Impact: Roster fights to see who will challenge Roode
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Impact Wrestling: With Sacrifice in the rear-view mirror, the focus shifts to next week's Open Fight Night with a series of qualifying matches, including Samoa Joe against Kurt Angle, to narrow the field from the entire roster to four men who could potentially meet TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode for the title next week.

Tonight's taped show emanates from the Impact Zone in Orlando. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

The champ is here. Bobby Roode is out to start the show. He puts over Rob Van Dam for putting him through hell at Sacrifice, but he notes, in the end, he was the one who climbed the ladder to grab the title, proving everyone wrong again. He says next week, when he is officially the longest-reigning TNA champion in history, he's going to throw a hush bash, the It Factor's Celebration of Domination. He says for that to go off without a hitch, he needs to call out one man and that's Hulk Hogan.

Hogan comes out and Roode produces a list of demands (written down on a sheet of paper). He reads them off, things like green M&Ms in his dressing room and gold confetti dropped from the ceiling, but it has to be flown in from Canada. Hogan says Roode hasn't broken any records yet, so he rips up the list of demands. Hogan says next week is Open Fight Night and Roode's title is up to be defended on that episode. Hogan says he took a poll backstage and says a few people stepped up to be under consideration for the title match next week. Out comes pretty much the entire locker room.

Hogan says he needs to eliminate it down to four men. Sorry ODB. Hogan says RVD will face Bully Ray, Mr. Anderson will face Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle will face Samoa Joe and the rest will be in a wild card battle royal.

Match #1 - Open Fight Night Qualifier - Bully Ray (New York City) vs. Rob Van Dam (Battle Creek, Mich.)

RVD gets rolling, but Ray sidesteps a thrust kick off the top rope and RVD lands awkwardly and Ray hits a cutter and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: Bully Ray

Match #2 - Open Fight Night Qualifier - Wild Card Battle Royal

The final four are Garett Bischoff (yes, really), AJ Styles, Gunner and Austin Aries. Styles quickly eliminates Bischoff. Styles and Aries face off and start battling. Aries hits a roaring elbow. They trade some nice reversals and neither man can get an advantage. Styles hits a forearm and then Styles jumps in from the apron over Aries. Gunner jumps in and throws the distracted Aries out. Gunner goes after Styles, but Styles grabs him in a fireman's carry and dumps him over the top.

Winner: AJ Styles

Styles is in the ring still and he has a mic. He says both he and Dixie Carter are both happily married and that things are not always as they seem and they have to trust him on this one. Before he can elaborate further, they are interrupted by Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. They want to know the truth about the pictures. Daniels says he's a reasonable man, so let's say they took one image out of context, but that's why they invented video. Kazarian has his iPad and it shows Styles and Carter walking into a hotel together with their arms around each other. Daniels says their affection and then there's passion. Styles pushes him and then takes off.

Match #3 - Open Fight Night Qualifier - Mr. Anderson (Green Bay, Wisc.) vs. Jeff Hardy (Cameron, NC)

Hardy with a chop block on Anderson and Anderson goes down holding his knee. Hardy, though, is tiring and can't capitalize. Hardy with a Russian leg sweep. He goes for the double leg drop but Anderson counters into a rollup but Hardy kicks out and proceeds to hit Whisper in the Wind for two. Hardy takes off the shirt and calls for the Twist of Fate but Anderson counters into the Plunge, but Hardy rolls him over upon impact and pins him.

Winner via pinfall: Jeff Hardy

Match #4 - Triple Threat Match for the TNA Knockouts Championship - (c) Gail Kim (Toronto, Ontario) vs. Velvet Sky (The Big Apple) vs. Brooke Tessmacher (Houston, Texas)

They get in a compromising situation. Kim locks in a single leg crab on Tessmacher while Velvet puts a headlock on Kim. They break it up. This is all over the place with all three trying everything in the book. Kim goes to the top and hits the missile dropkick on both Velvet and Tessmacher.

Velvet hits Tessmacher with the X Factor but Kim jumps in and throws Velvet out of the ring and steals the pin.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA Knockouts Champion: Gail Kim

Match #5 - Open Fight Night Qualifier - Samoa Joe (Isle of Samoa) vs. Kurt Angle (Pittsburgh, Pa.)

Angle hits the triple German suplexes and then pulls the straps down. He goes for the Angle Slam, but Joe slips out and locks in the choke, but Angle slips out and puts on the ankle lock. Joe pushes off of that and hits a corner splash and a high kick in the corner. Joe hits the ropes and comes off but Angle catches him and hits the Angle Slam, but Joe kicks out at two.

Joe goes for a kick while Angle is on his knees, but Angle catches the leg and locks in the ankle lock. Joe trying to fight it off but Angle keeps hanging on to the hold. Finally, Joe is able to thrust Angle into the corner. Joe goes to another corner to recover. Angle charges but runs right into a uranage. Joe calls for the muscle Buster and grabs Angle, but Angle fights it off. Angle with a headbutt that staggers Joe. Joe comes back, but Angle with a sunset flip out of the corner and he gets Joe's shoulders down for three.

Winner via pinfall: Kurt Angle
