Impact: Roode makes history, then it's showtime
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Impact Wrestling: Bobby Roode was all set to celebrate becoming the longest-running TNA World Heavyweight Champion in history after beating AJ Styles. Then Hulk Hogan dropped a bomb on him. Next week, on a live Impact, Roode will have to face an old arch-nemesis.

Tonight's taped show emanates from the Impact Zone in Orlando. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

The show opens backstage with Hulk Hogan in an office with Bully Ray, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle and AJ Styles. He officially eliminates Bully Ray from contention to face Bobby Roode for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship tonight.

Gail Kim is out. She notes it's great to be Gail Kim. She says she's the most dominant Knockouts Champion in the history of the company. She says she built the division and she is the division. She says she's the most important woman in the company. But she notes she has one blemish on her résumé: that the Knockouts tag titles are being held by a man and that thing. Since it's Open Fight Night, she takes the opportunity to call out Mr. and Mrs. ODB.

Match #1 - Gail Kim (Toronto, Ontario) & Madison Rayne (Seattle, Wash.) vs. Eric Young (Nashville, Tenn.) & ODB (Minneapolis, Minn.)

Young and Kim with some chain wrestling to start and he brings in ODB and they are rolling.

We're back and Rayne and Kim are in control. Kim and Rayne have some miscommunication and ODB flies out of the corner to spear Kim. Kim with the tag as ODB brings in Young. He puts his dukes up and then just tries to get away from her as she clubs him in the back and then slaps him. This makes him strip to his britches and he delivers arm drags to both Rayne and Kim and then body slams to both.

He brings ODB back in and she hits a running power slam on Kim for two. ODB with a fireman's carry but Kim rakes the eyes. She hits the ropes but jumps right into the position for the fallaway slam. The referee gets distracted by Young and Rayne trips ODB, allowing Kim to fall on top of her. She holds ODB's feet down as the referee counts three.

Winners via pinfall: Gail Kim & Madison Rayne

Match #3 - TNA Television Championship - (c) Devon (New York City) vs. Garett Bischoff (Clearwater Beach, Fla.)

This one doesn't last long before both are assaulted by the Robbies.

This match is a no contest

Devon and Garett clean house on the Robbies.

Hulk Hogan eliminates Jeff Hardy from contention for the World Title match.

Bully Ray is out. He's in a bad mood because he was the first one eliminated by Hogan. He adds that he then learned Joseph Park is in the audience. He finds him in the crowd (eating popcorn) and tells him to get in the ring. Park makes his way to the ring to a big ovation.

Park gets in the ring and tells Ray he can look in a man's eyes and tell if he's guilty. The crowd starts chanting "guilty." He says, under the U.S. Constitution, Ray is entitled to a fair and speedy trail in front of a jury of his peers, and it seems like we have a jury in the crowd. He asks the crowd who thinks Ray is not guilty. Not much noise, but Ray raises his hand. He asks the crowd if they think Ray is guilty and they cheer loudly, but then Ray suckerpunches Park in the stomach, dropping him to the canvas. Then he pulls out his chain and whips him across the back with it.

Ray gets in his face with a mic and says, "Not guilty."

Hulk Hogan picks AJ Styles to face Bobby Roode.

Match #5 - TNA World Heavyweight Championship - (c) Bobby Roode (Toronto, Ontario) vs. AJ Styles (Gainesville, Ga.)

Styles working a side headlock but Roode gets the ropes. Styles goes to work with some kicks to the back and then to the back of the head. Styles loads Roode up for the Clash but can't get him up. Roode backdrops Styles, but Styles rolls through it and charges Roode only to eat a Double R spinebuster. Roode follows with the Perfect Plex but Styles kicks out at two.

Roode goes for it again but Styles slips out and hits the Pele. Styles is slow to capitalize and goes to the apron and goes for the 450 but Roode gets his knees up and follows that with the Perfect Plex and that does it.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA World Heavyweight Champion: Bobby Roode

Roode gets the mic and announces himself as officially being the longest reigning TNA World Heavyweight Champion ever, so it's time to celebrate. He calls for his champagne. He has two glasses and wants someone else to join: Hulk Hogan.

Roode says it's time for the celebration to commence and asks for his confetti to come down and the ring and Impact Zone are showered with red, green and white confetti. While Roode is doing laps in the ring, Hogan's music hits and he comes down to the ring.

He tells Roode he's happy he called him down to celebrate. Hogan congratulates Roode and tells him he did what he did with hard work and earned his respect, but he says the hard work has just begun. Hogan says there's someone else that would like to celebrate the victory with Roode.

The lights go out and when they come back up, Sting is in the ring behind Roode as his music plays. Roode can't believe it. Roode goes to attack, but Sting fights him off, hits the Stinger Splash and sends him packing.

Hogan informs Roode that he'll be facing Sting in a lumberjack match next week to kick off Impact's new, live time slot next week.
