Impact: Hogan, Sting under attack
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Impact Wrestling: It's been about a month since the mystery group attacked Sting. Now dubbed "Aces and Eights," the group has swelled even more and made a statement by taking out both Hulk Hogan and the returning Sting. Elsewhere, Bully Ray and Joseph Park meet in an Anything Goes match and Bobby Roode loses his mind as Austin Aries celebrates his title win. Should be a good one!

Tonight's show emanates LIVE! from the Impact Zone in Orlando. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Match #1 - Anything Goes - Bully Ray (New York City) vs. Joseph Park (Chicago, Ill.)

Park lines up like he's doing a Duchess of Queensbury rules boxing match. Ray spits in Park's face and Park starts firing up, only he turns his back on Ray. Ray kicks him in the face and then pulls out his phone and tweets. "He's had Twitter for a week and thinks he invented it," Taz says.

Ray goes under the ring and pulls out some plunder. A whole lot of plunder. Ray grabs a chair but Park with a double leg and some punches from the guard. He grabs a chair and Ray begs off, but Park takes too much time and gets knocked down. Ray hits him in the back with a sign and then a trash can lid. Ray goes for a move but Park moves. He pulls himself up, lands some punches and then two shoulder tackles. He comes back for more but Ray hits him with a big boot.

Ray goes under the ring and grabs a bag. Of course, it is full of thumb tacks. He dumps them down and then gets a mic. He says he's going to do to Park what he should've done to Park's brother a long time ago. Ray grabs a kendo stick, but Park responds with a cheese grater to the yam-bag region. He hits Ray with the stick and goes for the cover but Ray kicks out. Ray responds with a clothesline and wants to put Park into the tacks, but Park actually counters him with a slam into the tacks. He goes for the cover but Ray kicks out. Ray scurries to the corner and grabs his chain, hits Park with it and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: Bully Ray

Park is busted open and is shocked at the sight of his own blood. He starts looking at his blood-covered hands and starts freaking out. Ray charges him with a kendo stick but Park hits him with a Black Hole Slam. Crowd starts chanting "that was you!" and Park shakes his head no.

Ray is backstage being asked about what just happened. He asks "who was that?" He says he beat Joseph Park, but who was that? He's a little bit concerned, it would seem.

Match #2 - Bound For Glory Series - Samoa Joe (Isle of Samoa) vs. Rob Van Dam (Battle Creek, Mich.)

Joe with a clothesline that makes RVD go think things outside the ring. Back in the ring, Joe grabs a kneebar but RVD gets to the ropes. RVD starts to get going. He hits a high kick and then gets Joe off his feet and hits Rolling Thunder as Joe tried to sit up. Joe barely kicks out. RVD rolls into the corner and wants the monkey flip, but Joe grabs him and hits a gut-buster. He locks in a modified Figure Four with a heel hook. He lets it go and wants to reapply it and RVD small packages him and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall (7 points): Rob Van Dam

Christopher Daniels and Kazarian are out. Kazarian congratulates Styles on his hard-fought victory, but Styles has only heard one verse, so this is just the beginning. Daniels gets the mic and calls what Styles did at Destination X reprehensible, as Styles will do anything to keep the truth hidden. He asks Claire Lynch, seen entering the area earlier in her car smoking a cigarette while pregnant, to come down to the ring. She comes down and Kazarian, gentleman that he is, helps her into the ring.

Daniels says he knows Lynch hit rock bottom and was looking for any hand to help her out of that. Styles comes out. He says this "story" was over weeks ago. Daniels says there's a part of this story Styles doesn't know, and Lynch has told him something and addicts need to come clean in the end. He urges her to tell Styles. Daniels and Styles start arguing. Styles says this has nothing to do with her, but she says it has everything to do with her because Styles is the father of her baby.

They track Styles down backstage. He yells at the interviewer that he doesn't know then he takes off.

