Impact: Roode, Storm speak, new top contender crowned
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Impact Wrestling: Just days after Lockdown, change is coming to TNA as Hulk Hogan introduces a new, innovative program. Also on the show, Bobby Roode and James Storm each speak following their world title match and Mr. Anderson, Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy meet to determine a new No. 1 contender.

Tonight's taped show emanates from the Impact Zone in Orlando. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

The champ is here and he has cut off his hair. The long locks are gone. Wow. He's here to let us know that he is still the world heavyweight champion. He notes how Storm said he'd hit him with the Last Call Superkick but that kick destroyed his dreams and destiny because Roode stands here as the world champion.

And here comes Mr. Anderson for no reason in particular. I bet he wants a title shot. He tells Roode to shut up. He says he's going to take Roode's title from him. Roode says as far as he's concerned, there's a bunch of guys in front of him, so get a ticket and get to the back of the line, jack.

And now here's J. Nero Hardy. Hardy says Roode wouldn't be champion without Kurt Angle but then Anderson says he's first. So Hardy and Anderson start to argue until referees come down and Hulk Hogan appears on the screen. He says he wants Roode and all the champions out in the ring tonight. He also says Anderson and Hardy will meet tonight to determine who will face Roode at Sacrifice in the main event.

Match #1 - Crimson (Brooklyn, NY) & Bully Ray (New York City) vs. Matt Morgan (Fairfield, Conn.) & Austin Aries (Minneapolis, Minn.)

Crimson and Bully Ray isolate Morgan, with Crimson working a leg lock, but Morgan gets to the bottom rope. They go to work on the leg. Crimson takes time to gloat so Morgan hits him with one of the ugliest discus clotheslines seen.

Morgan gets the tag to Aries who uses his speed on Ray. He lights Crimson up with kicks and lands some mounted strikes in the corner on Ray. Crimson goes to spear Aries but he slips out of the way and he spears Ray instead. Morgan clotheslines Crimson out and holds the ropes open for Aries to hit the suicide dive. Aries back in the ring and goes to work on Ray. He wants to go for the brainbuster, but before he can lift, Ray slips out and rolls Aries up and pretty much pulls his trunks down holding them for the pin.

Winners via pinfall: Bully Ray & Crimson

Garett Bischoff is in the ring with his Lethal Lockdown team. He thanks them for their service. Styles puts Bischoff over until Ric Flair's music hits. Flair says that talent is only there because of Eric Bischoff, but they bleep the Bischoff name since he can't use it anymore.

Flair says next week he's having a party for Eric Bischoff. He says those four need to find something else to do next week because they're not invited. Oh snap!

Match #2 - Kurt Angle (Pittsburgh, Pa.) vs. AJ Styles (Gainesville, Ga.)

Christopher Daniels and Kazarian come down to the ring and hand Styles an envelope and the distraction allows Angle to roll Styles up and get the win.

Winner via pinfall: Kurt Angle

All the TNA champions are in the ring, minus the Knockouts tag team champions, as apparently they don't count.

Here comes Hulk Hogan, fresh off a backstage meeting where he added Rob Van Dam to the No. 1 contender's match later. He says things are changing around here and once a month, there's going to be a special episode of the show called Open Fight Night, where an uncontracted talent will have a match that will be judged by a panel of three judges and if he and the judges like what they see, that person will get a contract. He adds that on Open Fight Night, if any champion on the roster gets challenged, they have to come out and fight.

Roode takes immediate exception to this, as does Gail Kim. Devon steps up and says he'll be a fighting champion. Hogan says he was just going to get to him and starting from now on, the TV title will be defended each and every week.

Match #3 - Gail Kim (Toronto, Ontario), Madison Rayne (Seattle, Wash.), Sarita (Mexico City, Mexico) & Rosita (New York City) vs. Tara (San Bernadino, Calif.), Brooke Tessmacher (Houston, Texas), Mickie James (Richmond, Va.) & Velvet Sky (The Big Apple)

It breaks down into an eight-way brawl. I'm shocked. We're left with Kim and Tessmacher in the ring. Kim goes for a cover with her feet on the ropes but Velvet knocks them off. Kim confronts her about it and Tessmacher rolls her up for the win.

Winners via pinfall: Brooke Tessmacher, Tara, Velvet Sky & Mickie James

Match #4 - TNA Television Championship - (c ) Devon (New York City) vs. Gunner (Atlanta, Ga.)

Gunner in control, but Devon starts to get rolling with some fists of fury. Huge shoulder block connects and he follows with a Thesz press and a headbutt. Devon is really rolling here. He hits another shoulder block and then reverses Gunner's attempt at a comeback with a thunderous spinebuster and that is it.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA Television Champion: Devon

James Storm is out. He says he wasn't just trying to beat Bobby Roode on Sunday, he was trying to hurt him. That's why when he saw the paramedics attending to Roode, he felt satisfied. But when he got to the back, questions started popping up in his head. He says he took the long drive home and tucked his daughter in bed and she asked where the world title was. That was hard. He says he also didn't want to look himself in the eyes, but when he woke up, he saw a man who was beaten. He says Roode may have won the match, but he did not beat him. Storm says he beat himself.

He says wrestling is what he loves. He says maybe Roode was right about his luck, maybe it has run out. Before saying anything else, he drops the mic and walks off.

Match #5 - No. 1 Contender's Match - Rob Van Dam (Battle Creek, Mich.) vs. Mr. Anderson (Green Bay, Wisc.) vs. Jeff Hardy (Cameron, NC)

Fast paced match where they take turns sitting out so the other two can compete. RVD hits Rolling Thunder on Hardy but gets up right into the Plunge from Anderson. Anderson immediately gets hit with the Twist of Fate. Hardy goes to the top for the Swanton Bomb and it connects, but before he can cover, he gets kicked in the grill by RVD. Now RVD goes to the top and he hits Anderson with the Five Star, but before he can cover, Hardy goes for a Twist of Fate, but someone finally counters something and it's RVD with a backslide and the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Rob Van Dam
