and lays Styles out.

The match was ruled a no contest, we're told, with each man earning two points.

They catch up with Storm backstage and they note Aces and Eights attacked everyone out there but Storm. Storm says he doesn't need anyone to whoop a man, so make sure you know the truth before you accuse him again.

It's time for Sam Shaw's Gut Check evaluation. We go first to Al Snow. He says because of some jackass, he didn't get to see much of Shaw tonight. He'd love to stick it to Joey Ryan by saying yes, but he has to say no. Bruce Prichard is next. He says Shaw did a hell of a job and his answer is yes. So it comes down to Taz.

But first, Shaw gets to talk and he goes back to talking about Taz when he was trying to make the big leagues. Taz wastes no time in giving the nod to Shaw. He gets a contract.

Match #4 - TNA X Division Championship - (c) Zema Ion (The Philippines) vs. Kenny King (Las Vegas, Nev.)

Hot, high-flying start to this one. King hits a big springboard into the ring while Ion responds with a flip dive over the top rope to the floor that allows him to take over. King, though, floats over in the corner into a sunset flip for two, but Ion comes right back and drops King for a two count. King starts to get going, though, and drills Ion with a kick to the back of the head.

King with a T-bone that Taz likes. Ion ends up on the apron and King delivers a kick that sends Ion to the floor and follows with a spinning flip dive. He throws Ion back in the ring, but right by his hair spray, which Ion grabs. The referee sees this and gives Ion the business. As King goes to get back in the ring, he's pulled off the apron by Bobby Roode, who sends King into the post and puts him back in the ring. Ion hits a springboard moonsault and that does it.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA X Division Champion: Zema Ion

As Roode is gloating about taking opportunities away on the ramp, Austin Aries comes from behind and attacks him.

Match #5 - Bound For Glory Series - Bully Ray (New York City) vs. Kurt Angle (Pittsburgh, Pa.)

Bully Ray goes to work on Angle's neck and that becomes a major focus for him. He hits a neckbreaker and elbows to the neck, but Angle is able to respond with a clothesline that stops Ray in his tracks. He hits a running forearm but runs right into a big boot. That doesn't deter Angle, though, as he hits a belly-to-belly suplex. He wants the Angle Slam but Ray slips out and hits the Bully Bomb but Angle kicks out at two.

Angle responds by hit the triple Germans and pulling the straps down. He applies the ankle lock and Ray is in the centre of the ring, but Ray is able to use those world-famous calves to help roll through the break the hold. They exchange chops but Ray grabs Angle and hits a uranage for two. Angle comes back and hits the Angle Slam but Ray kicks out at two.

Angle goes to the top and wants the moonsault but Ray rolls out of the way and Angle crashes and burns. Ray back up and stalking Angle and hits a big boot for two. Ray misses a corner charge and Angle catches him coming out with an Angle Slam and that does it.

Winner via pinfall (7 points): Kurt Angle

Before Angle can even get up, he's attacked by Aces and Eights. Finally some people come to make the save. It's Aries, Styles and Sting. They are quickly overwhelmed, though, by the numbers game when Storm's music hits and he hits the ring. As he comes down, they all back off and bail out of the ring.

This only increases the speculation that they are aligned with Storm and Aries and Angle get in his face about it.