Match #3 - Dakota Darsow (Minneapolis, Minn.) vs. Zema Ion (The Philippines)

Darsow is fighting for his good friend Jesse Sorensen here, apparently. He's all over Ion to start. Ion starts to take a walk. Darsow hits him from behind and puts the boots to him. He throws Ion back in the ring and comes in, but Ion hits him. But Darsow comes right back with a spear through the ropes. He pulls Ion from the apron up by his hair, but Ion snaps his neck and hits a tornado DDT. Ion then plants Darsow with what can best be described as a release Widow's Peak.

Winner via pinfall: Zema Ion

After the match, Ion attacks Darsow's arm. He gets the mic and says if any of Sorensen's other friends want some, be warned.

The champ is here. The new TNA World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries is here. He says he woke up saying it was a great day to be great and a great day to be the World Heavyweight Champion. He said he proved nothing was impossible, but this wasn't just a great moment for him or Impact Wrestling, but it was for the professional wrestling industry. The crowd is making a ton of noise here that Aries actually has to shush them.

He talks about how he feels like he's the man to lead TNA and pro wrestling into the next boom period. He says his win at Destination X was huge. He talks about all the calls and texts he got from Hollywood and other wrestlers and says the TNA World Heavyweight Championship is the best championship in the wrestling world because he is the greatest pro wrestler and TNA is the best promotion going.

Before he can go any further, Bobby Roode's music hits and the former champ is not happy. Walking out in almost a haze. Crowd chants "loser" at Roode. That's good. Roode gets in the ring and looks like he wants to fight, but Aries just holds the belt into his face.

Roode gets a mic and is seething. He finally gets words out but can't complete his sentence. He takes off his suit jacket. Oh my God this is awesome. He cannot even get out a coherent thought. He finally gets out his one word and that is fluke. Then he takes off. Aries says he's got three words for Roode: "New world champ." That does not make Roode happy.

Sting is backstage with Hulk Hogan, talking about Aces and Eights. He says it's about time they go old school. Devon and Garett Bischoff enter and tell Hogan and Sting that they've got their back no matter what, they just have to ask. Hogan thanks them but says this one is theirs.

Match #4 - TNA Knockouts Championship - (c) Miss Tessmacher (Houston, Texas) vs. Gail Kim (Toronto, Ontario)

Kim in control. Tessmacher starts to fire up and hits a jumping clothesline. Tessmacher follows with her finish but Kim gets her hand on the bottom rope. Tessmacher charges but eats turnbuckle. Kim rolls her up but Tessmacher kicks out at two. Kim loads Tessmacher up on the top turnbuckle and they slug it out up there. Kim wants Eat Defeat from up there but Tessmacher hangs on and Kim goes flying. Tessmacher stands and hits a flying elbow and that's it.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA Knockouts Champion: Miss Tessmacher

Match #5 - Bound For Glory Series - Mr. Anderson (Green Bay, Wisc.) vs. Kurt Angle (Pittsburgh, Pa.)

Competitive match to start but Angle is able to hit the triple Germans despite Anderson trying his best to thwart it. Anderson, though, fires right back with the Plunge for a two count. Anderson wants a Mic Check but Angle trips Anderson. Anderson runs chest-first into the turnbuckle and Angle catches him on the rebound with an Angle Slam but Anderson kicks out at two.

Angle pulls the straps down and wants the ankle lock and he applies it. Anderson is in it for a long time and is nearing the ropes but Angle pulls him back, but Anderson rolls through. He hits the Mic Check but Angle is able to kick out at the final moment. Anderson wants it again but Angle counters into the Angle Slam and that's it.

Winner via pinfall (7 points): Kurt Angle

Bobby Roode meets with Hulk Hogan backstage and Hogan says Roode can have his rematch at Hardcore Justice. But Roode wants it sooner. Hogan suggests Roode can have a non-title match at Open Fight Night next week and Roode says he will prove it was a fluke.

"The Insane Icon" is back. Sting is here. He asks Hulk Hogan to join him in the ring. Hogan's music plays but no one is coming out. The music stops. Sting asks again and the music hits again. It stops again. Still no Hulkster. His music starts for a third time but it stops abruptly. We go backstage and Hogan is down and bloodied and Brooke Hogan is chasing off Aces and Eights. Hogan talks about his leg. Sting starts to go to the back but he is attacked from behind by an even bigger group than attacked him a month ago.
