Impact: Roode retains, Sting laid out
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Impact Wrestling: The Bound For Glory Series begins as three titles are on the line, including Bobby Roode defending the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Mr. Anderson. But in the final segment of the show, as Sting is out to address the crowd, he is attacked and laid out by three mystery men. Should be a good one!

Tonight's show emanates LIVE! from the Impact Zone in Orlando. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Match #1 - Ultimate X Match for the TNA X Division Championship - (c) Austin Aries (Minneapolis, Minn.) vs. Chris Sabin (Detroit, Mich.) vs. Zema Ion (The Philippines)

Aries rams Sabin like a battering ram into the top turnbuckle on two sides and then uses an airplane spin on him. He doesn't fare much better from it, either. Aries kicks Ion off the ramp and then dumps Sabin over the top rope. He sees it, hits the ropes and comes through and crushes both of them with the suicide dive. Aries heads back into the ring and climbs for the belt and is almost there before Ion cuts him off.

Ion gets his boot up on the charging Aries and goes to the top. He's indecisive, though. Aries comes up and pushes him off and slides him down the truss. Aries turns himself around and wants to climb but Ion grabs him. Aries wraps his legs around him and hits a top rope 'rana. Corner dropkick connects and then a brainbuster on Ion. Aries climbs and secures his feet around the cables so no one can pull him down. He gets the belt.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA X Division Champion: Austin Aries

Aries grabs the mic and says he came to TNA less than a year ago and made some hefty claims, like he was pound-for-pound best in pro wrestling and the greatest man to ever live. He says whatever they put on his tee, he knocked out of the park. No matter what match he is, he's always the main event. He says he's not satisfied with the X Division title, or things moving at a snail's pace. He's not here to earn respect, he's here to take it.

Hulk Hogan's music strikes out before Aries can get any further, and Aries says this is the man he wants to see.

Hogan is in the ring with Aries. He tells Aries he can hear. He hears all the hoopla when Aries comes out. He hears how loud it gets. He says for Aries to come out and say he's the main event no matter where he is on the card is a tall order. Hogan says even through all the records he's broken and all that, he's never experienced the goosebumps he has watching Aries wrestle.

Aries thanks Hogan and says he wants to be the main event. Hogan says if Aries wants to be the main event so darn bad, he can make that happen at Destination X. He says Aries can face the world champion at Destination X if Aries gives up the X Division title. He says it's all or nothing for Aries. He wins, he's world champion. He loses, he walks away with nothing.

Hogan gives Aries one week to make a decision that if he really wants to try to be the greatest man that ever lived.

Match #2 - TNA Television Championship - (c) Devon (New York City) vs. Hernandez (Houston, Texas)

Devon's making his way to the ring when Hernandez sneak attacks him by doing his big dive over the top rope. He throws Devon into ring and tries to cover but Devon kicks out at two.

Hernandez in control and he works a bear hug. He works his way free and off an Irish whip, he hits a big shoulder block. Then another. Neckbreaker connects for Devon and then a jumping headbutt. He follows that with a corner splash and wants another shoulder block but Hernandez sends him flying the other way with a pounce-like move.

Hernandez goes to the top and has trouble getting his footing, but still manages to come down, but the momentum doesn't last long, as Devon plants him with a thrust spinebuster and that does it.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA Television Champion: Devon

Match #3 - Bound For Glory Series Gauntlet Match - AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Magnus vs. Bully Ray vs. Kurt Angle vs. The Pope vs. Robbie E vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe vs. James Storm

The winner of this match gets 20 points to start off with a new competitor entering every 90 seconds.

Business picks up when Angle enters and he and Ray start beating the crap out of each other. The next entrant, The Pope, makes his return to the show after a long absence. Still no eliminations yet, well, right as I type that, Ray big boots Hardy out of the match.

Right after this, Abyss comes out from under the ring and hops up on the apron right behind Ray. The action all stops and everyone looks at Ray, and he's telling them to bring it on. Then he turns around and Abyss pulls him out.

We come back from a break and see RVD being eliminated right away. Daniels is in next and Styles just starts lighting him up. Angle grabs Daniels from behind and Styles goes to kick Daniels, but Daniels move and he clocks Angle. Styles checks on Angle, but Daniels grabs him and throws him over the top then he throws Angle out as well. Wow.

Joe in and he immediately eliminates Robbie E. Magnus pulls some people off Joe and now the former tag team partners start going at it. Magnus charges Joe, but Joe low-bridges him and out he goes.

Storm is in and he immediately sends Pope to the outside and sends Daniels flying with a backdrop. Codebreaker for Daniels and then he clotheslines Daniels out. We've got Storm and Joe left.

They start chopping the hell out of each other. They tease some eliminations. Joe's on the apron and locks in the choke, but Storm snaps his neck on the rope and then hits the Last Call Superkick, eliminating Joe.

Winner of 20 points: James Storm

Storm grabs a mic and the entire crowd is chanting "Cowboy." He talks about his decision to come back. He says the question his daughter asking him a few weeks back about him coming back did it for him. He says he knows what professional wrestling means to him, but he didn't know what it meant to his daughter. He says he didn't know what he meant to all the fans who have given him such big ovations the last two shows. He says he made a promise to his little girl and he's going to make it to all the fans: He came back to be the next World Heavyweight Champion. He says he hopes and he prays Bobby Roode is the champion after this BFG series is over with.

The cameras catch up with Roode backstage. They ask him his thoughts on Storm being back. Roode says Storm came back because of jealousy. He says he has no problems facing Storm one night, but he's got bigger fish to fry tonight.

Backstage, Angle is confronting Styles about Daniels and Kazarian being in his head. Angle wants Styles to promise him he'll get straight. Styles promises him he'll get straight and get focused.

Match #4 - Madison Rayne (Seattle, Wash.) vs. Miss Tessmacher (Houston, Texas)

Tessmacher hits an X Factor out of the corner for two. Rayne with an eye rake and she goes for her move, but Tessmacher counters, hits hers and that does it.

Winner via pinfall: Miss Tessmacher

Brooke Hogan is backstage with Gail Kim. Brooke notes next week is Open Fight Night and the Knockouts Championship will be on the line. Kim says she has a rematch clause and shouldn't be apart of that. Brooke agrees and then says Kim's rematch clause doesn't say when she gets it, so since she's not apart of Open Fight Night, well, enjoy your vacation.

Match #5 - TNA World Heavyweight Championship: (c) Bobby Roode (Toronto, Ontario) vs. Mr. Anderson (Green Bay, Wisc.)

Anderson in control early, throwing Roode into the steel steps, but after the break, Roode is in control with a chinlock. Roode stops an Anderson rally with an elbow to the back of the head. Roode with a knee drop to the back of Anderson's head/neck.

Anderson gets a better rally going, but Roode locks in the crossface. Anderson escapes and hits the Plunge for two. Roode snaps Anderson's arm on the rope and then sends that shoulder into the turnbuckle. He follows with another crossface. Anderson is really fighting it here, but he's nowhere near the ropes. The crowd tries to rally behind him. Roode is cranking it and Anderson finally taps.

Winner via submission and STILL TNA World Heavyweight Champion: Bobby Roode

Dixie Carter and AJ Styles are talking. Carter says they have to come clean and she wants to get everything in order and they'll do it next week.

Jeremy Borash is in the ring. He welcomes Sting to the ring to a standing ovation. He says Slammiversary was a great night for him. He wanted to take a chunk out of Bobby Roode's hide and he did that. He makes note about the TNA Hall of Fame. He says he was on the stage that night and there were so many who could've received the honor, so now he wants to thank some people: Jeff and Jerry Jarrett, Dixie Carter and as he says that, three mystery men come out of nowhere and start beating up Sting. It's a total beatdown. No one is coming to help as the show goes off the air with Sting being laid out.
